Chapter 2: Chapter 1 (The Start)

Up in Earth's low orbit, a large array of observations satellites that were constructed in the facilities in Horizon Dawn named the observers, and in every satellite that was built a module of housing a basic AI intelligence, to fix any problems that would come up, they were tasked to monitor the situation and if any weather anomalies were to happen, with a slight hope they could pick up any incoming signals on Earth. With the distance between Earth and Mar, any form of signal communication would take roughly an hour but this was when the Earth skies were clear of any form of inference.

That program was established back in 2100 when the new century had come around. For 13 long years, they have been monitoring Earth's condition, and still, none of the satellites has ever received any kind of signal. Until today.

[ Observer Number 21 ]

"Full Earth orbit loop Number" *Calculating* "Loop 9508, resuming to loop 9509."

"Mission objective: Collect and observe weather patterns and anomalies. Data collected, Large gathering of radiation high in Earth Atmosphere. High amounts of electromagnetic storm clouds covering visibility of 87 percent of the earth."

"No changes in the collected information, transmitting data to Horizon Dawn Central research center."

HDCR A organization that was created when the mars inhabitants were still in the early years of creating the city. They realize that they needed to put all their research materials and manpower together in order to survive on Mars. When people were still split up in their minor colonies, they knew they couldn't survive for long on their own.

HDCR Had drastically improved the lives of the humans living on Mars and providing research and technology that you couldn't do on Earth. Advancing the technology further on than what was on Earth, at the time.

"Transmitting 32 percent... 57 percent... 89 percent... 92 percent... 100, Data information transmission sent."

As the satellite continues to orbit around the earth, it went past the designated area where it could send information the quickest back to the HDCR. Now being on the opposite side an internal light blip on its processor as the AI module tries to figure out what did they detect.

" unknown incoming data has been received."

"Categorize as Anomaly... storing D- Error"

"Incoming data information lost... Re-categorizing in process."

A few moments of code, and machinery sounded off in the satellite as the AI has finally finished its process of figuring what did they pick up.

"Categorize complete, Incoming Data categorize Signal transmission."

*Bleep Bleep*

"Signal Transmission classification: Important."

"Playback collected transmission."

The AI had decided to take a interest in what the message was all about before it was sent back toward the HDCR, it was extremely rare to receive incoming signals from the earth, but most of them had been dead air or gibberish code nonsense of a machine mafluncating on earth.

" Jesus Christ, I don't even know if they are able to get this, not with all the inferences in the skies."

A young man, wearing what seems to be a tattered lab cloak and it appears that one side of his glasses was partly shattered. His brown straight hair was all in a mess as she stood in front of the camera, starting with an expression of a person needing dire assistance.

"Hello, People up there..." He clapped his hands together quietly and awkwardly stared at the camera. "Why am I the one in front of the camera again?"

"Because you wanted to do this, and we may need their help." A person in the background spoke out

"I'm just having second thoughts, who knows what will happen?" The guy in front of the camera started to pace around the floor.

"Just talk to the camera." The person in the background started to sound annoyed with the person in front.

"Fine, Fine." He would sway his arms in the air for a bit as he took a moment to breathe in and out. "Hello, People of mars my name is Angelo Deless." His eyes darted from the camera to the background, then back to the camera repeatedly.

"Our effort... No, Technically my efforts have picked up the satellites orbiting around the earth, How would you ask? Almost all of the low orbit satellites around the earth should have been effective in some way or another, but down here on earth, I detected the signals and transmissions with my own machinery, it should be impossible but there are moments where the skies become clear enough for me to scan the atmosphere for a few minutes."

"Which got me curious on how were those satellites still working? Only to figure out that new ones were built in their place. I am part of one of the underground shelters that were capable of cryosleep... but when we woke up to reality we were thrown into a harsh world. "

"large groups were formed to create pseudo countries and governments over the lost ones, some are friendly while some... not so much." Angelo rubbed the back of his head as he was saying this

"One of the powerful, not so friendly ones, from the current information we have gathered so far, could be tempted to assault us, I know this is a long shot but this is my- no our plead to come to help us... Please, I know you're going to be surprised to see people alive down here judging by the fact you haven't tried to send anyone down here."

