Senzaemon left Hiro at the gates of Totsuki, telling him "I brought you here, but you still have to go through the entrance exam like everyone else. If you don't pass, then you'll work for me." Hiro was stunned and looked at Senzaemon before clicking his tongue and walking away.
Senzaemon chuckled and went into the school, he was going to be Hiro's Examiner.
Hiro looked around and called Zerotwo, but didn't get an answer. He frowned and looked at the people around him, he did a double take and blinked. What the fuck!?
There was a young man with brown hair next to him. Hiro said "Um, hello?" the guy looked at him and smiled "Hello!" Hiro said "You're participating in the entrance exams?" The guy chuckled "Isn't everybody?" Hiro laughed dryly and said "Yeah, I guess so..."
The guy laughed and said "I'm Joichiro Saiba, nice to meet you." Hiro blinked and said "Hiro Eien, nice to meet you too." they were called to start and Joichiro smiled "Good luck!" Hiro chuckled and said "Yeah... You too!" Joichiro grinned and left.
Hiro stood there in a daze, he didn't check the year! He assumed it was Soma's years! He scratched his neck in excitement and carried his knife case with him as he went to the room he was told to go to.
He left his Cabinet at the hotel he was staying in.
He walked into the exam room and Senzaemon was sitting there with a smirk, Hiro blinked and said "What?!" Senzaemon chuckled "The main ingredient is fish." Hiro rolled his eyes and put down his case, opening it, revealing his knives.
Senzaemon said "Oho! You didn't use these before!" Hiro said with a scrunched face "Didn't think I'd need 'em." Senzaemon just chuckled and Hiro grabbed a fish from the tank.
He slapped it on the cutting board and grabbed a butcher knife, his expression warped into a grin and he chopped the head off the struggling fish, he flicked the knife and separated the head before stabbing the knife into the cutting board and taking out the flaying knife.
He grabbed the tail and ran the knife across the bones, over and under, perfectly filleting the fish. He threw the head and bone tail into the trash before cleaning the knives and putting them away.
He grabbed his chef's knife and set the fish aside.
The knife was pitch black with a dark brown wooden handle. There was a metal loop around the end and the metal before the blade was a mouth with sharp teeth.
Hiro grabbed a bunch of spices and peppers and grinned chopping everything up and sniffing before grinding them all into powder. He scored the fish and rubbed the spice on the fish while placing a pan on the stove and putting oil. He spiked the oil with the spice mix and dripped a brush in it before glazing the fish meat.
Senzaemon watched with interest as he had never seen this before! Hiro was going with the flow at the moment, trying to make the spiciest thing he had ever made to get back at Senzaemon. He lightly seared the fish and left it on the skin after poking tiny holes in the scales of the fish.
He then cut a bunch of vegetables and put a rack over the skillet before putting the vegetables on top and covering the pan. Then he cleaned everything up and closed his knife case.
He took out a plate and opened the lid, letting out a bunch of steam. He scooped the vegetables and plated them before carefully plating the red fish. He grabbed the plate and brought it to Senzaemon with a smirk before washing the rack, skillet, and lid.
Senzaemon raised a brow and looked at the plate, it was a very strange way to cook fish! The searing was normal but the holes? He had never seen it before. He picked up chopsticks and poked the fish, the chop stick went right through!
Senzaemon was stunned and pulled some of the fish off the skin before noticing that the skin didn't even leave the plate! There wasn't even a bit of fish left on the skin, he asked "That's what the holes were for?" Hiro explained "The holes let the hot oil in and spread under the fish in the thin layer between it's meat and scales, leaving a natural plate for the fish itself. I came up with the idea myself... Just now."
Senzaemon took a bite and chewed before swallowing and closing his eyes. He paused and let out steam from his mouth, feeling like he was riding a fish in an active volcano! His kimono tore a bit and he said "You pass."
Hiro clicked his tongue and grabbed his case before leaving. Senzaemon chuckled, if he wanted to get him back with spice... This wasn't enough! He continued eating all the fish and vegetables and raised a brow, this was pretty good!
Not bad at all!
Unfortunately for Hiro, this was not best case scenario! He wasn't the old man to at least have a red face and ask for milk or something! He scratched his neck in frustration and left.
