--------------------------------------------

After seeing Maelys' death on Barristan's hand, the crown's army cheered and increased their attacks on the other side. Everyone would remember this moment when a young knight stood against a monster and defeated him in single combat without any fear. From that moment, that young knight would be forever 'Barristan the bold.'.

Not wanting to incur more losses, the other members of the Band of Nine decided to retreat. They saw that there was no chance for them to win this war. The group did not have any ambition to conquer Westeros as they only came here because of Maelys, who wanted Westeros as his kingdom, but he died like that.

Gerald Hightower ordered the army to pursue the enemy to kill as many as possible to cripple this group while he headed to where Barristan killed that monster. The young knight impressed him and managed to kill that dangerous monster in single combat, a thing he could not do. How could Gerald ignore that achievement??? He wanted to recruit the young knight into the Kingsguard since they needed a member after Ser Duncan the Tall died.

"Great work there, Ser Barristan." Said Gerald as he smiled at the young knight, who performed amazingly in this war and deserved this praise. When things were getting hard for him since he needed to raise the army's morale, but with that monster, Maelys, on the leach, he could not achieve that. At the most needed time, Barristan came and presented him with this great chance to turn this defeat into victory.

"I only did what I should do, Ser Gerald." Said Barristan as he looked at the knight in front of him. Barristan was always humble in front of others.

"Do you want to join the Kingsguards, Ser Barristan? You are a great knight, and you deserve it more than anyone else. With this achievement, you can join us anytime." Said Gerald with a smile as he looked at Barristan. He admired this young knight and knew that he was not Barristan's equal if they fought in single combat.

Barristan, who heard Gerald's words, looked at him a little surprised since he did not expect this. Barristan's dream was always to join the Kingsguard and write his name in history. Of course, he would agree to join the Kingsguard when this chance came to his door.

"I will." Said Ser Barristan with passion in his eyes as he looked at Gerald, who smiled after hearing Barristan's answer.

"When we return to King's Landing, you can swear the oath in front of the king." Said Gerald as he turned to supervise the aftermath of the war since the king's hand, Ormund Baratheon, died in this war.

On the other side, Steffon, who lost his father and was still morning his death, woke up from his daze and rage after seeing that monster, Maelys, die on Barristan Selmy's hands. Although he wanted to kill that monster himself, he knew he could not do that.

After the war, he had a long talk with Lord Arryn and Rickard Stark, and the three promised each other to stay friends and try to get closer to each other. As for Tywin, he was with the Lannisters after knighting his friend, Aerys, in this battle. He did not stay with the group, though, since he had to check the Lannister's losses in this battle.

[The third month of year 260 AC]

[In the Great Keep of Storm's End]

The news about the victory had just reached the ears of the people, staying in Storm's End. Unlike the rest of the kingdoms, the atmosphere in Storm's End was quite gloomy since the castle lost its lord in this war as well. Ormund was a great lord whose people loved and respected him a lot. That was the reason why the atmosphere was this gloomy in the castle.

In the Keep, Cassana, who heard the news not long ago, cried a lot because she owed a lot to her father by law, who accepted her into his family and supported her even against his son, Steffon. The news was a direct blow to the woman, who was pregnant, which almost resulted in a miscarriage.

Although a miscarriage did not happen because Cassana took care of herself and the baby all that time, his sorrow led her to give birth after only eight months of pregnancy. Steffon was still on his way home with his men and would need another weak or so to arrive at Storm's End.

Only the maester, Jones, and a few servants were there to help their lady in this matter.

"Please, push harder, my lady. We are almost there." Said Maester Jones as he encouraged Cassana when he saw the boy's head coming out. He was the one who took care of Cassana all this time when Steffon was out because he was the maester.

"Uaaaaah..." Shouted Cassana as she pushed harder. She was afraid that her child would die or born disfigured because of her sorrow in the past two weeks. She had to give it to her all, or her child would face death because of her. She had promised her husband and father by law to take care of herself and the baby in her womb, but she did not.

"Another push, my lady." Said the maester when he saw that the boy was almost out and needed Cassana's final push.

"Aaaaaaaah..." Shouted Cassana giving the final push for the child to come out. After that final push, she got tired and could not even raise her head.

"He is here." Said the maester as he carried the child and started cleaning him after cutting the cord. The problem was that the child was not crying nor breathing.

When Cassana, who was already lying on the bed tired after giving birth, did not hear her child's voice, she almost started to cry because she thought it was her and her actions that caused harm to her son.

"Why is not he crying or making any noise?" Asked Cassana as she could not believe what was happening right now. She could not accept that her son died just like that after she promised her husband and father by law.

"I don't know, my lady." Said the maester as he helped the young boy to breathe by massaging his chest a little. He knew that the boy died the moment he came to this world, though. He was only doing that to decrease Cassana's pain a little.

"Give him to me." Said Cassana as she tried to move when a small movement was already hard for her. She already started crying after seeing the maester's actions, and the tears gathered in her eyes.
