Chapter 8: Ability
Mu Qingqing looked at the dresses on the shelves and rack, a complicated look on her eyes before gazing at the tall girl's disappearing figure.
Her gaze hardened and she went after Lilian Mo.
Mu Qingqing stopped her by hugging her right arm.
"Momo, I was wrong. Don't be mad. I'll do what you say, okay?"
"But you don't believe me."
Mu Qingqing awkwardly chuckled. "Momo, it's hard to believe your words but I also know that you have your reasons for saying that... I will do what Momo says for now.."
'For now, she said. That's good enough for me..' Lilian Mo felt relieved when she heard this.
"Little girl, follow me for two months until July 5th. After that, it's your decision whether you want to continue doing what I want or not." Lilian Mo said, rubbing the girl's hair.
"Momo! You're ruining my hair!"
Lilian Mo smiled at her angry expression. For the whole day, Mu Qingqing tagged along with her and they bought all sorts of items and stocks for the apocalypse.
"Why are you buying nail polish?"
"Momo, if what you said is true then I must make sure I stay pretty even when the world is ending!"
"Why are you buying jewelry?"
"Momo, they would make me easy to recognize when I'm lost!"
"Why are you buying some makeup?"
"Momo, I have to make sure that I look beautiful no matter the circumstances!"
"Why are you buying heels?"
"Momo, this is to ugh.... hehe.."
"Don't waste money!"
Mu Qingqing pouted and reluctantly took the heels back to display. Lilian Mo dragged her to a shoe store and picked a few pairs for her, all in black.
"Black is so dull, Momo!"
"In the apocalypse, do you still have to worry about the color of your underwear?"
Mu Qingqing shrank back when she heard that.
Lilian Mo pushed her to the supermarket and they gathered some carts.
"Grab your toiletries and pads. You don't want to soil your pants during the apocalypse, right?"
Mu Qingqing nodded and grabbed herself the stuff she needed while Lilian Mo raided the shelves once again, leaving only one-third on display. The staff who saw her from yesterday blanched when he saw her back to the supermarket.
"Little girl, grab some bread and biscuits. Check the expiration date and also grab some water bottles. We'll have everything delivered to my apartment. Everything is on me today so take as much as you want."
"Momo, we're the same age! Why do you keep calling me a little girl?"
"Because you act like one," Lilian Mo said without mercy. The girl pouted for the hundredth time today like the spoiled brat that she was but she still obediently followed Lilian Mo.
"I'll drain your card dry, Momo!" Mu Qingqing stuck out her tongue and went on a shopping frenzy inside the supermarket.
"Do what you want." Lilian Mo didn't even bat an eyelash when she saw the rows of carts filled with stuff to the brim. She handed over her gold platinum card and paid for everything.
There was still so much money on her card which made her feel displeased. Mu Qingqing thought it was because she bought too much and felt guilty.
"Momo, I'm sorry. I used too much of your money today. I'll definitely pay you for the expenses!" Mu Qingqing handed over her own card but Lilian Mo shook her head.
"I still have 38.5 million yuan. We need to spend everything before July 5th. By July 5th, it'll be reduced to useless paper."
Mu Qingqing was bewildered when she heard how much money Lilian Mo has.
They bought so much and she still has so much money on her card?!
"Momo, I thought you were an orphan?" Mu Qingqing asked.
Lilian Mo glanced at her as they entered her car.
"I am. My parents died when I was eight. The old Chen couple took me in. When they passed away, they left a will, saying that they left me half of their money and assets while the other half went to the Chen family. You saw my apartment. I live alone." Lilian Mo said briefly.
"I will drive you home."
"Momo, you.." Mu Qingqing bit her lip. Her parents were always there for her and they doted on her a lot. She couldn't relate to Lilian Mo who had to live alone while being raised by strangers but she still admired Lilian Mo.
"Momo, if you need anything. Come to me, okay? I'm your friend so I will definitely help you!"
Lilian Mo didn't say anything but she nodded, signaling that she heard her. That was enough to make Mu Qingqing happy.
"Mizuki Rei comes back on the 28th of May. Keep in touch with him."
Mu Qingqing glanced at her. "Momo, how do you know that Reirei will come back?"
"It's the same reason why I know that the apocalypse is coming."
Seeing that Lilian Mo didn't want to elaborate, Mu Qingqing kept her mouth shut.
It was late when Lilian Mo got home. She took a quick shower and changed into her pajamas. She entered her space and drank the spring water. Her fatigue and tiredness were immediately gone after only one mouthful.
She sorted through all the new stuff that arrived and moved them to her space. Using her ownership of the space, she was able to move things at will inside. It was easy to plow fields and plant seeds. She used the water from the clear spring to water the plants.
She planted the vegetable crops and some fruit crops in separate areas. She also separated the animals and made a fence to keep them sorted.
When she was done, Lilian Mo started to meditate, absorbing the qi inside. She felt something warm and hard revolving inside her chest. She knew instantly that these two things were ability cores.
Her rebirth did not fail her and it allowed her advanced access to her abilities. Lilian Mo meditated some more until she could feel herself hitting a bottleneck in her stage.
Advancing to stage one was relatively easy for an awakened ability user and didn't have many requirements aside from absorbing energy from crystal cores that were found in mutants.
Absorbing the qi inside her space was also a good replacement for the energy she needed to advance. She started doing running exercises around the field to strengthen her stamina.
She also did a few more acrobatic exercises that she was familiar with. After going at it for a few hours, Lilian Mo finally made a breakthrough and advanced to Level one.
She could feel the strength radiating in her body. She formed a ball of fire in her hands and made rocks form shapes around her.
She trained with her ability for some time and it took her a while before she managed to use her magma ability.
She nearly burned her budding crops and was very regretful. She got out of her space, took another shower, and called it a day.
