Chapter 10: CHAPTER 9
BLAKE BELLADONNA POV
"Hey Blake."
She ignored her partner and continued to read her book while eating the pancake after each paragraph.
"Blake. Psst. Blake."
She ignored her partner once again. She might not have known Yang for long but from what little she knew, Yang would probably try to talk about boys, try to tease her about something inane or make her usual bad puns.
Because of that, she has decided to take a page from Lie Ren's book and ignore Yang like how he ignored Nora.
But just like Nora, Yang was nothing if not persistent.
"Blake!" she felt a sharp poke on the side and closed the book and put it on her lap before fixing her partner with a glare.
"What?" she asked, letting out some of the annoyance she was feeling in her words.
"You saw Pyrrha fight that Boarbatusk didn't you?" Yang asked.
As if anybody could've missed such a thing.
"I did." She answered. And after seeing the Boarbatusk meet it's quick demise, she had decided to do her best to never get on Pyrrha Nikos' bad side. Like ever.
That girl was a monster and she doubted that even Adam would've been able to match her in a 1v1 fight.
"Do you think that we'll be able to take her on our own?" Yang asked.
She gave the girl a 'are you stupid' look.
Because even if they had a 5% chance of winning such a fight, she had no interest in picking up a fight with Pyrrha Nikos.
She hoped that Yang wasn't going to pick a fight with Pyrrha. Yang might be brash and act like a brute but she wasn't an idiot. At least she hoped she wasn't.
"Oh. Hey Yang!"
She was brought out of her thoughts by the shout and turned to see Yang's sister (adopted? Because they looked nothing like each other) ran up to them while pulling 'him' along with her.
She took his scent and heart beat sped up, her ears going erect and her hair in her back raising in goosebumps as she instantly went in a Fight and Flight mode.
She clenched her fists and controlled her reactions as Ruby introduced her teammates to them and proceeded to sit in their table.
She still didn't understand why she got this feeling whenever she was in the presence of Jaune Arc.
It was as if she was in the presence of an Apex predator. As if the boy sitting in front of her was a monster in human skin and could reach forward and swallow her up any moment.
She felt a nudge on her side and turned to see Yang looking at her in concern.
"Are you alright Blake? You're sweating quite a bit."
She grimaced. "I think I ate something that didn't quite agree with me. I'm gonna go to the room and take some rest."
"Do you want me to take you to the infirmary?" Yang asked with genuine concern that would've touched her if she didn't felt like she was running away for her life.
Before Yang could say anything else, she had already left the cafeteria and was running toward her room.
Only once she had entered her room and had closed the door behind her did she managed to take a breath of relief.
She put a hand on her breast, feeling her rapidly beating heart and wondered why she felt like that in Jaune's presence.
Was Jaune a Faunas as well?
He didn't show any features but he wouldn't be the first faunas who looked similar to a human or had easily hidden features.
Maybe he was a wolf or a dog faunus which was the reason behind her being so scared of her.
But that didn't make any sense.
She had lived and had met almost all kinds of Faunus in Menagerie or while she was with the White Fang and none of them scared her like Jaune did.
Maybe he was an unknown type of Faunus. Or maybe he had a Semblance that lets him put fear in other people and he was just fucking with her.
With how strange some semblance were, she wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.
She let out a sigh as she walked up to her bed and plopped down on it.
Pyrrha might be a monster when it came to combat potential but it was Jaune Arc that terrified her.
And she had no idea why.
She closed her eyes, hoping for sleep that won't come to her for a while.
