Chapter 8: MYSTIQUE DAY
I sat in the car with nani. She hold my hand . I am in quiver. She told me that you had temperature. I too find out that I had temperature because my muscle aches and my head too more than that I feel dizzy. Nani called him and told him to buy some medicines in nearby medical store. He said okay granny. He went to the medical store nani and I waited in the car . I told her , I am sorry nani, I gave you so much of trouble . She was so good and she even hold my hand . I felt her like a soft cotton and so warm. With her touch, I felt that my mother was with me. I huged her and started to cry . She is so empathetic. He came back , so I wiped my tears and sat back normally. I felt so embarassed infront of him. But, beyond my imagination he was so polite, polished in behaviour and also sweet infront of his grandma.
Suddenly the car has stopped ,may be we reached the destination . He stepped out of the car and even opened my door and went to open grandma's door . And even he hold her hand . He was so courteous, attentive and even thoughtful . They both went inside the house. I was standing in the balcony . It's raining heavily so I can't see exterior of the house . Nani turned her head and told me to come inside. We all were wet ,because of the rain . I went inside, the hall was soo spacious . The interior was fully decorated in old indian fashion. With bright colours, the statues are so good and perfectly matched with the furniture .
I can see that there are two bedrooms and a kitchen . I was just noticing all around .
He came out of nani's room . I was still standing ,because my dress is wet . I was afraid to damage their sofa. He then gave me a towel and also a pair of PJs. And told me to get fresh up in nani's room . I went to nani's room and took a bath and wore the dress he gave me it's too large in size but I managed and came outside . I looked around . A sound came from the kitchen . So I just peeked into the kitchen. He was cutting the veggies. He saw me . But didn't say a word . So I just go in and told him that I will help you . He said it's okay ,I can manage , you are not well, you just take some good rest, I am used to cooking . But I said , I insist to help you. Atlast he gave me a chance to help him. I rolled my sleeves up . And started to cut the veggies with him.
He was so timid . He started cooking . I just did the veggies and stood there. I told him do you remember me ? He said yes . I stood silent for a while . He told me to rest for a while . I sat on sofa. Meanwhile nani came to me and sat besides me and she asked me about my details. I told her my name is dove and I am from India came to study arts . She treated me as her own grand daughter . We chatted for a while and she even showed me her album. Omg ! She was so gorgeous when she was young. And she was a dancer too . She got so many awards . I asked her about the awards . She suddenly went inside, I just followed her . She went in to a room , I waited outside and was watching her . She opened a jewellery box and told me to come in . She showed me all her awards and medals. I felt the warmth of her . I felt she is really my nani for a while. But I realised she was not.
He came in and told us that dinner is ready. Dinner table is set but there are only two chairs . He arranged a third chair for me . Nani said we don't have visitors since a long time. I saw her in pain when she told me that sentence . I told her from now onwards you will have to buy an extra chair and a dinner bowl . Because I will visit you often nani .
She felt so happy and even tears came from her eyes. We started to eat and nani finished her food so fast and went to her room telling us that I am too tired today so I'll leave first, you both continue to enjoy your food. We starred at eachother and started to eat our food . He told me , sorry . I asked him why ? He told me I miss understood you at first. Oh no! he do remember the incident from airport . Oh shed! I feel so sheepish . He told me that I do remember you .
I thought should I reason him ? should I tell him sorry too? Should I tell him what had happened on that day ? Oh no ! I forgot to ask him his name . Should I ask him ? Or should I let him tell? What should I do ? Should I leave ? Ohh it's soo stressful . My brain is getting damaged with all this thoughts . I am making it awful day by day. He made a sound with spoon and told me that my name is ALVIS , what happened is just a misunderstanding ,let's be friends and thank you for today, my granny was so happy , I didn't see her like this before . I was just struck with his words . And had no words to say . I just gave him a handshake and told him I am Dove, and I finished my dinner and grab all the dishes and went to the kitchen to wash them. He followed me and told me that I will do the dishes you go have some medicine and go to bed early. I said I am alright now ,I can help you to wash the dishes . But he insisted .
So , I left the place and went to nani's bed room .
He knocked the door ,I opened it ,he gave me a quilt and left . Nani awoke from a light drowse ,mean while I arranged my bed to sleep. Nani and I chated so long . She told me about grand pa and their life in India . But I had a doubt about Alvis parents, but I didn't dare to ask her . Nani was so sweet . In a short time she became one of my dear one and I even forgot about John and the incidents happened that day after meeting nani. I thought god gave me chance to forget all the things happened . After a while we dozed off.
I woke up early in the morning may be because it's a new place to me. I walked to the hallway . I was shocked to see Alvis . He was doing yoga in the lawn . I didn't observe that there is a lawn outside ,it has a glass door with dark coloured curtains ,may be last night the curtains were closed so that's why I didn't seen it. I opened the door and went outside . The lawn was so beautiful with different varieties of flowers and were nicely trimmed trees and also there are some variety of statues which were made in India. I feel that I am in India for a moment . I missed my country and my hometown . I became homesick for a while .
