Chapter 5: Wayside Inn 3

In Rogue Lineage, players with the super class, Assassin, had to obtain it through killing. After killing a certain amount of players, they would talk to a trainer and pay money to get their class skills. Alex pondered whether or not the same system would apply to the world he was in. What Alex was thrown into might appear like his favorite game, Rogue Lineage, at first glance, but as he noticed the way the people sitting and chatting at the bar downstairs moved and talked, it looked way too realistic to him comparing it to Rogue Lineage's basic walking and running animations. As he's said before, something as basic as sitting down at one of the tables or taking a seat at one of the stools at the bar wasn't something you can just do in-game. It was never added as a mechanic by the devs. Alex had to give in to the fact that the world of Gaia he was in simply wasn't the Gaia he knew in Rogue Lineage. There were too many different realistic traits this one had. Based on this, could this world be even called Gaia? He hadn't even seen what lay outside of Wayside Inn yet and thought he wouldn't do so anytime soon, scared of what was outside. he wasn't Alexander, The Hateful anymore, he was a fresh spawn. No money, reputation, Tools, or weapons. Nothing. How would he even get food to drinks to survive? Even with his knowledge about Rogue Lineage, there wasn't much he could do.

Alex was in deep thinking about all of this when he suddenly heard a knock on the door. Before Alex could answer, the door burst open, and the person that stepped in was someone with yellow eyes, grey skin, short, black hair, and a menacing expression. Alex knew someone with such features to be a Rigan, one of the more common races in Rogue Lineage, next to Haseldan. Rigan's had a natural affinity for mana. Mana, in Rogue Lineage, is used for many things. climbing, running faster, rolling farther, punching farther, and performing abilities. In order to do all of this, you would have to train your mana, and Rigan's had a talent for doing that 2x quicker than any other race. Mana itself was something that had to be unlocked, either by intense training or by getting hit by a "cursed spell", which would forcibly unlock the mana in your body upon receiving it.

"Sir, your water? I was told you ordered it from the bartender down-stairs but have yet to receive the drink."

Alex was startled and accepted the drink without thinking.

"Oh, yes, thank you then."

As Alex was about to raise the water to his lips, taking a sip, he stopped. He felt the Rigans gaze on him, the same as the Dzin downstairs, and immediately remembered his conversation with the bartender downstairs. Alex set the water down on his bed next to him.

'I told the bartender I didn't have any money to pay for a water.' Alex said to himself.

This would mean the Rigan must have been listening in partly to my short talk with the bartender. Why would he though? To drug me? Alex didn't even know if there was such a thing in this world. He then remembered poison being in Rogue Lineage

"I didn't order any water, as I had no money to do so." Alex told the Rigan.

The Rigan flashed a look of surprise before seemingly nodding his head.

"I should have thought that was the case...but that would mean.." The Rigan began mumbling to himself.

' Does he have a mental condition?' Alex wondered.

Alex couldn't hear exactly what he was saying to himself and stared at him, both confused and afraid. It was obvious the Rigan wanted him to drink the water, which probably had poison in it, or something similar. Knowing this, Alex can guess the Rigan was harboring ill intent towards him and wanted to kill him quietly. Alex first thought after realizing this was to escape, except the Rigan in deep thought was blocking the front door to the hallway. Alex then noticed a bronze dagger sheathed at the Rigan's side.

' A thief base class?' He thought, hastily recalling a few early memories about Rogue Lineage.

The neutral base class, Thief, was a class one would have before killing other players, becoming the chaotic variation of the super, Assassin. the orderly variation of Thief would catch criminals that have killed and jail them, becoming a Spy. It was obvious which super the Rigan was going since he went out of his way to confront some random fresh spawn with nothing on him. He wanted to become an Assassin. Knowing this, without any way to escape, he would have no choice but to fight. Haseldans have a racial ability they get called Last Stand, which if the players were to get below 20% HP, their character would go into a rage, their vision turning red, and their Damage + Defense would multiply by 2x. Alex would hope this passive ability could beat him.

"Well since I couldn't kill you quietly...." Rigan looked at Alex with malicious intent before lunging at him, unsheathing the dagger he held at his side in the process and holding it up high, wanting to run it through Alex's head.

Alex started to block, thinking that he would only take chip damage. he then remembered the moment after that chip damage didn't exist in this world and dodged at the last second. The Rigan narrowly missed Alex's head but still got his arm, causing it to bleed profusely. The Rigan, not expecting him to dodge so quickly, tripped and fell on his face, causing his nose to bleed.

'Shit!" The Rigan clutched at his nose with his free hand.

Normally Alex would be in extreme pain right now, clutching at his arm, but for some reason, all he felt was extreme anger building up inside him towards the Rigan for daring to injure his left arm. Alex's vision turned red and blurry. Alex was confused for a moment.

'Do I have anger issues?' He thought. After a moment he smiled, realizing what was happening.

'It's starting to kick in....my passive ability.' Alex must be below 20% HP or close, due to the Rigans attack.

'If that was the case, did that mean if he didn't dodge the Rigans lunge and attempted to block....' Alex shook his head.

Alex saw the Rigan laying on the floor next to his bed and saw his chance. Alex aimed a kick at the bronze dagger in the Rigans' hand, knocking it across the floor and causing the Rigan once again to shriek in pain, clutching at his hand. Alex then got on top of the Rigan, remembering the way to grip someone in Rogue Lineage, and raised his right fist.

"Easy," Alex said to the man before punching him across the face 4 times, knocking him out on the 4th.

CREATORS' THOUGHTS
MyriadTempest MyriadTempest

In order for a player to grip someone in Rogue Lineage, they would first have to the other players' health down to 10%, knocking them to the ground. Then the player would mount that same person, punching him 4 times in the face, which would result in a grip, killing the other player.
