Chapter 39: 39. Excuses.
"Might I ask why you were passed out." She asks, however someone else notices something.
"Your body? It feels like a high elf." Riviera says with a confused look. "I can feel the magic rolling off of you from here."
"Remember when I mentioned stuff about my body being strange, that there were side effects? Well something like that nearly happened and I almost exploded from it." This was the truth, can't really lie to a goddess after all as they can tell. "However I should be good now once I fully heal." I show them the slowly healing scars. "Ah, my dungeon guide is going to kill me. She literally told me to stop getting into trouble maybe 15 minutes prior."
"Leaving a bloody trail from the market to your house isn't exactly staying out if trouble." Loki says with a smirk.
"Luckily I don't think anything like that will happen again." My body should be able to handle quite a bit more stress due to the level up, plus I don't think circumstances such as that will happen again.
Tiona looks confused for a second. "Even though you look sick right now you somehow feel stronger and more intimidating?" She asks confused.
"I can feel it too." Finn says curiously.
"Mm." Ais nods her head.
"Well I was kind of forced to level up." I tell them. "So that's probably what you are feeling."
Man, adventurers danger senses really are top notch. Plus all these guys are like level 5s or 6s.
"Forced to level up?" Loki asks with narrowed eyes well her eyes are always narrow but still. "Didn't you just get your falna recently?"
"I did." I admit.
"And you were forced to level up?" She asks.
"Yes."
"That can only mean you maxed out your stats and your body couldn't handle anymore energy. My father had a few people like that in his familia." Loki says with a grin. "So how high did you manage to go Mr.Limit Breaker."
Ugh damn goddess being too smart for her own good.
"Limit breaker?" Tiona asks.
"Certain heroes could break the limits of status, however they would have to go to extremes to do so. Sometimes their body can't handle the excess excellia and would break through the limits of a human. For example a level 1 hero defeating the goliath in single combat, the excellia gain would be massive. However if their body couldn't handle it they would explode and die." Loki says. "Judging by the blood smears, you got to experience just that. Normally the limit is 999 in any stat making it S rank. 1000 to 1199 for SS rank, and 1200+ is SSS rank. So how high did you make it?"
Now all the eyes in the room are locked onto me including Lili.
I just smile. "Your being nosey again." I point out.
"You know it's rude to call someone nosey to their face right?" Loki says with a frown.
"You know it's rude to asks someone about their stats right?" I counter with a grin.
"Fair point. The curiousity is killing me though." Loki grins back.
"Shame about that. Ah Ais, you wanted to know more about dragoons correct?" i change the subject, instantly the blonde was near my bed with a bright light in her eyes Tiona by her side. "Previously I mentioned there were two different kinds of dragoons. The kind who fought with a spear and leapt through the air, most times they had a dragon companion. Then the other kinds who wore magical armor, meant to rules over the dragons, they also became part dragon when the armor was worn."
Ais frowned. "Why would anyone want to become part dragon?" She held disgust for almost all monsters due to her past.
"The armor was made from the flesh and spirit of deceased dragons to allow them to hold the power of said dragon and elemental magics. The dragoons could then command the dragons to fight by their side if they had the specified armor. That power was needed to face off against a great foe who could summon monstrous beings." I tell her as the group is now listening closely. "But that ties into the story of Dart and the other dragoons."
"Doesn't that mean you could summon dragons?" Tiona asks. "I mean you have dragoon armor right?"
"Well it's a bit more complicated than just summoning a dragon. You would have to find a dragon of the same element and force a bond with it, then you could summon the dragon at will and control it. Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Lightning, Light, Darkness, those are the 7 basic basic dragoon elements. Even if another dragon of the same type was killed there would only be 1 dragoon for each type. So only 7 dragoon spirits exist for normal elements."
"You keep saying normal elements, does that mean there is an abnormal element?" Riviera asks having been paying attention.
"Yep, there is one. The Divine Dragoon, it uses non-elemental magics, but it can command all other dragons. There is only one, and a divine dragon had to be slayed to create it. Special dragon slaying equipment such as the dragon block staff and dragon buster sword needed to be used to slay the creature." I explain.
"Dragon Block Staff and Dragon Buster Sword?" Ais asks curiously.
"The Dragon Block Staff is a powerful artifact that when used against dragons can seal and restrain them, weakening them and making it difficult for them to move. As for the Dragon Buster Sword, it is a sword said to be able to kill any dragons with a single slash. In the battle with the divine dragon the staff was said to be destroyed but still weakened the legendary dragon. It took the combined effort of all 7 dragoons to bring the beast down, but the killing blow was struck by an enemy with the dragon buster sword, the divine dragoon spirit was stolen." I tell the curious group. Successful in avoiding any talks about my status. "Both weapons were used during what is called the Dragon Campaign to fight Dragoons and Dragons, the staff was made to chain down the divine dragon and absorb the energy of the creature then the sword was supposed to be able to kill it. However even then the divine dragon was far too powerful to be destroyed by the 2 objects alone."
