Chapter 11: CHAPTER 11 - TALKING TO SOME ARROGANT DWARFS

*POP*

Suddenly appearing in a beautiful flat grass field, Jonah began to look around for something exciting and found that behind him was an entrance to a gigantic Everest-like mountain.

With a hole in the middle large enough to fit a big truck, this mountain had some kind of cave inside it, so Jonah decided to take a look inside.

Wandering inside the dark and damp cave for a bit, Jonah created a small ball of light on top of his head using magic so that he could see in the dark without issues.

"No signs of life..." He muttered to himself.

As he made his way deeper into the cave, the single path that he was following diverged itself into 3 possible paths: left, middle, and right path.

Stuck on which one he should follow, he chose to do something that would help him go to all 3 of them - create clones!

With his omnipotence, he easily created 2 clones, both of which were naturally not omnipotent but had enough magical power to take down a Cthulhu level beast with a sneeze.

"Clone 1, you go to the left. Clone 2, go right. I'll be going down the middle. Send me any useful information that you might find."Jonah instructed.

Receiving a nod of agreement from both clones, they made their way inside their respective paths, with the main Jonah going towards the middle path.

Walking an uneventful path for 5 minutes, Jonah finally received some new information from Clone 1.

'Yo, main Jonah, trade places with me; I might've found something interesting.' Clone 1 telepathically told Jonah.

'Alright,' Jonah proceeded to switch positions with Clone 1, so now he was in the left path, and Clone 1 was going down the middle path.

The moment Jonah switched places with the clone, he noticed that there was some activity ahead of him, "Finally, some indications of life..." he said.

"Give me 2 kilos of Pyristonite!" He heard a rough voice say.

Silently sneaking up to the place he heard voices from, he gradually began to hear loud noises of metals and furnaces.

*clank* *clank* *clank*

'That's definitely the sound of someone hitting metal...' He thought. 'It is probably some Dwarfs. I remember that this planet has Dwarfs as one of its main races, so it makes sense for them to live inside these caves where minerals are abundant. Also because every story that has a Dwarf race says that they live in caves or mountains, so yeah.'

Creeping closer to the source of the sounds, he deleted the ball of light that was hovering above his head and used his Sound Magic to erase the noise he was making.

Finally, seeing some light inside the dark cave, he continued to creep closer and closer until he eventually managed to get a glimpse of one of the creatures inside.

'Knew it...' He thought.

A little distance away from him was a small little human, but one thing that differed it from a human was its incredibly small size. Standing at around 90 centimeters tall, this dwarf had broad shoulders, a big, full brown beard, and was actually very muscular. He was, as Jonah expected, hitting a pink glowing metal on an anvil using a silver hammer that had some weird runes inscribed into it.

Observing this working Dwarf were about a dozen similar Dwarfs, all having big hairy beards and brawny short bodies. It appeared that this working Dwarf was some sort of master or teacher here since all the other Dwarfs were attentively watching him work the metal.

'Watching this Dwarf work is actually kinda relaxing...' Jonah thought after seeing the master Dwarf work for a few minutes. But, before revealing himself, he wanted to see this Dwarf's status, so he used Appraisal on him.

'Damn, this guy really wasn't made for battle... 290 BP.' Jonah laughed quietly.

Removing his Sound Magic, Jonah walked up to the focused master Dwarf. The rest of the Dwarfs seemed to not see him due to their absolute focus on the master Dwarf's actions.

"Hello there," Jonah poked Barrigg's right shoulder, breaking his concentration into a million pieces.

With a severe expression on his face, Barrigg slowly turned around. "Who dares interrupt me?! I was in the middle of creating a Legendary rated sword!"

As his eyes landed on the tall, white-haired man in front of him, his look became gradually darker.

"Why are you here, human?! Why did you interfere with my work?! How will you pay for what you've done?! I used 2 kilograms of Pyristonite to forge that sword! Now everything is ruined because of you!" He immediately pointed his muscular finger to Jonah's face and began to shout.

"Wow, wow, slow down!" Jonah tried to calm him down, "There's no need to be this mad. I can give you the 2 kilograms of Pyristonite that you used."

"Ha! I very much doubt that! Pyristonite is one of the rarest metals in the world and can only be found in small quantities on the Wulux Continent, and even then, it can only be obtained if 5 mages work together to remove it from its shell! There's no way that a scrawny human like you can get 2 kilograms of it!" Barrigg scoffed at Jonah.

Putting his hands inside his pockets, he removed them after a second, and on both of his hands was a beautiful pink glowing crystal.

"Say that again?" Jonah said with a smirk.

With his jaw down on the floor, Barrigg regained his composure after a few seconds. "How...? How?!"

"Magic," Jonah replied. 'Wait, this world actually has magic, so that's not a very good reply...whatever.'

"Hmph! Fine! I'll accept your apology! Now scram! I don't want to keep looking at a lowly human!" Barrigg said after he quickly grabbed the Pyristonites from Jonah's hands and gestured for him to leave.

