Chapter 165: That Was His Voice

Because he didn't want to die, so he decided to live. Lu Jingren clenched his fists before releasing his ice abilities. While he could no longer feel the pain from backlash, at that moment, he couldn't care. All he wanted was to be released from captivity.

In the space, the spring water froze within seconds, followed by a hand breaking through the surface and Lu Jingren dragging himself out. He climbed out but an invisible force tried to grab on his foot, wanting to pull him down.

He looked down and could feel the water coiling around his leg. He tried to grab forward, not wanting to back down easily but with one strong pull, his body sunk back and water surrounded him again.

The ice had melted and as he once again tried to freeze it, the water simply melted back into liquid. He knew then that it was useless. The spring water had its own consciousness and as soon as Lu Jingren stopped struggling, it didn't coil or squeeze him anymore.

It drifted his body down to the bottom, quite calmly as if he was simply floating.

The bottom was dark and was about twelve feet deep where there was hardly light so he couldn't see very well.

When he thought of reaching the bottom ground soon, he discovered that he could breathe. He didn't have time to mull over this matter because he was suddenly thrown roughly. He passed through water and landed on the cold, hard ground with a thud.

Lu Jingren winced, slowly looking up.

The spring water hovered above his head, defying gravity, as a few drops landing on him.

While it was dark in the water, the ground he was in was a place where light could reach. He wasn't sure where the light was coming from but since he could see that the place was illuminated, he got up and slowly looked around.

He seemed to be in a white cave.

There were white rocks and white dirt and soil on the ground. Even the cave walls were all white. He saw a white box near the wall and bent down to pick it up. When he opened it, he saw a bunch of pictures.

It was the girl he kept dreaming about.

She was beautiful, with a pair of dark eyes and a small yet genuine smile on her little face. Her long black hair flowed elegantly behind her back. She didn't look at the camera and he guessed that the pictures must have been taken secretly.

He saw one picture that stood out.

The girl wasn't alone.

He was there with her.

Lu Jingren instantly became confused because he did not remember taking such a photo. Furthermore, the him in the photo was a bit older?

Lu Jingren squinted his eyes and observed the picture very carefully.

The two people looked like a couple if not for him who wasn't smiling.

People always did say that there was something wrong with his face.

But why did they blame him? He was born this way. It wasn't like he could change himself just to please them. He didn't want to live that kind of life.

The picture brought some bad memories back so he quietly put it down and closed the box again.

Lu Jingren felt that he was intruding on someone else's privacy when looked at them. He placed down the box and stepped away, only to trip on something.

It was another white box.

They say curiosity killed the cat but at least the cat was happy so naturally, Lu Jingren also picked up this box and opened it.

It was another bunch of pictures.

He wisely closed it without looking at them, already knowing who the subject was. He suddenly felt embarrassed. That girl looked so much like his fiance that Lu Jingren couldn't help but feel uncomfortable.

He sighed and leaned on the wall only to fall back down, passing through it.

There were truly a lot of surprising things that happened today.

But being dragged by water and passing through walls was no doubt two of his most memorable experiences.

"It took you a lot longer to come."

Lu Jingren stiffened. The sudden voice came from nowhere. He looked around and only saw the mist.

The mist moved leisurely around him before moving to the front and slowly forming a shape. It elongated, grew four limbs and a head until it resembled a human.

Whether it was male or not, Lu Jingren couldn't tell. However, the voice told him what he wanted to know.

It was because that was his voice.

Note: Lol, I kinda enjoy writing chapters centering about Lu Jingren because they are all so dramatic and full of tension. And he is so calm, like why the hell are you so calm bruhhh
