Chapter 10: NEW KNOWLEDGE
"AAAHHHH!"
The girl suddenly shouted when someone pierced a knife through, in the chest. Its blood gushed out the unknown man pulled out the knife. The woman's body fell to the floor, lying down unconsciously.
Adrianne just shook her head and then ate a chocolate chip cookie in her hands. She wondered, why do the people in this world didn't know how to think? It seemed like all are dumb in terms of mental capacity.
They only act according to what they feel. They didn't know how to think smartly. To know that there were a lot more crucial and essential steps than just letting your emotions eat you.
"Abigail, are you okay here alone?" Nanny Linda asked as she entered the room with the orange juice Abigail asked for, earlier.
"Yes, Nanny." She squealed while her eyes remained off the TV. The movie that she was watching was about to end already. Hmm, she was quite disappointed because almost no one survived among the people who entered the haunted house, as what they call it.
Are they that quick and easy to kill? She honestly didn't like to see too much blood in one's body. It's just that Adrianne doesn't like the smell of it. That is why she prefers to use poison. It's easier and more convenient.
But it was also not bad if Adrianne would apply to others what she had learned in the show. She smiled. Especially if she could use it on the people who have wronged her.
Although vampires in her kingdom are strong, they couldn't really compete with her especially once her previous power got back. Adrianne can control the mind of the person in front of her. That was just one out of more powers she had.
"Abigail, what you're watching is not for kids." Nanny Linda scolded Abigail.
"Sweetie, you're still young. I recall in my memories, you used to be so scared to watch things like this. What did you eat and suddenly you were fond of watching horror films?
But Sweetie, I would leave you here first. Nanny was busy, Jasmine left without letting me know last night. So, I was the one who needed to finish the unfinished jobs she left behind while your daddy was still looking for her replacement.
Remember, when you are hungry just call me. I'm just in the laundry area, doing the laundry. Don't you ever leave the house, is that clear, Abigail? " Nanny Linda instructed her before the old woman closed the door.
Adrianne's lip quirked into an arch. How will Jasmine tell you that when she's already dead?
Abigail's plan did not include killing Jasmine. She didn't know that Eva would drink the juice she had prepared for the morning. But there was nothing she could do anymore, it already happened to the woman and she had no power to go back in time.
Last night while she was on the roof of their house, under the full moon. She saw Eva pulling out the woman's body towards the garage. A man came moments after to help her. With Abigail's memory intact with her, Adrianne was familiar with the guy. It was Eva's brother Erick. Adrianne knew some information about the guy, based on Abigail's memory. Her daddy and Erick were not that close, they rarely see each other. But the man is just as evil as her sister.
Erick was the one who removed the corpse from the subdivision where they were living, using his car.
Eva, that woman could really impress Adrianne with her ability to act as if nothing had happened the other night. This morning, the woman happily left with Mike, her husband to go to the hospital. They have an appointment in an OB-GYN clinic, not that far away from their house.
If Adrianne just hadn't seen what happened last night then she would also possibly believe that the woman is normal, and doesn't have any problems at all.
Adrianne shrugged her shoulders, it was already up to the woman on how she will clean her own mess. She is not to blame for, for what happened. It's not her fault that Eva killed Jasmine.
After the show she was watching, she switched the TV channel for a moment. Finding another film to watch. She was suddenly startled to hear a lively song, in a language unfamiliar to her. It was her first time hearing it.
An idea flashed through Adrianne's mind. This world of people was truly huge, to begin with. And no matter how far apart the countries and the continents are, there are technologies that could connect them to each other.
In her past world, it often takes a few hours of walking just to get to another place. If they wanted to go to another kingdom, it would take a few more days.
There are carriages that can accommodate them in the travel, but not all can afford such treatment. Only a few can, and it's already the richest or the high-ranking officials in their kingdom.
Adrianne never left their kingdom, so she doesn't know much about their neighboring kingdoms other than what was written in the book. Her whole life is confined only to the kingdom of Quirenne. That was the only place she really knew.
She was forced to rule their kingdom at such a young age, when her mother and father died due to an unfortunate event. By then, she started to read more books, to gain more knowledge about her surroundings.
She quickly found a book about poisons. At a young age she started to wonder how it works. She was interested in those things, and later on she started to study it without anyone knowing.
She switched the channel to the History Channel to further expand her knowledge about the world she's in today. She took the tablet out of her bed and used it to look up, for words that were not familiar with her.
An hour later, Adrianne discovered something insane. That there was a creature called aliens that was living on another planet! And she questioned herself, how big is this world really?