"You should talk to me with some more respect, Barrigg. I get that I ruined your forging, but I already repaid for that in full. Right now, you're just being a pretentious bastard for nothing." Jonah got tired of his arrogance.

Barrigg lightly snickered at Jonah's words. "Oh, my! Am I supposed to be afraid just because you are an Appraisal skill holder? Hahaha! You're 100 years too old to try and threaten me, kid! I might not be strong enough on my own, but with my Ruinic Equipment I can easily destroy you!"

"Hahaha! No, no, obviously not! You should be afraid because I can literally unmake your entire race whenever I want! Hahaha!" Jonah smiled at Barrigg and released just a tiny bit of his magical power, which was already enough to cause all Dwarfs there to hallucinate and see an image of a Grim Reaper in Jonah.

"Well, I didn't come here to cause trouble. I was just curious about your race, but I've lost my enthusiasm now. I know that you all think you are so important and superior since I looked into your minds, but you're not even worth acknowledging on the grand scale of things. Anyway, see ya." He teleported away from the cave and dispersed the 2 clones that were still inside.

'My first impression of the Dwarfs really wasn't good... If their only value to the world as a whole is their skill in blacksmithing and forging, then they're honestly very replaceable. Oh well, judging them by using the universe as a scale isn't really fair, so I'll just let them be.' he thought as he floated in the sky.

Knowing that there were still 2 and a half hours until the Adventurers Guild test, he became extremely bored, so he did the one thing he thought of: fast-forward time until the test!

Fast-forwarding time until 11:55 am, Jonah teleported himself to a random deserted alleyway in Ebonick and walked towards the Adventurers Guild.

Reaching the luxurious building, Jonah quickly noticed that it was packed with people. There were individuals carrying swords and wearing armor, people with daggers on their waists and hoods covering their faces, and even someone completely naked! He was quickly dragged away by nearby city guards, though...

"Looks like a lot of people want to become adventurers..." Jonah said to himself.

Moving through the crowd, Jonah entered the Adventurers Guild building and searched for Testing Area 5 as the lady from the day before instructed.

Quickly finding it, he made his way inside through the wooden door.

Stepping inside, he was met with a large flat dirt field. In the middle of the dirt field was a 10x10 meters fighting ring made of what seemed to be concrete. Outside the ring were several practice targets in human shape, which were probably going to be used for the test. Training Area 5, like all other Training Areas, was outdoors, so the sun was showering Jonah with its rays. The Training Area was actually quite large, measuring a solid 75x75 meters, which allowed for a lot of people to take the test simultaneously.

Since there was still a couple of minutes before the test began, Jonah found a small bench near the entrance and sat down on it. From his quick inspection of the place, he was one of only 3 people there currently. One was a short and cute young lady with a ponytail and a blue robe covering her entire body and a staff that was bigger than her on her right hand. The other was a tall muscled dude that wore some light armor. On the right side of his waist was a small steel dagger and on the left side of his waist was a long staff with a red gem on top.

As the clock winded down the minutes, more and more people began to enter Training Area 5. At exactly 12 pm, the large outdoor area now had 13 people. One distinct thing was that literally everyone there had a staff with them, except Jonah. It was only natural since the test Jonah was going to take was specifically a test for mages, and mages need a staff to channel their magic.

"Silence!" A commanding voice resounded throughout the entire area.

Instantly, everyone that was chatting shut their mouths and began to pay attention to the man responsible for speaking - the light armor-wearing dude that had a dagger and a staff.

"You are all here to take part in the Adventurers Guild mage test, correct?" The man loudly asked.

"Yes!" Everyone shouted. Even Jonah joined in on the choir.

"Good! I am Frederick Ingrassia, a B-ranked adventurer whose class is CQC Mage. As the name implies, I am a close-quarters fighter and a mage. That's why I always carry my dagger and my staff with me! You," He pointed at Jonah, "Where is your staff?"

"I don't need one." Jonah bluntly replied.

With a confused look on his face, Frederick spoke once again, "What do you mean you don't need one? Every mage needs a staff."

"Well, there have been a handful of ancient mages who managed to do staffless magic, so no, not every mage needs a staff," Jonah argued, repeating what Tessa had said to him about staffless magic.

"You are correct, but that technique has long been lost. Are you saying that you can do staffless magic?" Frederick asked, not mocking Jonah at all. Even though what he asked sounded stupid, he was actually curious about this individual who dared not bring a staff to a mage test.

"Precisely," Jonah replied with a smile.

"Hahahahaha! We've got a joker with us!" Someone from the small crowd laughed out loud.

"Show us how you can use staffless magic, hotshot!" Another one yelled.

"Silence!" Frederick shouted.

*BANG*

The door to Training Area 5 was swung open with immense force.

"Is Jonah Peterheart here?!" A man clad in golden armor yelled as his eyes darted from person to person.

Lifting his hand, Jonah replied, "Yep."

Recognizing who this man was, Jonah spoke again. "Oh! You're Gayken Granola, right?"