Meanwhile nani woke up and came to me and told me to get fresh up . I went inside and prepared myself . And came out of the rest room . Nani placed a dress on the bed with a note saying, it's for you from nani with a smiley . Ohhh !! It's sooo touching ,so lovely . I shed tears . And wore the dress she gave me . And came outside the room. Nani was sitting in the sofa. I just closed her eyes from backside And told her to close your eyes for a while . And I stood infront of her and told her to open her eyes. She opened her eyes and saw me and told me that you are looking so beautiful , so gorgeous .But, My eyes searched for him . But he was not seen anywhere . I just sat with nani with a slight disappointment . After a while I exclaimed ,oh shed ! Nani asked me, what happened ? I told her I forgot to call su my friend . I asked her phone and called su . Su picked up the phone on the first ring ,She was so worried and asked me, are you alright ? Where are you ? Is everything okay? Send me the address ? I will come pick you up ? She was asking all the questions she had in her mind . So, I just send her my location . Meanwhile Alvis came out of his room . He was so good-looking , so handsome . I was just starring at him . He was telling me something ,I didn't pay much attention to his words ,but I was still starring at him . In a moment nani's phone ranged . I came back to my sense and felt so embarassed and awkward for a moment.
Nani gave me her phone telling that it's your friend . I just took the phone and asked her what happened? She told me that John is also too worried about you and he to want to come with me to pick you up . I shouted at her no. And I glanced at nani and Alvis and told them just a moment. I went to the lawn talking to her in the phone. I yelled at her and even told her to not to come to pick me up . And cut the phone . And with a weird smile I went inside and I gave phone to nani and I asked her to tell his grand son to drop me at the university. She asked Alvis , he said okay, and told nani that I already told her that I will drop her, because, I had some work in her university ,I was going there to collect some paper work. But she was kept silent at that moment .
I felt so embarassed. And packed my rollerskates and the dress . I told nani Bye. She was weeping and with a heavy heart she gave me a send off . I told her I will visit you this weekend . With that word she felt happy . He opened the front door of the car so I sat in and he went to the other side and started the engine . He told me to buckle up ,but I didn't pay attention to him ,I was weeping in silent ,I was already missing nani .
In a sudden he came near me my heart turns into a panic mode . My heart is beating even harder than being chased by a dog . He fastened my seatbelt. I was starring at him . He was soo handsome at the very moment. He was back to his seat and started to drive . I was kept silent for a moment . He asked me are you a professional in dance . I said no ,dance is just my hobo. He was in shock and exclaimed really!! . I said yes. Again he remained silent . We reached our destination . He unfastened his belt . Again I drowned into my thoughts of how to face John and everyone . I am afraid of everyone . He again came near me . Oh no ! not again, my heartbeat really fast like a drum that was given to unprofessionals. It's like I was chasing by a lion . He unfastened my seatbelt. I just came out of the car and told him thank you and left the place as fast as I can .
I went to the dorm John and su are waiting downstairs . I am afraid to face them . So, I just left to my department . I went to the department . Everyone are again starring at me , some are commenting in a sarcastic way , some felt jealous but I was used to them from the first day . With all the things a side, I went into my class room . I asked shira her phone I called su and told her that I reached the university and I was in my classroom don't worry about me . She told me that they are waiting for me downstairs the dorm . I told her don't wait for me, I had some important work so I was in the class . And I also told her that I will be late at night.
I know they were worrying . But I don't have another choice .I am afraid to face them. So I am ignoring them . I think I want to concentrate more on my studies than other things now. because my assignment was kept pending . mean while Su and John both came to my department to see me . I went to them I saw them worried . John told me sorry about last day . I told him to give me some time I had so much of work to do and I left the place . They too went away. I started to work on my assignment . I went to the library . And started to search for some oil painting books and I found some and started to read them all. In my conclusion I started to paint a beautiful abstract one .
I just finished half painting it's getting too late . So I went back to my dorm . On my way back I was thinking about Alvis . What ? I questioned myself , Why am I thinking about him ? Again . On the whole day I did remember him more than 20times . What happened to me ? I don't know . I reached dorm . John is waiting downstairs . He wants to talk to me I know that ,but I don't I feel timid more than that unsecure to talk to him . But I want to give him one more chance because he is one of my best friend .
So I went to him and he started to talk to me . I just interrupted and told him that I will give you a chance but as a best friend not to be your girlfriend . But to be best friends forever. He stood still without anyword ,so I left to my room . Su was also waiting for me in the room . I told her to not to worry about me and I am alright . Su was some how relieved to see me okay . Su and I ate some food she stored for me . And I told her about Alvis and nani. Su felt very happy by seeing me normal.
SOMETIMES THERE ARE SOME STORMY MOMENTS IN OUR LIFE , AT THE SAME TIME WE WILL BE ACCIDENTALLY BLESSED WITH SOME OTHERS WHO WILL BECOME MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANYONE , BECAUSE THEY WILL MAKE TO FORGET ALL THE STORMY MOMENTS IN OUR LIFE , AND GIVE'S US THE BEST MEMORIES .
