Chapter 6: Chapter 6

"Hmm."

I flip on to my stomach to avoid the strong sunlight coming through the curtains. I only had a few minutes of peace when my phone started to vibrate. I check it to see five messages from Noah. He was urging me to get to the meeting with our new team.

That's right, Noah was ordered to follow me to a new team. He was to keep an eye on me, I presume. Regardless, I plan to make use of him.

Ding!

Another message had arrived. I had less than 30 minutes until I'm considered late, he said.

"Yawn~"

A big yawn over takes me as I stretch before I get up. I slip off my sweatpants in the bathroom before taking care of my business. So much to do right when I wake up; brushing my teeth and hair, showering, dressing up. It was a hassle.

I raised my hand a distance away from the toothbrush, using mana to make it move towards me. Telekinesis was a minor spell, one of my past favorites that didn't require verbal spell casting. The cap of the paste tube opened and squeezed some onto the brush. The brush floated to my mouth and moved back and forth. I just had to smile widely as it did its job, hands off. I rinse and enter the shower.

Standing under the shower head made me feel even more tired. I feel as though I've become lethargic since I've come to this world. All I want to do is sleep like the dead.

Perhaps I'm still hung up the past. Right, this was that thing called 'trauma'. I saw on it the internet. They say to take care of it with a doctor before you derail down the path of drugs or alcohol.

Hm. Hard pass. I'd rather not be probed with needles and inquisitive glares at the lack of findings, followed by hundreds of questions, again.

I brush back my blonde hair with some gel to try to tame its curls. I've gotten used to the color, I no longer felt the mild urge to rip it out and condemn myself as a heretic for bearing the holy color. It was a shock to say the least as many humans bear that hair color. Even red was lingering on their heads.

Golden and Red were the signs symbolizing my lord father and I on my home planet. Perhaps my brother was envious of this fact, for he bared a color similar to the regular civilians; Black.

I store away my complementations and exit the bathroom. I change into a classic black formal suit. I shrug on the jacket and make my way out.

I head to the meeting situated in the main building. I arrive just on time. I enter the conference room and take a seat conspicuously. I sit at the far back, the last chair on the long table. There weren't many agents present, only six.

We all sat a distance from one another as the long table allowed us to. Noah waved at me once in greeting with a grin before he turned his attention to the front.

There stood Charles Knight, a green eyed caucasian man in his late 30's. A level 7 agent according to the file Director Fury gave me. This man was the captain and leader of this new team. Fury had given me basic information on my new team.

Charles gave a small speech to introduce himself and welcome everyone. I dozed off as he spoke. Then they started to introduce themselves. There are two scientists and four combatants in this team.

When it got to my turn, I stated my name and level. They all glanced at me, curious if any of the many rumors about me were true.

"We have a simple assignment to start us off." Charles turned on the projector behind him.

A picture of a man, Latino, appeared with his information beside the picture. A dubbed genius, engineering student shield wanted to recruit asap. It's been reported that a prominent gang in his local area had gotten word of his talents and has been harassing him since he first refused their request.

"Our mission is to locate this man and ensure his safety. We're to escort him back to the base."

"Last known location?" Irina Shayk, a beautiful blonde Russian lady, spoke in a slight accent.

"His home. He lives with his single mom, she reported him missing to the police three days ago. The local police couldn't find anything, so the higher ups decided to send a team. This is perfect as our first mission, it'll be quick and easy." Charles grinned as he clapped his hands.

"Everyone pack your bags, we're heading to Detroit."

After being dismissed, everyone went off.

Noah tapped my shoulder as I exit. "You know what to pack right?"

"Mhm." Too lazy to talk I hum a yes.

"Good. Captain said we have to get to the Airport in an hour. Remember, Jet B-48." Noah emphasizes the last of his words before he took off to pack his own things. It was like I gained a mother hen that worriedly nagged at me constantly, though he did help keep me on track.

Our mission was expected to last from as little as two days to a week or so. I didn't pack much, two semi formal outfits, a few undergarments, and the suit I already had me. If I need anything else I could buy it there, after all as an agent I get paid pretty well they say. I was also compensated for the danger Ian went through while securing the 084.

My weapons was a different story. Underneath my dress shirt and suit jacket I strapped thin daggers on my forearms with a thin little belt. I had two handguns strapped under my armpits. I also hid knifes on my legs.

Hmm, overkill? It kind of seemed so as I looked over myself. But I felt I should take this degree of caution at the very least. Because I was no longer immortal. Only the holy grade weapons were ever able to leave a scratch on me.

As a human now… I can bled by the simplest stab.

I can get easily hurt, cut, and even killed. Humans are that fragile.

For now that is. Just until I can increase my magic powers.

During these months of training I found I was unable to use mana as I used. Which I expected since I became a human, this was the result of the change of my constitution. My biggest predicament is that while mana would bend to my souls will, I couldn't perform above grade 3 magic circles. That was the limit my body could handle.

I could only use the first and second Tier's of magic. Beginner spells.

I felt like a child learning to control magic spells all over again. But this time I didn't have a guide, my father nor a blessed constitution.

At least I didn't have to start from scratch; I still retain all my knowledge from my prior lifetime.
