Chapter 7: Right hand
Liam seemed conflicted at first but he eventually began to speak saying, "It happened when my parents were about to leave for a business trip. I heard my father arguing with the hero galactic man." he paused for a minute before continuing, "My dad was a superhero fan so he had a lot of connections within the hero community and my mom being a former hero also helped a lot."
Urek then remembered that Liam's mom was a former hero and she was ranked number twenty-seven at her peak, but she retired right before she got married to Liam's dad.
"I got one of the maids to listen to their conversation since I wanted to know why my dad was arguing with one of my role models. The maid told me that they were talking about the hero's misconduct and something about a breach in contract." Liam paused again and then continued, "When I asked him what was going on he said that galactic man simply encountered a villain and he wanted to help him out. I was amazed at first and I never thought much about it, till I got the news that my parents had been in a plane crash and galactic man was the hero at the scene who saved everyone." As he said this he began tearing up and his voice cracking, "Everyone except my parents."
Urek then understood what was going on as it didn't take a genius to put things together, as although it was a far cry to say that galactic man was the culprit, it wasn't unreasonable to say that he was involved or at least it was enough information to make him a suspect.
However according to what Urek and his family know no investigation whatsoever was conducted and galactic man was even praised for being at the scene on time and rescuing almost everyone. People did find it suspicious but nobody raised any concerns or talk about their suspicions towards the issue, and because of that the case was dismissed and galactic man walked free.
"I know many things don't add up with the story the police gave me. I know that there is more that they are not telling." Liam then clenched his fist as his tears began to flow more freely and aggressively than before, "And I know that that hero had something to do with it."
"What happened when you told the other heroes?" Urek asked, he already knew the answer but he wanted to hear it from Liam's lips. "They said I imagined it, that there was no way galactic man could be involved but that they were going to look into it." Liam began to scratch use his fingernails to attack his cuticles with amazing precision as he continued, "But they did nothing, they acted as if nothing had happened, and just moved on."
Urek saw this and said nothing keeping his poker face on perfectly, and after a while began to speak, "What were you expecting? that they were going to just take your word for it?" "Did you not even consider whether or not galactoc man or whatever he's called would not have people on the inside?" Liam went pale with every sentence because he had long realized how stupid he had been at the time but to have it spelled out in his face was not great.
"Let me ask you something." Urek said as he silently wished for a blessing where Liam would be unable to lie to him even if he wanted to, "Do you hate heroes?" without hesitation Liam replied with a "Yes!" and with this Urek smiled internally.
'He would be perfect' Urek thought to himself, for the past few months Urek had been seeking a right-hand man for himself that he would groom for the future. He wanted not only someone he could trust with many important things, but someone who truly despised heroes and wasn't a complete villain. This was because Urek planned on taking a neutral approach to the hero-villain thing.
Sometimes he will act as a villain and other times as a hero. At the end of the day, they all meant the same thing to him. They were all toys for his entertainment, or so he believed. Urek truly wasn't any different from a godlike existence in this world or in any really. whatever He 'wished' for was instantly granted to him, so anything he did or worked for was for his amusement.
Urek planned on grooming Liam to be that right-hand man of his and for that, he needed Liam to not be against getting his hands very dirty, and considering Liam was family there were endless possibilities for him.
"hey listen," Urek said calmly as he continued "I get that the shit that happened to you wasn't the best but you know simply bearing it yourself isn't going to help anybody. If you want I could help you, get your revenge that is" Urek said as Liam looked at him before saying, "And why would you do that?" to this Urek smiled before replying, "Because we're family, and that's what family's all about."
Urek knew what kind of person Liam was, he has many experiences with many different kinds of people during his past life so he eventually developed the ability to accurately tell what kind of person an individual was just from listening to them speak for a while and Urek knew that Liam was the kind of person who deep down had the potential to be scheming and mischievous but they were loyal to the teeth.
Urek also knew that based on Liam's current situation all he needed to give his loyalty to a person was love, care, and trust, Urek expected that the police officers who brought Liam here made up a story for the convenience of galactic man, and so his parents never knew of what exactly had happened, so they had no idea about where to start when taking care of Liam since he always hid his personality behind his smile.
Liam was shocked by Urek because not only did he believe him but he also wanted to help him, one had to understand that regardless of what he's been through Liam was still a child and like any child he is quit easily swayed especially when the person who speaks is someone he recognizes as family.
Urek smiled at this but not because of Liam's reaction but because right beside Liam he could see a status menu showing many things but what he focused on was the loyalty bar within this menu and he saw was, loyalty bar 87% full.
A/N: sry it's late again I apologize as it's barely a thousand words long but I hoped you enjoy it and yes Liam will become MC's, right-hand man. honestly, I think it would be best to picture a smiling Liam as a less creepy and longer-haired version of a smiling Ichimaru Gin.
