Chapter 2: Chapter 2:Still Matters

After going to my weekly session, I decided to go to the nearest coffee shop in my apartment. I really appreciate the vibes here, it's like I'm in Eden . Flowers are blooming, colors of the trees are calming and the fish in the pond is very relaxing. This is my favorite spot. I open my laptop and I started typing my manuscript when Cindy arrived. She's the owner of this shop, she's kind of my friend now. I've been wasting my time here for almost three years so we know each other.

"Just got home from your weekly session?"

she asks and she sits in front of me. She's wearing a pink see through dress and a flat black shoes, her hair goes with the wind as she move. She's like an angel sent from above.

"Yup. I'm kinda doing my book now."

I said as I type on my laptop. I stopped as I remember that I'm not able to eat lunch. Cindy gets what I feel so she call one of her waiters and she ordered something. The man nod and turn his back.

"Thanks."

"Still not eating lunch huh? are you really trying to kill yourself now? anyway, you're making book about your story? for what? does it still matters? you should've moved on!"

she exclaimed. I know no one can understand what I feel. I can't even understand myself anymore. I stop typing and close my laptop.

"I know what you're trying to say, I know what you mean. It's just that I'm still hoping that someday, if he's still out there, if he's still even alive,...."

I said while watching her waiters to arrive.

"That maybe he's able to read your book? what if he doesn't even know you anymore?"

she ask that makes me think. Yeah, she's right. I don't even know what really happened to him.

"Did you tell to Dr. Salvador? you finally spoke up? maybe you can share it with me though?"

I know I can't stop her from asking, she's more persistent than Dr. Salvador. I told her what I shared with my doctor and tried to avoid her questions but she's just gonna slap me if I don't talk.

"Tell me? She likes someone else that time?"

she asks. And she's right.

-----------------------

"What makes you busy these days?"

my friend Dae aks as we sit down.

"Where do you want to enroll for High school?"

"Maybe just in our town, you?"

I ask her. We're going to graduate in Elementary next month so we're really thinking now. We're just completing our requirements.

"Let's go together!"

she's full of excitement. I just transferred here almost four months ago. She's my new found friend and she's really clingy.

"Sure, anyway, I want to invite you to our church this coming Saturday night?"

I ask her and she open her bag to get her written projects.

"Why? is there an event? I've been attending there but I just stopped. Not my thing you know. "she murmurs.

"There's no event , it's just their weekly practice. I just wanted to invite you to watch."

I said and I close my note book because our class adviser just arrived.

"Okay then. But I don't know if my parents will allow me, can you pick me up?"

she ask, I just nod and focus my attention to our teacher.

Saturday night came and my parents are gone to church, so I decided to come to Dae's place to pick her up. I ask her parents permission and they agree because our pastor is their parent's relatives.

Tonight, everything changes. I don't know why but there's a part of me that wanted to join their practice, I'm so nervous to see him. To see James. Gosh. My intention is very wrong again.

"You have a crush on him, don't you?"

I was startles as she asked me.that and pointed James through her lips. She really knows everything.

"Anyway, who's that guy wearing white shirt with a black cap?"

"He's Jay-ar. He is the fifth child of the Castro's. Why? you like him?"

I ask too and we just both laugh at each other. This is why get a long so much.

Weeks passed by, somehow, were getting along with the children of Castro. We became closer and closer each week. We are some what a small band. I didn't talk to James that much, I thinks it's a little bit awkward for me.

"Elisha. Can I get your phone number so I can have a contact here Incase that we can't come over?"

Mrs. Castro said before each of us leave the church one Sunday.

"Oh sure. Here it is."

then a gave her my phone number. I smiled at her then we leave.

I'm too young, I know, but I think I'm really falling for him more than I can think of. He started talking to me but I make a distance between us as much as possible. I don't want to fall harder then no one will catch me.

"Who's this?"

I ask when I got a call from unknown number.

"it's me, James."

he answered. My heart begins to raise. Damn.

"Oh, how did you get my number? W-What can I do for you?"

I'm starting to startle. I'm too obvious!

"Are you okay? am I bothering you?"

he asked. This is so embarrassing! I gather myself and try to talk normal.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Why did you call?"

I ask and I breathe heavily to control my nervousness.

"I'm just calling to ask you a favor to tell to our leaders that we cannot come this week. My uncle is asking us a favor so we can't go. By the way, I got your number from Mrs. Castro."

he explain.

"Oh that's explain it. Okay then. What else can I do for you?"

"I'm okay now, thanks. Thank you for your time. Let's have a jam when we got back."

he said and he tell me his goodbye. I turned off my phone. Its bad that I can't see him this week, but at least I have his number now! It feels like I have butterflies in my stomach!