"End of recording." A few seconds later the camera turns off.

Soon the AI module tries to process what just had happened.

"Playback Succesful, classification change from important to Top Priority."

"Transmitting of recorded message... Processing."

"Error, not in the designated zone, located on the opposite of the planet. Time of arrival." *Calculating* "12 hours... message Stored in data banks."

==Horizon dawn 2113==

Horizon Dawn Mechanical engineering Research department, a wide three-story tall building located on the western side of the city, the color was of pearl white with the sun reflecting off from it. As the building was underneath a giant glass dome.

The glass Dome was finished being built by the year 2082 as the younger generations of this period had experienced a much safer living experience, compared to their parents and grandparents.

"Did you hear about the news? The first batch of modifed gene babies most of them has already become young adults."

"Really? When was that? like 20 years ago? I was still in the academy back then."

Horizon Dawn has a central academy for all of the citizens of the city, but in each direction, their are smaller departments to teach specialized skills if people wanted to go into a technical field, with each field different than the others.

"Weren't they suppose to have their genes genetically alter to be able to withstand the sun UV radiation better?"

"That and some are stronger than most humans."

The two research engineers were chatting away inside a large room filled with multiple types of machinery with one side having holographic computer projections.

"What was the purpose of those gene babies again?"

"They can be used to send them deeper into our solar system."

"Right, right-"

A metallic door slides open as a young male of a height 5ft and 8 inches tall. His black hair was all over the place and his glasses needed to be adjusted and his green eyes lack the energy to get through the day.

"Hey Airos, The blueprint should be uploaded to your computer."

Airos slowly turns to look at the two "Thank."

"No problem."

Airos steadily made his way over to his desk chair and sat down. Being one of the youngest person to secure a job in the research department at age 20. Airos Con was a technical genius despite his social skills would need some work.

He lifts up a finger and pressed a button on his computer panel projecting a holographic screen.

" Good morning Dr. Airos, I have organized the blueprint into there three separate layers, would you care to take a look? " An AI spoke from the machine, as a holographic image of a female humanoid appears standing on a circular pad on the panel.

" In a minute Vi" Airos stretches out his back and arms together.

Vi one of the latest designs in artificial intelligence that was made, they are an improvement over the AI module in the observer satellites. Their ability to process information faster and able to think independently.

One of the engineers leans into the other ears and whispers. "Isn't he part of the same generation when most Gene babies were born?"

"Yeah what about it?"

"It's rare to see people of his generation not have some form of genetic modifications."

"That's what his parents decided, there are some that didn't decide to go with the gene modifications."

"Each to their own huh?"

"Let's get back to work."

Airos was looking at the blueprint layout on the screen, bits and pieces that put together were made into a larger machine.

"Have it sent to the assembly area... I'll try putting it together."

"Sending data to the 3D printing assembly." Vi reply

Airos push himself away from the desk panel, and got off the chair, he proceeds to exit the room and head down the hallway over to the assembly area. Once he arrives at the door he planted a hand on a scanner by the door letting him inside the room.

"Access granted."

The assembly room allows prototype blueprints to be 3D printed and assemble to test if the prototype works, if it doesn't it gets scrap into parts again to be re-used.

He walks up to a control panel as he began to type on the panel keyboard to turn on the assembly plant, as the Printers let out steam and machine arms started to move around.

He set it to auto-build some parts of the machine and headed over to a locker full of equipment to assemble machines. Most people let the assembly plant do all the work, but Airos likes to be a bit old fashion.

"Vi display the blueprint for me."

"As you wish."

Airos had put on headgear to protect himself and to make sure he doesn't go blind when people decided to weld. A holographic imaginary soon popup on the visor showing him the steps to continue building the machine, from the parts that weren't assembled onto it.

What Airos was developing was a new form of all-terrain recon drone with 2 wheels on each side. It would roughly three times bigger than an average human.
