Yeah! Here's the new chapter!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the disastrous Valentine's Day, my school days continued to pass normally. Gryffindor's match against Hufflepuff has already taken place, with Gryffindor winning by a large margin, something that saddened the Hufflepuffs who are on a losing streak.

Seeing Gryffindor easily defeating Hufflepuff, Hillton decided to increase our training time, much to the dismay of some of the team.

But in addition to training for my next Quidditch match, I also continued with my studies and training.

My enhanced hearing could withstand high-pitched sounds for quite some time now, and now if I'm in a duel I won't have to worry about my enemy using my senses against me.

I also started to show some progress in my attempt to create my own unsupported flight spell, and even though that progress was small, it was still some progress when I thought about the amount of time it took me to learn to levitate off the ground, especially when I remembered that I could only levitate for 5 seconds.

Now I could easily transfigure my feet into mist, and I know that's not much, but now that I've transfigured my foot, I already know the sensation and experience it takes to transfigure the rest of my body.

Another important thing to remember is that luckily within a week the dagger made of goblin silver would be delivered to me.

And with that, it also meant I was basically a week away from my showdown with the Basilisk. And this confrontation could very well be considered the first real challenge I'll have since the moment I was reborn in this magical world.

-Professor McGonagall's Office-

"So Ethan, what brings you to my office?" Professor McGonagall asked me, pouring me a cup of tea.

"Can't I just want to come talk to one of my favorite teachers?" I asked with a cheeky smile on my face.

"Flattery won't get you a higher grade in my class, Ethan," Professor McGonagall said, but with a soft smile on her face.

"Well I tried" I shrugged. I then took a sip of the tea, "This tea is wonderful Professor Minnie" I said, but then looked at Professor McGonagall who was holding her mug of tea.

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Glad to see you like the mug I got you for Christmas my first year," I said, hiding my amused smile with my cup.

"Hmph! Cheeky boy," she replied, and my smile widened at her response.

"But back to my question, what would you like to talk to me about, Ethan? I know you wouldn't come to my office so suddenly if you didn't have something to talk to me about" Professor McGonagall asked me, and I put my cup on the table and looked at her.

"Actually, I came here because I'd like to ask you some questions about Transfiguration," I said, and Professor McGonagall looked at me with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, and what are those questions?" she asked me with interest, for whenever I asked her questions, my questions ended up leading us into an exciting and intellectual conversation.

"I wanted to ask you about Human Transfiguration" I replied, "More specifically about a wizard transfiguring his own body"

When I finished speaking, Professor McGonagall looked at me with a serious look.

"And tell me, why would you want to know about Human Transfiguration, Ethan?" she asked me suspiciously.

"I know what you're thinking teacher, and no, I'm not thinking about transfiguring my own body" I said to reassure her, 'Even because I'm already doing that'

She then looked at me carefully, and after a while she let out a sigh.

"Fine... But you still haven't answered why you want to know about Human Transfiguration," she told me, leaning back in her seat.

"It's just that I was reading about Animagus, and I was curious to know if anyone can become an Animagus without needing the potion, or if anyone has tried and failed," I said, a look of curiosity on my face.

"Well... I wouldn't say it's impossible to do that without the help of the potion" Professor McGonagall said, "A wizard can transform into any animal using just his wand. And in fact, with this method the wizard would be able to transform into any animal he wanted, something that is not possible with the common transformation method that is using the potion"

"Yes, I know that some wizards have an inner animal that is the one the potion helps to bring out, and that these wizards can only transform into that one animal until the end of their lives," I said, and Professor McGonagall nodded.

"Yes, but that's where the problem lies... The potion not only helps the wizard to find his inner animal, it also gives the wizard the ability to transform himself back into a human, without the need for a wand" she continued, and I started to understand the problem of turning into an Animagus without the potion.

"And someone who transfigures himself into an animal without the potion will not have this ability and as such will be trapped in said animal's form forever, until another wizard transfigures him back." I finished for her, and Professor McGonagall looked at me satisfied and proud.

"Yes, and believe me, unless the wizard has transfigured himself in the presence of a friend, hardly anyone will undo the transfiguration, as no one goes around casting spells on random animals to turn them back into humans" a Professor McGonagall said dryly, and my lips curled up slightly in amusement.

"Knowing wizards, and the lack of common sense of most of them, your point becomes moot," I said, and it was Professor McGonagall's turn to smile in amusement.

"Yeah... I guess I forgot to take that point into account" she said, sipping some of the tea that was in her mug.

"But you know Professor Minnie, a partial Transfiguration wouldn't be a problem, right?"

