Chapter 13: Dance invitation

A/n: You know what I'm about to say. I don't own any of the anime/manga/cartoon/songs/music references that might appear on this fic, all I own is the idea and the OC's I might use later on in the story.

I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Pyrrha sat down on a toilet with her knees close to her chest, she hugged her knees with her arms tightly as she stared at her scroll, a technological device in remnant which acted much like a cellular device which she held with her right hand.

"It's this sunday..." She sniffled in the bathroom as she looked at the screen.

"Pyrrha! Are you in there?!" She heard Nora call her from the other side of the room. Widening her eyes she let go of her knees and sat herself normally while simultaneously wiping her eyes with her wrist.

"Yea, I'm in here!" She tried to speak normally, but her last few words betrayed her as her voice trembled.

The knocking stopped and for a few seconds nothing was said between the two.

Pyrrha's eyes watered more and more during the silence, however she refused to cry once again.

"Pyrrha..." Nora's voice quieted down as the red-haired girl got up from the toilet and put her scroll in her pocket.

"Are you crying?" Nora asked quietly, she didn't want anyone to hear.

"No." She denied, still with her trembling voice.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Nora asked from the other side of the door. Pyrrha went towards the door and sat against it.

"It's stupid." She told her friend and sniffled.

"If it's so stupid, you wouldn't be so upset about it." Nora whispered on the other side of the door. "It's ok Pyrrha, you can talk to me." She told the girl who sniffled once again.

"It's just that I wanted to ask Jaune out to the ball… But he doesn't seem to be interested in me at all." Pyrrha looked at her scroll for pictures of her and Jaune alone.

"Oh Pyrrha." Nora sighed, making the girl nod as she kept swiping, hoping to find a foto where she was alone with Jaune.

"Why don't you ask Light to come with you?" Nora suggested. Pyrrha kept scrolling until she found a picture she had taken while they were training together.

"Light? I don't know if he'll come." She said thinking about her friend. Light wasn't the kind of person who'd go to a party even if he was asked.

"Have you tried?" Nora asked, making Pyrrha shake her head.

"No, but they won't allow him to come anyways, he won't come if he has to take off his mask." She explained making the girl on the other side of the door sigh.

"Maybe we could ask Yang and Weiss to change the party to masquerade ?" Nora questioned as Pyrrha pondered of the idea, if it was a masquerade then the chances of Light coming to the party were still slim however.

"But I wanted to go with Jaune." She thought out-loud as Nora scoffed.

"It's better to go with a friend, than going with nobody. I'm taking Ren and he isn't my boyfriend!" She exclaimed.

"I suppose." Pyrrha agreed as she got up and opened the door to see Nora standing up with a smile on her face. She hugged Nora and then walked out of the room.

"Where are you going?" Nora asked as she saw Pyrrha move towards her bed and then lay down in it.

"I'll think about it first" She told her friend who nodded.

Nora left Pyrrha in the room so she could think about her choice.

'Light is nice' She told herself while laying on her bed.

'I've known him for a long time, it could be worth it to bring him to the dance.' She thought while remembering the type of person her friend was.

'That's probably not going to happen.' She realised before releasing a long breath.

"No, Nora's right!" She looked at her scroll and nodded.

"I still have two hours before curfew" She got up and took a jacket with her as she left the room, leaving a very confused Ren.

"What's going on?" He questioned looking left and right.

Light hummed while eating a piece of cake Pyrrha had sent him before.

"The dance is coming up, and I still have no way to infiltrate Beacon." He walked to a screen inside his room which had a microphone in-front of it.

"This would be so much easier if the headmasters listened to a word I said." He sighed, not tiredly but in annoyance, the headmasters of remnant seemed to only care about themselves or their reputation, something which had been made clear by the fact they were more focused investigating each other, than they were actually paying attention in Beacon.

While focusing on possible infiltration points Light heard knocking coming from his door.

"Who is it?" He asked while walking towards the door. He took a gun from one of the cabinets he had in the hallway. Nearing the door he put the barrel gun on the peephole.

"It's me Pyrrha, your childhood friend." She said, he recognised the voice behind the door, but was still uncertain, was it truly her? There were so many different things that could happen in Remnant, semblances were tricky things which could lead even Light astray when it came to working a case, even so he would still inevitably catch the culprit, he had a name to live up to after all.

"I know anyone could say that, so I brought proof." She said on the other side of the door.

Light was hesitant at first, but he took the barrel of the gun off the peephole and put it on the center of the door instead. He took a small piece of thick glass from his pocket and placed it inside the peephole before pushing it with his finger as hard as he could.

Looking through it he saw a puzzle with the letter L and P on the middle, he looked at the right bottom corner and saw there were some scratches in weird patterns.

"I am impressed you still have that." Light admitted opening the door to Pyrrha after checking if there was anyone behind or next to her.

"I brought no one with me." She deadpanned at her friend's cautiousness.

'He's being extra cautious today.' She thought weirded out by that coming to her mind. Her friend was always cautious.

"I don't know that, you could have been a hostage." He replied while taking a small device with a tiny screen. It looked like a vacuum cleaner, except it didn't have any openings for it to work. He placed in-front of Pyrrha and then raised his arm, only to bring it down. The device gave two beeps and Light put it down on the counter next to the door.

"Come in." He said letting Pyrrha into his apartment room.

"I'm swapping apartments Sunday." He told Pyrrha which made her eyes widen.

"Already? You swapped apartments four days ago!" She recalled making the boy nod.

"Don't worry it's not too far from here." He told her in his usual tone.

"So, what brings you here?" The man asked while closing the door behind him and Pyrrha.

"Well..." Pyrrha froze, it was kind of awkward asking him out of nowhere, especially when they've known each other for so long. For most that would mean it comes easier, but not for Pyrrha, her friend was too… Different from others, which made it harder to invite him into anything.

Light simply stared at her with his mask.

"Would you like to go to the dance with me?" Pyrrha asked.
