Chapter 11: Chapter 11 : Drake
(this is Drake's POV)
The new Pope is strange.
Not strange in a bad way, but strange nonetheless. He's like this burst of bright life. He's smart, and funny but seems to radiate this unconscious pressure I'm sure the goddess chose him for. He seems born to lead, not that he realizes. He tends to use me as a complaint box.
Always comes to me griping and crying about all the paperwork and this vermin who keeps trying to approach his family.
He even showed me this wonderful garden that seems hidden from the rest of us mortals. He showed me his sanctuary by the lake and I decided to push him in. I don't know why.
No. I do. I watched him stand and laugh, robes drenched with holy water. He's breathtaking. His darker complexion and his silver hair clash and mesh all the same, creating a beautiful contrast.
His eyes...greener than green but also a startling yellow in the sunlight.
Absolutely breathtaking.
He calls me strange but he's the strange one.
The oddity.
Goddess chosen.
I see it, and so does everyone else but him.
And for some odd reason, my heart is beating like the wings of a bird flitter in the wind; and the blush that I'm currently fighting is winning.
Breathtakingly strange.
But beautiful, nonetheless.
