Chapter 7: ❗️7

Azrael sat up to rub her head then lied back down, thinking about the stupidity of her actions.

"Young demons such as you three never cease to amaze me" Asmodeus said, walking towards them.

He stopped once he reached his daughter.

"Azrael" he called.

The demoness turned to her side, "what"

"My troublesome hatchling.." he sighed, "your temper certainly resembles mine in my early years.. I had been under the impression that Basileus was exaggerating when he compared us"

The princess sighed at the comment.

"The abilities of you three had gotten undoubtedly unstable in result of your anger.. be that as it may, I am astonished at how stronger you've gotten in such a short amount of time" Beelzebub mentioned, "still, we had to stop you, or else Basileus would have more than a demolished floor to restore"

The girl sat up and noticed their servant standing still while his yellow flames danced around his body.

His eyes were darting around—as he did so, all the destruction they had caused began to slowly repair.

He successfully reversed the damage and restored everything back to its original state without fault.

"Whatever" Azrael grumbled.

She was a little envious at how excelled Basileus was as a powerful demon.

"Ugh.. my body is so sore" Juro moaned a few meters away from her.

Hearing his voice she frowned, the look of malice that was directed towards her minutes ago was still fresh in her mind.

Asmodeus softened his gaze, taking notice of her expression.

"They may be demons, yet underneath they are young boys in the midst of maturing" he told her, "having a clear mind during combat is a difficult skill to become competent in, even you let your emotions dictate your temperament in the end"

"So?" she replied as she stood up, "doesn't mean they weren't being dicks.. it's like they refuse to believe I'm strong.. and I don't want to be looked down on by my best friends"

'Im one of the strongest demons here, I am the child of Asmodeus! Even if I am a girl, they know how skilled I am.. but why did it feel like they suddenly underestimated me?' she thought.

Azrael clenched her jaw and dropped into her shadow again.

This time, she emerged near the throne wall.

She looked up and saw the highest throne—her fathers, and beside it her own.

The thrones were mounted unusually high up because only demons of royal blood could reach them—their powers were far above that of ordinary demons.

Not every creature from hell had long lasting endurance when it came to their own ability. To try and reach the throne would mean to go beyond their limit.

Her father had said it was like a tradition for young ones to see if they were ready to finally sit on their throne.

Those of royal blood were the only ones that could even go near the seats—the material that the thrones were carved from were infused with the souls Asmodeus and many other lords had collected over the millennia.

Normal demons would not be able to withstand the power of millions of malicious souls, being near the thrones would overwhelm their bodies drastically.

Excruciating pain would follow.

The thrones were also the very thing that gave Asmodeus the ability to control the palace's entirety as a whole.

His seat was a few feet below the ceiling; the palace was quite enormous.

Even if a powerful demon had managed to reach the throne, it was paired to her father by blood, and there was only one other being who his throne would tolerate.

Azrael closed her eyes and breathed in.

She jumped high up, her shadow booting her as she jumped into the darkness.

She emerged from the side of her fathers throne and almost fell like she had a dozen times before, but this time she grabbed hold of the armrest and pulled herself right onto it.

Afterwards, she adjusted herself to sit in it properly.

The throne began to emit beautiful black flames as Azrael crossed her legs and leaned back.

Though it was a tad difficult, Azrael reached it with less of a struggle this time—it was clear that her power had indeed increased.

Her father and his loyal servant stood a few meters away from her on the ground, the demoness was amused at how small they looked from down there.

'Lady Azrael, are you alright?' asked Basileus's voice in her mind.

'Does it matter?'

From a distance, she noticed that her two best friends had finally gotten up and were talking with their father.

'Do you want me to make a chocolate milkshake for your sorrows?' the kind pointy-eared demon offered.

Azrael could almost picture his persuasive smile.

'Maybe' she admitted, 'but you can't make any for them, they don't deserve it'

'And I don't want them to know I'm upset..'

'Understood, but as you know I am not able to go there so you must come down'

"Just when I was getting comfy" she pouted.

She jumped off the throne and landed in front of them with a loud boom.

"Don't forget to drizzle A positive on it please" the girl beamed.

"I haven't forgotten," the servant reassured.

He gave a subtle cheeky wink and bowed before walking into a hallway.

"It appears you have gotten stronger once again" her father brought up.

"So it seems"

"It was rather interesting to watch - during the past few years I have noticed you never sit on your throne unless I command you otherwise"

The demoness rubbed her shoulder,

"only because it's too easy getting to mine" she responded, "yours is larger so I have more space to sit.. and you have comfier velvet cushions"

Suddenly, a fire bursted in front of them—Beelzebub appeared, "sorry to intrude" he said, "Asmodeus, we have business to attend to in the consultation room"

Her father's expression stiffened, "right" he spoke, "Azrael, you and the boys may have breakfast, I've already notified Basileus" he told her as he snapped his fingers.

The large empty dining table then re-emerged from black flames.

"Dad.." Azrael called, "is everything.. okay?"

Her golden eyes had a glint of worry as she looked up at him.

Asmodeus smiled gently at the concern of his daughter, "try not to give those two a hard time, I'll be back" he said.

'I hope he'll be okay..'

The two demons then disappeared into a crimson fire.

After, she noticed the boys coming towards the table.

"Great.." Azrael pulled back a chair and sat in it, "now I'm stuck with a flaming KFC bucket and frosty the snowman"

"So," Juro said approaching one of the two seats across from her, "you still maaaad?" he asked with a goofy grin.

'Trying to cheer me up isn't gonna get you out of this one' Azrael thought.

Jun came shortly after and sat down in the other seat.

"Are you just not gonna talk?" he crossed his arms.

"I don't know, do you want me to yell at you?" the demoness snapped.

"Better than holding your feelings inside.."

"It's nothing, okay?" Azrael sighed, "I agreed to it so I shouldn't be getting upset, but it just really seemed like you guys thought I can't be strong or something.. you know I want to live up to my heritage. Plus you both got genuinely mad over a move I did"

"We never said you can't be strong,

you were hiding and then out of no where did that" Juro said, "we were a little mad because of the suddenness"

"We didn't even have any rules for this" Azrael argued, "getting mad is stupid!"

"It's like when we play video games, Az" Jun said, "yeah we'll be cheesed or whatever, but we get over it pretty fast because in the end it means nothing, it's just a game, and this was just a mock battle"

Azrael stood up, "fine, it's okay" she told them, "just don't underestimate me, we all know how strong we became.. any of us could win a mock battle."

With that, she turned and walked into the hallway Basileus had disappeared into.
