Chapter 47: Derek’s Plan
Derek was furious. He was angry. He felt as if Ethan was making fun of him. He felt that Ethan wanted to humiliate him in public. This is why he was intentionally dodging his attacks while making all his punch hit nothing but air.
"You damn fucking bastard!" ,Derek was an impulsive person. Since his childhood, everything he desired was brought in front of him as soon as possible. So he never experienced the meaning for word "patience" in his lifetime.
But he was not a clueless troublemaker. At least, he isn't towards the likes of Young Master Robin. He knew his limits. He would never do something that might lead to his grandfather losing his job. Because he was repeatedly thought by his grandfather that once he lost his job due to any reason, then all the people who suffered unjust because of Derek or him will get the chance to payback.
This is the reason why Derek never messed up with the likes of Young Master Robin. He always liked to use his grandfather's political power and cause trouble to only those people whom he or his grandfather could handle with no problem. This is also the reason why he kept quiet during the entire period when Young Master Robin was purchasing the Grade-1 fruits.
And Derek felt that Ethan was definitely one of those people with no background. If he had any kind of background then he wouldn't have set up such a small stall to begin with.
Cultivators always had their pride. They wouldn't steep so low to set up such a small stall. Even a small cultivator with no background will try to decorate their stall and make it look as grand as possible. This is one of the business tactics everyone follows even in this cultivation world.
And this Ethan didn't set up any grand looking Stall. In fact, his stall was even less than ordinary looking. He was sure that his opponent definitely have no background at all. There is no way a person with background would set up such a small and worthless stall.
As for where he got those Grade-1 fruits, he felt that Ethan got lucky. That is all there is. This is exactly what ran through the Derek's mind. So he immediately started to fight Ethan and did his best to bully him. He wanted to use Ethan as an example to show his newly achieved authority to all the citizens.
He wanted to make them realize that he is no longer that Derek from the past. He is now one of those people with high authority in the city just like Young Master Robin. He even had an idea for making all these people to address him Young Master from now on.
He had many ideas to make his life as Royal and rich as possible. They wanted the people to respect and fear him just like how they respect the likes of Young Master Robin.
And in order to stamp his authority, he was in a need to make something big. And he felt that this Ethan is the right candidate to use as his stepping stone. He wanted to cripple his cultivation and make people realize an important fact.
'Even if I crippled anyone, the Punishment Department will never do anything to me.'
He wanted to send this message to everyone. This message was more than enough to make the people realize his authority. After all, for a cultivator, getting their cultivation crippled is 100 times worse experience than dying a dog's death. So they will know what they should do from the moment he crippled Ethan.
As for Young Master Robin? In his eyes, Young Master Robin would not interfere to support a person whom he just met. And Ethan even sold those fruits for higher price. So in his eyes, Ethan will never receive any kind of support from Young Master Robin.
Even if he received, then so what? It is true that Young Master Robin is the son of the Deputy Patriarch of the Branch Union. It is true that his grandfather is nothing in front of Young Master Robin's father.
But the entire Punishment Department is in his grandfather's hands. As the head of the Punishment Department, his grandfather's final report holds the highest value. Even the Deputy Patriarch needs to back down in front of his grandfather's report.
By doing this, he might antagonize the Deputy Patriarch. But in the union, there are three Deputy Patriarchs. These three people always compete for the post of next Patriarch. All he needs to do is to go under the shelter of any of these other two Deputy Patriarch and support them. At that time, they will be in the safe zone.
But in order for this plan to succeed, Derek just not only needs to cripple Ethan, but he needs to do it as quickly and as swiftly as possible. So he immediately rushed to wards Ethan with his strongest and most dangerous skill.
But all Ethan doing is nothing but to dodge his attacks. He is not even trying to put up a fight against him. What exactly this annoying person is trying to do. Derek has no idea. All he felt is that his opponent is trying to make him look like a complete loser in front of everyone. And this idea hit his soar spot.
Derek shouted angrily and rushed towards Ethan and started a barrage of punches. He easily lost his patience and he tried to hit his opponent wherever he could. He didn't care where he is hitting, he felt that Ethan was humiliating him. So out to impulse, he tried to just land his punch on Ethan at least once.
Ethan smiled and felt that this is going to be extremely easier than he imagined. So all he did is to use his upgraded Stamina and Agility to happily dodge these barrage of punches.
Five minutes passed in no time. The people were looking at the fight between Ethan and Derek with dumbstruck faces. In these five minutes, Derek tried to punch Ethan wherever he can. As for Ethan, all he did is to dodge them. People were stunned to see the flexibility in his body.
Derek was punching him with all his force and might. And yet, Ethan dodged all the punches without taking even a single hit.
It would have looked great if Ethan put up a great fight and thought this annoying and patronizing bastard a lesson. But all he doing is to dodge without even touching his opponent. Even though Ethan found many openings in Derek's movements, he didn't take advantage of it. In fact, since the beginning of the fight, he didn't even take his hands from his pocket.
The spectators were confused. All of them had only this kind of thoughts running through their mind which confused them even further.
What exactly is this Ethan trying to accomplish by only dodging the attacks from this bastard Derek?
