Chapter 4: I'm In!

"Wow, you must be kidding me!" is what Li Meilin thought upon hearing Mr. Lim.

What a unique way to hire his son's servant, huh?

Then Li Meilin thought that she must be dreaming… but nope, she tried pinching her cheeks so hard, it hurts like hell.

Yup, this is real indeed.

"Y-you want to hire me?" she repeated, just so to be clear.

"Yes, that is correct."

"But why?"

He smiled once again, a proud-looking grin.

"That is because I just heard what you, Li Meilin, did to my son back in school, and I say I'm impressed the moment I heard about it. No one in your school has dared yet to stand up against my son…"

Then he looks at Li Meilin for a brief moment before continuing.

"And now, here you are, a brave, young soul who is definitely suited for this kind of job that I am offering to you."

By listening to him, Li Meilin is now beginning to picture herself being stressed out most of the time because of that atrocious jerk, being yelled at by him, or worse, being hit by him. She can't definitely risk her life doing this kind of job for the sake of him.

She then decides that her life must come first than anything else in this world.

"And in case you are thinking about it, the salary that you will get would be worth 5,000 yuan a month. Plus, as his personal maid, you are required to stay here in the house for free. You will also have daily free food plus a free maid's uniform. So, what do you say?"

Mr. Lim started extending his hand towards her. Li Meilin's eyes went into circles after hearing his offer. That would be more than enough for her to save up for college! And did he just say free food?! And a free house to stay in?! Li Meilin wouldn't have to pay for those anymore!

"Do we have a deal?"

Li Meilin let out a wide, toothy grin before reaching for his hand. By all means…. money and other basic necessities come first before anything else, especially if you are a poor student who supports herself for her studies

"Deal!"

"Great! Then I will let you pick up your things first from your house and transfer it all right here to the new room that I had prepared just for you. You will be accompanied by the guys from earlier using the van to get your things."

Just thinking about what just happened earlier makes her sick. But Li Meilin tried to set it aside for the money that she will be getting from this job.

"Okay, sir!"

Li Meilin smiled at Mr. Lim for the last time before she went for the door. But as soon as she twitched the doorknob, the other person from the other side opened it, almost shoving the girl to the side if she hasn't held on to the knob just now.

"You want to see me?"

Li Meilin felt the immediate shivers run down her spine the moment she hears that cold, toneless voice of the guy that is the main reason why she's here in the first place, yet she did not dare to move a muscle after he entered just now.

Lim Xian...

"Ah. yes. I've called you here because I want you to meet your newest personal maid,"

Li Meilin was quite amazed at how casual his father sounded even if his son is the exact opposite of it.

And that's her cue to turn around to look at his face devoid of any emotions that are so scary to look at. Li Meilin didn't miss the chance to see him looking at her from head to toe, like she is some kind of meat that he is thoroughly checking out.

"Nope. Send her away. I don't want some ugly woman to be my personal maid."

Li Meilin could now feel her cheeks burning upon hearing that and thought to herself, "Can you believe this guy? A girl as cute as I am is being called ugly?"

"Excuse me? Who are you calling ugly?" she immediately retorted.

"Obviously, it's you," the bastard answered nonchalantly.

The heat that burns her cheeks right now doubled when he said that. Li Meilin just assumed that maybe he has other cheap standards for beauty that is why he's been calling her ugly at the moment.

"Your body is so thin, you look like you'll be blown by the wind anytime. Your eyebrows are so thick, your lips are a bit chappy. Basically, you are so plain to look at."

Li Meilin could imagine each of his words fictitiously stabbing right in her chest one by one as he continued pointing out her flaws.

"But I just hired her, and there is nothing else that you can do about it," Mr. Lim comes to her rescue which she is so thankful for.

Li Meilin then hears him click his tongue before turning his back on him.

"Such a stupid father I have."

Her hearing what he said just made her stunned and angry at the same time. He doesn't know what it's like to not have a father by your side, and yet here he is... taking him for granted and calling him names like he is more superior than his father.

Li Meilin surely can't tolerate such ugly behavior in front of her!

She didn't think, she just picked up whatever was the first thing that she saw from Mr. Lim's desk, which she later realized to be a pocket-sized book, and threw it straight to his head.

Three points for Meilin!

"What a jerk you truly are!" she screamed at the top of her lungs, making him spin around for the second time around.

"What the hell did you just call me?" Lim Xian demanded.

"I said you're a jerk!" she repeated.

"You didn't know what it feels like not to have a father at your side, and you're insulting him like that! If it's possible, I would really like to switch places with you, since you are only taking your father for granted! You're a stupid person for not realizing how blessed you are!"

Before Li Meilin could even stop herself from ranting nonsense, she realized that she had just thrown away her opportunity to have a 5,000 yuan monthly salary.

'Oh god, I am so screwed.'

Lim Xian's face begins to get even scarier by the time Li Meilin dares herself to look up to him. His jet-black eyes burn with rage as he meets her gaze.

"And what right do you have to speak to me that way, huh?" he bellowed, making her flinch all of a sudden. "You are fired!"

"Your father hired me!" Li Meilin countered, not even knowing where did she find the courage to speak that way. "He is the only one that could fire me as well."

The girl sneaked a glance at Mr. Lim and he somehow looked pleased with the way she countered his son.

"Whatever, I'm out of here!"

Lim Xian gave her and his father a deadly stare before walking out of the room and closing the door behind him as hard as he could. That brought silence into the room for at least about a minute before Mr. Lim spoke up.

"That was impressive!" he stated, looking pleased rather than being pissed at Li Meilin for speaking to his son rudely.

"I will definitely hire you to be his personal maid, that is if you are still up to the challenge after that encounter with him."

Looking at her jobless situation now, Li Meilin really doesn't have a choice but to accept it anyway.

Li Meilin smiled at the man and said, "I'm in!"