'Ah... What would happen to my reputation if the other teachers or any student saw Ethan calling me Professor Minnie?' Professor McGonagall thought, more amused than worried.

"Well Ethan... Partial Human Transfiguration is normal, but wizards usually don't transfigure themselves" she replied, "After all, a partial human transfiguration is not as useful as a complete transfiguration"

"Isn't it useful? What if a wizard wants more strength? He could transfigure your arms into bear arms, or maybe transfigure your legs into kangaroo legs to jump higher," I argued.

"But tell me Ethan, which of these abilities can't be acquired with the help of a spell?" Professor McGonagall asked me.

...

...

"Okay, you have a good point," I said.

"Well, but just between us Ethan, don't you think transforming into a full animal is a lot cooler than just having some animal body part?" Professor McGonagall asked me with a smile on her face.

"Well... I think so" I said smiling.

'But I still think that between being an Animagus and having my Beast Power, I'd rather keep my Beast Power' I thought with a little pride.

"But I have another question teacher... What about Human Transfiguration into Objects?" I asked, "I know that at least in this type of transfiguration the wizard can undo the transfiguration himself."

"Of course he can! When a wizard transfigures himself into an object, his wand is transfigured along with him, as are his clothes, so he can use his wand even as an object." she replied to me, "Only it obviously has certain limitations, but they are limitations of the Transfiguration you already know"

"Hmm, yes," I said. I then drank some of the tea, "I think with that you answered all the questions that were on my mind" I said with a smile.

"I'm glad to hear that," Professor McGonagall said, also smiling.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After my conversation with Professor McGonagall the questions that were on my mind were clarified.

I was wondering why no one has ever tried to change their body using Transfiguration, obviously not counting the Metamorphmagus.

And my conversation with her also made me realize that my attempts to create my own Unsupported Flight spell were very dangerous and risky.

But luckily I had the power and ability to use wandless magic, so I didn't have to worry about what would happen if I managed to completely transform myself into a mist.

If I couldn't use wandless magic I might as well have turned to mist forever in these tests of mine, where I might have been blown away by the wind.

-Great Hall – Lunch-

"Sad to know that no one is asking for your autograph lately, Potter?" Malfoy asked with a mocking smile on his face.

"Sad to know that even with their 2001 Nimbus the Slytherin team still hasn't managed to win a single game this season Malfoy?" Harry snapped, bringing a frown to Malfoy's face.

Ron next to Harry laughed at Malfoy, causing the blond boy to turn to him.

"What are you laughing about Weasley? At least I have money to buy a broom," he said, and Ron was about to open his mouth to say something, but Granger was quicker.

"Unfortunately money can't buy talent either," she commented, not even taking her eyes off her book. And this time Ron laughed looking into Malfoy's face.

Malfoy considered calling Granger a mudblood, but he knew doing so while surrounded by Gryffindors wouldn't be smart.

The four then continued with their exchange of insults, while those around them watched with interest.

And I, who was eating a delicious chocolate pudding and strawberries, was also watching this confrontation from a VIP seat, which happened to be at the Gryffindor table, with me sitting next to the twins.

As Malfoy was getting ready to head back to his table after dropping one last mocking comment to the trio, I spoke to the twins, catching his attention.

"So Gred, what did you think of this confrontation?" I asked the twin sitting to my left, who happened to be George.

"Hmm, I think it was a little repetitive, but I'll still give it a 7 for the entertainment" George replied, "And what do you think Forge?" he asked his brother.

"I liked the way Harry retorted Malfoy's mockery, and the face Malfoy made was very convincing. And Hermione's comment... That was amazing" Fred said, his hand on his chin in thought, "That's why I give it a 7.5. Ethan?"

"Well, it was fun, but I think their tone lacked emotion. I will give them a 6," I said critically. I then looked at the golden trio and Malfoy who were looking at me and the twins strangely, "And I could have given it a higher grade, but Malfoy's mockery lacked creativity" I continued.

Malfoy, when he heard the end of my sentence, looked at me with an indignant look, as if my low grade was heresy to him. He then looked at Harry, at me, and then at Harry again.

"I hope in your next match against Ravenclaw you don't fall off your Potter broom. You don't want your nickname to change from scarhead to scarbody" Malfoy said, and his two gorillas behind him chuckled. He then turned to me, as if expecting something.

"Wow, that was new and unexpected... He even complimented Ravenclaw indirectly. Now my grade has gone up to 9.5" I said in surprise, clapping my hands for Malfoy.

Malfoy then looked at Harry with superiority, and Harry replied with a scowl before turning to me with an exasperated look, at which I shrugged.

'Yes… I made the right choice when I decided to come to lunch at the Gryffindor table' I thought.

End.
