Chapter 2: 2.
Amara POV
Boss called a short meeting before our first day of school to discuss what happen on our last mission.
He was kind enough to give us some time to heal and relieve stress before planning our next move.
Griffin and I arrived at Karter's house to pick him up and drove off in the direction of Leena's. She let me borrow her car for this.
"Don't you think it's weird how Bad Blood didn't come after their truck? What if it has a tracker, which mean Kora's really brought it to the hq." Kater continues ranting. He's been at it since this morning.
"You're probably right, but right now I'm glad to be alive." I answered.
Walking in the house to our meeting room I realize everyone was waiting for us, so we took our seats and Boss didn't hesitate and started questioning Kora.
"So since you were the only one awake, tell me what happened to my merchandise." He ordered sternly.
Kora looks down and began.
"It was a mess, there was bullets flying everywhere. Somewhere somehow the van tipped over, and Tyson struck a deal with me, our lives for the merchandise. The choice was clear so I took the deal. No use in having the merchandise with no gang." she said trying to sound confident under his menacing stare.
Kora POV
The last time someone took an offer that big without him knowing or without his permission. Boss got furious and killed them as they failed to follow the orders.
He has no time for incompetence and won't hesitate to kill off anyone who shows the slightest in that area.
I didn't want that, but I wasn't going to lie to him as well. That's like signing my death wish, plus he would've found out anyway so why lie and give him another reason to kill me.
"Okay, you're all dismissed except Kora and Leena. I need a word with these two."
Everyone left leaving the three of us there.
"Listen and listen good. Burn the truck far away and make sure it burns to a crisp. We don't need any unnecessary drama from those ingrates. Understood?"
"Yes sir."
"Good, now Leena sweetheart have a good day." he says in his sweet voice giving her a kiss on the forehead.
"There's one more thing." I said quietly as the door opened.
"Can we go no-" Vee interrupts as they all enter.
~Flash back~
I got a message on my phone as everyone laughs. It's King.
King: I must say your sniper skills are getting better and color me impressed.
Kora: Wow thanks hey, but you already knew that didn't you. Stalking me I see ;)
King: Not really, my crew heard y'all got what we need and we plan on getting it.
Kora: Oh really now? Well best of luck babes, you're dealing with the best.
BOOM.
King: Well the best is going to meet its match ;)
"We all heard that right?" I hear Griffin asks.
"I'm going up hand me my gun."I ordered
~End of Flash Back~
"Okay well uhm Boss, I kinda knew they were coming. King, one of their members texted me while we were on our way back and next thing I knew I heard an explosion." I explained with my head down in shame.
"Are you fucking serious Kora!?" Lee yells in anger. "What the hell we could've died and why didn't you say anything?" she asks seething.
"There wasn't enough time! They were already there!" she yells back.
"Calm down. This isn't going to solve anything right now, we need to move forward. Even though what she did was really stupid, we have to stay focused. Maybe giving her a partner Boss?" Amara suggests.
"That's a good idea, I'll take it into consideration. Kora you really screwed up so you're going to be on close supervision. You need to run anything through one of them before doing anything. Am I clear?" Boss says to which Kora nods her head.
"Careful Boss your favoritism is showing." Karter jabs at him.
"It's a bullshit punishment and you know it." Griffin says.
"You see this is exactly what they want, for us to fight and be divided so they can conquer us!" I shouted. Everyone froze and looked at me.
"That's a lie and you know it. You just don't want to get an actual punishment for your crap life choices." Griffin shoots at her.
"Let's just get going, we have practice today." Lee says while heading out.
Griffin just rolls her eyes as Karter and Amara follow her out to her car.
Lee and I get in her car, with the others.
"Just say it." I say breaking the awkward silence.
"Kora are you serious? We almost died and for what? That was so dumb, honestly." Lee says sighing.
"I know. " I tell her.
"If you know how could you let that happen, my life, our lives aren't tradeable."
-at school-
Vega POV
We're all in our sports uniform and waiting for the sports venues to be announced.
"Good day to you all, there has been some alterations done this year, as you all may have heard West Eagles High's sport field is under maintenance. So we have been kind enough to share our field with them." the coach announced over the loud speaker.
"Really, wow." I hear Kora scoff while looking at her phone.
"What now?" Amara asks.
"I-i forgot my uhm, my pads yeah. And I kinda need to change, I'll be right back." she says and scurries off into the school's direction.
She's obviously lying, she's never been good at that.
"Griffin you-" I start but she cuts me off.
"Nah, don't drag me into whatever she's doing take Amara." she says and Amara and I head in Kora's direction.
We were initially heading for the lockeroom but voices in a classroom stopped us in our tracks.
"We're done, we can't talk anymore. You guys almost killed my friends!" Kora yelled into the phone.
So much for being discrete.
"Is this about the accident? Because I swear I wasn't there. I just heard them talking about taking it and then coming right back. I didn't know they hurt your friends." said a manly voice on the other end of the phone, I immediately knew she was talking to King.
"It doesn't matter. You bring even more trouble than I do and my friends lives aren't going to pay for it." Kora says hanging up without giving him a chance to explain.
Kora POV
I knew that if I have him a chance to explain I wouldn't have ended that call. I can't do that to my friends.
I got out of the stall and went over to the sink and look and my tear stained face before washing them away.
When I went to dry my hands, I saw them standing by the door.
"Were you guys listening?" I asked getting agitated.
"It's not like you were being quiet either, we knew you were lying so we came to check on you." I told her.
"You're on strict supervision remember?" Amara reminds her.
"Yeah yeah, let's just go alright?" she asks sighing.
"Yeah let's go."
Griffin POV
"So is this how you guys greet your friends you haven't seen in forever, taking your damn time?" Aria jokily questioned and hugged each of us.
I've told her countless times that I don't do hugs but she still manages to find her way to give me one. I see Lee chuckling in front of me, cause she knows how I hate affection.
"Yeah yeah. How're you guys and how was break?" I say as I break myself from the hug.
"We're fine and break was really good, we just really missed you guys." Erin says.
Aria and Erin spent the break together on the holiday trip we all planned but unfortunately we had missions over the break so we had to cancel on them.
"Cool and who's that, I haven't seen him before?" Amara asks.
We turn our attention to who she's talking about.
"Oh, that's Jason, he came last year and he's in Griff and I's business class." Aria tells them.
"He's fine." Kora says eyeing him.
"Calm down thirsty. You're under strict supervision, none of this boy bullshit." I tell her.
"Yeah I know okay." she says sassily towards me.
"Just checking." I say smugly.
"Anyways, where were you guys? You took forever to get here." Lee asked.
"We overheard in the phone with King. She finally broke it off with him." Vega says proudly.
"Good, maybe this will get you in everyone else's good graces." Lee chuckled with us joining.
The whistle blows and we go to our respective places. I head to football, Karter boxing, Lee lacrosse, Kora tennis, Vee volleyball, Erin hockey and the rest are cheerleaders, surprisingly.
