Chapter 11: 11. Familia?
Arriving in front of the house that from the outside gave off haunted house vibes, over the the side I could easily see a graveyard.
Knocking on the door i waited for a moment. Nothing. This time I knocked louder and heard some crashing come from inside the house.
"O-one moment!" A female voice shouted before I could make out the sounds of footsteps.
A second later the door cracked open slighty and revealed a single red eye. "Yes?".
the female voice asks warily.
"Ah, I'm looking for Goddess Hel?" I ask the person.
"That's me." She confirms.
"Ah well I was actually hoping to join your familia if you are still recruiting." I tell her however she seems to be staring at my body.
"You have a beautiful soul, so many colors." she says suddenly. "Your body...? Is eternal? Stitched together with so many strange creatures. Made of energy as well. I have never seen something so oddly beautiful. Unique."
That causes me to stiffen a bit.
The door opens and there stands a woman half of her hair is black with a red eye and the other is blonde with a blue eye, her dress has some skulls around the top, its black but let's off a green glow, and there is an emerald or something in the center of her chest. Her skin seems to be quite pale. But she is quite beautiful like I've heard most goddess are.
"You are here to join my familia?" She ask with a hopeful voice. "Are you not repulsed by me?"
"No?"
"The others fled before me and did not return." She says sadly.
"That sucks, sorry. But no I don't feel repulsed at all." I admit.
"Perhaps it is because you are eternal you do not fear death?" She says curiously. "Oh! Please come in!"
She opens the door and unlike the spooky outside the inside is rather nice. A bit gothic looking, but that's not something that bothers me.
"You really wish to join my familia?" The goddess asks again still hopeful.
"Yep." she was a rather cute goddess if a little insecure.
We head into a decent sized living room with a bunch of black furniture. Once more there were a bunch of glowing crystal and skull like ornaments everywhere. Spooky but nice.
"Have you joined a familia before?" She asks as I remove the sword from my back and set it against the wall.
"Nope you'll be my first, I've only been in the city for 3 or so days." I tell her.
She wiggles a bit happily and claps her hands excitedly. "You will be my first familia member and my captain if you want!" she says with a large smile making her eyes squint.
"Sure. Do you have any kind of rules or restrictions I need to know about, and how often would you be able to update my status I know some gods or goddess are too busy to attend to their familia members." I ask her just to make sure.
"Oh no! I can update it whenever you like! I'm not very busy ever I just stay here and absorb death energy from the graveyard and around the dungeon." She says quickly.
"That's good then." I nod happy with the situation so far.
"Ah where do you live?" She asks remembering something.
"I've been staying at an inn for the past couple of days, as I said I just got into town and was working on getting money to buy a place to stay." I tell her.
"You can stay here with me, I have a couple of rooms! I take it you are an adventurer from your sword?" She asks.
"Well if you have spare rooms that would be fine and yes. I've been going into the dungeon the past couple of days to kill goblins for funds." I tell her.
"Perfect! Would you like me to give you falna now?" She asks eagerly.
"Sure, you need to see my back right?" I ask.
"Yes so if you could take off your shirt..." she says before blushing. "I mean..."
"My my how forward." i chuckle before pulling off my sword holster and taking off my shirt. Walking over I sit down on the floor in front if her.
Hel is thrilled to have her first ever familia member, unlike other gods or goddesses of death she doesn't have any other divinities, her sole divinity is death related and it overpowers most making them fear her.
A drop of golden blood appears at her finger tip before dripping onto the back of Ryan. A skull like insignia appears between his shoulder blades and various words start to form his status.
Ryan shivers as some strange changes happen inside of his body.
"My first familia member!" Hel says excitedly hugging the broad back in front of her. It takes her a second to realize what she did and blushes. "Sorry!"
"Haha! It's fine, if my cute little goddess wishes to give me hugs then I'm all for it." Ryan says with a laugh making her cheeks blush deeper.
"Cute?!"
"Ahaha. Well then might I see my status? I'm rather curious about it." I admit.
"Oh!" Hel grabs some paper from a stand next to her and presses it to his back and records the information.

"So that's what the basic status looks like?" I ask before feeling another paper on my back.
"You have quite a few magical skills!" Hel says happily.
"Ah before we do anything else I just want to request to not update my level until my stats all reach at least SSS rank. I want to have a good solid foundation and don't want to rush my levels and ruin my future." I request from the goddess.
"Of course! If i recall then most familia members level when they hit D rank skills." She says with a frown.
"Those people are eager for quick gains and are killing off their future." I shake my head.
Sure you get a quick power boost and maybe an increase in funds from your familia, but in the end it cuts off future progress and people get stuck at lower levels due to having a bad foundation I believe.
