Chapter 2: The Hero and His Love - Chapter 2

The two of them have a wonderful day in the market, going from vendor to vendor getting things like ice cream, sweets and prizes. At one vendor The Hero picks out a necklace and buys it but quickly puts it away before his love sees it. Later on in the day The Hero is sitting on a rock in the park, talking to his love, he smiles, a smile that could light up any darkness, its big and goofy and full of love and admiration. She falters for a moment, only a few days ago he was forced to put his sword through his closest friend and yet here he is, smiling like the world is fair and just. She runs to him and buries her face in his chest to avoid him seeing her eyes well up with tears. He recoils a little, unsure what happened or whats going on but then looks down at her and puts his hand on her head. "How?" She asks, "How can you smile like that, after everything thats happened to you, after everything you've been through, how can you still smile so beautifully?" He looks at her and smiles gently. "Its not that i havnt been hurt, or that everything is going alright. Thats not why i smile. Its because i have you. You and everyone else who's supporting me. I cant be sad and depressed if everyone believes in me and helps me now can I?" She glances up, teardrops in the corners of her eyes, he's smiling that big goofy smile again, this time, brighter than any star in the sky. "You help me through anything, you give me the strength to smile like this, thank you." Her heart drops into her stomach as she feels her cheeks starting to redden. She pulls away from him and turns around, wiping the tears away. "Well, then i promise to never leave you. That smile cant ever go away so ill make sure to be with you forever from now on. Ok? You don't have to worry about me ever leaving." He walks up behind her and puts the necklace around her collar, its a silver, thin chain with a small blue gemstone hanging from it, the same color as his armor. The necklace, a valuable item in the kingdom, had a legend surrounding them that if a man were to give it to a woman, she would be protected by the fates as it was a way of showing that she was special to him. "Thank you." He says, "Ill always protect you and treasure those words." She looks shocked at first but then reddens even more but quickly scampers off to a market vendor to try to distract him from noticing. He walks after her and we see her smile faintly and touch the necklace now shining in the evening light, as the camera pans up into the now red sky as the suns sets off in the distance.
