Chapter 30: 30. Regular day.
The next day I went to my usual study session and went over how exactly to carve lizardmen for their skin considering that was my next floor. Cart is going to pay for itself rather quickly.
After making sure I had the skill down, me and Bokp headed down to the dungeon for our daily grind of materials, I didn't plan to use my guns for now as it was tedious to make bullets and It was a waste using them on things like goblins and kobolds.
I went back to using Darts broadsword for training with Boko just joining me for practice.
I planned to also train with the greataxe and the spear, cover all my bases and maybe earn new excellia in different stats. You can gain excellia different ways such as training but killing monsters is faster.
I dunno how it's really calculated as it's rather mysterious, but it's going to take me quite a while to max my stats like I wanted to. I'll probably max my magic stat long before any of the other stats.
The max total a skill usually gets is 999 or 1000 can't remember, but usually you need special skills to go beyond that. S rank is 1001 in a stat. I can get up to 2000 in a rank. Basically double the stats of a max rank 1, max stats for a rank 2 I believe. 1500 is SSS rank so I think mine would be EX rank. So technically if I max myself out at level 1 I'll have the skills of a new level 3. Seems fine to me since all the templates I've been given are pretty much the same strength. They don't really differ in combat power just style.
Gotta admit though smashing things with the giganto axe are pretty fucking satisfying. As long as I don't aim for the chest and destroy the magic crystal. If the magic crystal is looted or destroyed the body poofs into dust so if you want monster parts you have to keep it intact or else poof the monster corpse vanishes.
Made me feel like I had super strength swinging that bitch around, which I probably did at this point. I know I'm stronger than an average human.
It was a little bit slower killing off monsters but we still managed to get about 20,000 valis worth of stones. That's about all I can hold before my bags are full with the inclusion of bullets into my pouch.
Buying some more vegetables and fruits on the way home, I spent the rest of the day with Hel who was ecstatic about making bullets with me. She liked to be useful instead of sitting at home and not being able to do anything.
"Today, let's make some thunder bullets." I wave my hand and feel about 1/10 of my mana drain as a green materia appears in my hand, it's smaller than the ones I have because they also need to level up. This one can only use thunder, as it's a level 1 materia.
Any materia I make would start at level 1 and need to be nourished if you wanted to cast more powerful spells.
I make about 4 more and have a couple of the green orbs put into a large grinder. Snapping the lid closed I pull on the crank and there is a glass shattering noise from inside.
Once that is done there are small green glass like shards in the grinder which we dump out into a pestle and mortar and grind up. Some needs to be mixed with the gun powder as a fine dust and some needs to be mixed with the lead.
The effect would be not only slightly faster bullets but the bullet tip would cause some paralysis wherever it hit causing muscles to tense up until it was taken out. This is the most basic magic bullet, if fire materia was used it would cause burning wounds inflicting pain, if ice matera was used it would freeze the wound and cause blood clots and like stiffness.
Vincent only used the basic materia because it was cheap and readily available for purchase. I certainly wouldn't want to crush level 4 materia for stronger bullets. Like trading a fucking materia that can use thundaja for a couple of super shocking bullets. Plus you might get maybe 5 bullets from a materia. Even then materia isn't cheap if I had to put a single materia on sale for the same price here it would be a couple thousand valis easy.
Of course I have no intention of selling shit right now as that would probably get me in some deep doodoo and I dont need that, I already have enough problems on my hand with 1 stingy goddess. I bet the elves of this world would shit bricks if I showed them materia, they are known for their magic. So if I was like Hey buddy I've got this orb here that let's you cast single word magic instantly, they would probably find my ass for war or something.
Anyway a good day of work and making new bullets then Hel happily cuddled up on the couch with me to read her book once more falling asleep on me. We should probably start using a bed for reading so she isnt uncomfortable.
The next day was almost the same as this one as all I really needed to do was go study with Rose and then head off to the dungeon with Boko to farm excellia and monster cores for cash money.
On the third day however we headed over towards the Ganesha familia, they were pretty much done with the saddle and the side bags which means we could stay in the dungeon longer now that we had more bag space for monster cores. Still not enough room for lizard skins and my broad sword was starting to look a tad bit rough which was frustrating.
