Chapter 48: Another Attack

TAMOTSU looked at Yoshiko and nod before leaning down to Dandy. "Your Grace, I need to take you to Lord Kahaku first so we could go where the disturbance came from."

"But…"

"Please, Your Grace," Pleaded Yoshiko who kneeled before Dandy. "we need to take care of your safety first. We don't know if we could protect you properly. And kids," Yoshiko looked at Maeko and Sora. "We will stop our play for today. I would take you home for now."

Dandy held Sora's hand as she doesn't want to let go. Tamotsu smiled at the small deity and held both their hands.

"Yoshiko will take good care of them. You will keep them safe, right?"

Yoshiko smiled and nodded at Dandy. Tamotsu doesn't know if that assured Dandy and he was ready to reassure her more when the kid Sora spoke.

"Don't worry. We won't make this hard for Yoshiko, right Maeko?" Sora glanced at Maeko as the boy held Dandy's hand tighter. "I promise that we will follow Yoshiko's instructions and go home. So, we should pack things up today. We will play when everything is okay, okay? We will come back and play some more, okay?"

When Sora smiled and lightly patted Dandy's head, the deity finally smiled and agreed.

Tamotsu secretly smiled to himself. {Is this what they call when they say 'Itai doushin'? Two bodies, same heart. They may not know it, but they were doing it unconsciously.}

"Your Grace," Tamotsu called at her again.

Dandy looked at him and finally let go of Sora's hand. She accepted Tamotsu's extended hand and held onto it. They were ready to fly to where Lord Kahaku was when Dandy stopped Sora from walking away.

"You'd come back, right?"

Sora nodded and Tamotsu saw how Sora held Dandy's hand before he let go of it and ran to where Yoshiko and Maeko were waiting. Tamotsu nodded at Yoshiko and jumped.

They needed to keep them safe, away from the forest before investigating what was happening. They knew it will be too dangerous for Dandy as she was still a young deity and still training at that.

What was happening isn't a laughing matter. For days they have been finding animals of different sizes and kinds were found dead all around the forest. And as the days go by, it came closer and closer to where Dandy's flowerbed is.

After the attack of those corrupted Yokai, there was no progress or any infiltration happened—not, until this moment.

Tamotsu landed near the waterfalls where Lord Kahaku was already waiting. His beautiful face was dark and grave. A powerful force was emitting from Kahaku as if warding off any evil plot.

"Lord Kahaku!" dandy ran to Kahaku and hug his legs as he put her down.

"Dandy, I request for you to stay here inside the waterfalls. No matter what happens, do not leave its premises. No one could ever come in so you don't have to worry if anyone appears. Do you understand?"

Dandy nodded. Tamotsu was relieved that the Deity didn't ask any questions. Is it thanks to that boy Sora?

"Tamotsu, " Kahaku called his attention.

"My Lord," he bowed and gave his report. "we have yet to confirm where the exact location of the disturbance but the direction it came from was south to the southwest from where Our Lady's flowerbed is."

"I see. Then we will start from there," Kahaku replied. "Is Yoshiko already there."

"No, My Lord. He had taken the two kids out of the forest. But he knows what to do when he comes back.."

Kahaku just nodded. "I hope this is connected to what was happening around these days. Reveal itself so we could end it as soon as possible. The festival is just around the corner. The town will be full of tourists for the nearing festival and it will be bad if that youkai or miasma would stay."

Tamotsu could only agree.

He looked at Dandy and silently hope that there are fewer casualties this time. The last time Dandy healed and tried to revive some of the living creatures in the forest, she was crying her eyes out. Tamotsu knew that empath is not part of her powers but it was just her pure heart bleeding for the beings.

{And that makes this deity wonderful. A big heart in a small body. A heart that most of the celestial beings neglect.}

DANDY silently waited inside the waterfall chamber of Kahaku. It may look like a simple waterfall cave for mortal's eyes but it was different from hers.

The ripples the waterfall made as the light falls onto it made the chamber looked like it was under the water. The different shade of blue was glistening. Stones of sapphire adorned the pristine walls. The chamber looks cold but it wasn't. Instead, the cooling color of blue made her comfortable.

There wasn't much thing inside just a big bed with a blue furry blanket over it. A set of small table and chair that were all made by stones. A combination of white and blue blankets was over it, too.

It was cozy and she would surely appreciate all of those beauty but Dandy's mind was in chaos. Thinking about what had happened. The darkness of the sun. The fright of the birds. Tress and plants that are full of wounds. Creatures that are wounded. She was thinking if that was connected to those she healed. Dandy sighed as she looked at her hands.

Those beings. They were innocent. It made her want to ask those who hurt that what good it would be to them if they would hurt those little animals.

"Why does this have to happen? Why do I have to be so weak?"

Tears fell when she thought of wanting to help but all she could do was heal their wounds and try to revive them—that most of them were a failure. Reviving a body of an animal that was corrupted by dark miasma was hard. Tainted. Dark. It can no longer hold its pure soul again.

{If only I was stronger…}

"Kawa! Kawa are you—ah! What's this? Why—Deity? What are you doing inside Kahaku's chamber?"

Dandy's attention went to the entrance of the waterfall chamber. She focused her eyes on someone who ere standing by it as the sun made a silhouette out of his outline and cannot really see his face.

"Little Deity, can't you recognize me? Lord Susanoo. You have already met once, remember? Why are you alone in there? And can't I come in?"

And before could Dandy answer, Susanoo pounded the entrance as hard as he can.

"Let me in, deity! Let me in now!" Susanoo's voice thundered as his hands still pounding on the door.

Fear engulfed Dandy's heart and run further inside the chamber and hid at the other side of the bed. Hands on her ears as to block Susanoo's voice.

{Lord Kahaku, help!}
