Chapter 14: Struggle For Trost (1)
(Sorry about the earlier deleted chapter, I normally do my chapters on google docs before copying them over. The quotation marks for some reason vanished and became words.)
A titan slowly fell to the ground as a figure flashed past his nape, followed by the sound of cutting of flesh.
SPLAT
The person was none other than Eren. He was promoted to a small team leader for his heroics in slaying the aberrant horde.
Commander Erwin had been dispatching small scouts teams to different areas to conduct mapping of the areas near the retake route for Shiganshina.
He would take no chances as failure would be simply too costly.
"Eren! I'm done on my side" Jill echoed and waved.
"How about your side Mikasa?"
"I'm done as well Eren. No titans in the vicinity". She responded.
"Alright! Now let's just wait for Nick and Victoria's report to return ,and we can return to Trost." Eren clapped his hands as he admired the vast open fields before him.
There was something just about going away and spending time surrounded by nature, far away from the hustles of the town and noise there. Sure it was in titan territory, but nonetheless, it was quite beautiful to behold.
This was the 4th Mapping Mission he was carrying out already. They haven't encountered any real difficulty so far, all the titans they encountered were normal ones by themselves. Taking them out was easy for him or Mikasa.
As long as the titan was alone and not a deviant, Eren could easily now defeat them.
"Just what is taking them so long…. Eh?" Eren remarked impatiently as he noticed the ruffling of trees and birds flying away from a particular spot.
"RAWRRRR"
A loud noise could be heard in the trees off to a distance.
As Eren looked over his shoulder in the direction of the noise. He could barely make out the silhouettes of two figures galloping towards him. Behind them was a titan.
"Jill, Mikasa, draw your blades NOW! " Eren commanded as he quickly did so and rode off in the direction of the approaching titan.
It was clear that this titan was a deviant. If it was a normal one, Nick and Victoria's horse would have easily outrun it.
This was going to be his 2nd time fighting one since the aberrant horde months ago.
"This one's a deviant. Don't lose your focus!" Eren remarked to Jill and Mikasa who were beside him.
"Yeah… its movements are weird. Be careful Eren. " Mikasa replied, a tinge of worry evident on her face.
As they approached the titan and the fleeing members. They could see that it was a 6-meter class titan. It was not the kind of titans that were exceptionally tall so that was good news for them.
But Eren's eyes widened at this moment. The way the titan was moving… it was unlike any other ordinary titan he had seen! It was using its arms as though they were legs, moving like a 4-legged creature.
The titan even occasionally hopped forward to try to cover the distance faster and bring him closer to his tasty prey.
"It's too dangerous to go right for the kill by aiming for the nape right away. The speed this titan is moving at is too fast. We'll have to stop it from moving first. " Eren frowned a little.
"Mikasa! Go for its left arm and leg. I'll take the right. Jill, you go for the nape if there's an opening.
Disable its movements first. Begin on my command!" Eren shouted as the footsteps of the aberrant drew closer and closer.
"Go!"
SHIINNNG
Eren and Mikasa both took off from their horses at the same time.

Whizzz
SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT
Almost in an instant. The titan's limbs were all cut.
"Go for the nape now… eh?" Before Eren could even finish. He heard another familiar sound.
SPLAT
A huge chunk of meat flew off from the deviant's nape as he saw Mikasa's figure standing on the titan's corpse.
"Oi Mikasa! That was too reckless." Eren shouted, expressing his displeasure.
"Look who's talking. " Mikasa jeered with a chuckle as she shook the blood off her blades.
"Are you asking to be punished? Miss Ackerman. I'm YOUR commanding officer. " He raised his tone.
"You can punish me however you like. Officer ERen. " Mikasa smiled as jumped down from the evaporating titan corpse. She wouldn't let Eren be in danger. Not if she could help it.
"…"
"That stupid Erwin. Why did he put you in my team " Eren sighed helplessly as he jumped on his horse.
"Let's group up with the rest and return."

[In a hidden area somewhere in Trost]
A group of people were meeting.
"Training must be fun huh? I'm sure ya'all were busy ironing your bedsheets on your bed alongside your FRIENDS in the bunk . While I, was crawling around the stinky and disgusting capital sewers. "
"Calm down , Annie. It's because your're the most capable , that's why we let you handled it. " Reiner could tell she was seriously pissed.
Annie had a good reason for that. She had been, sneaking out the training frequently , to try and find clues to the real king.
While Berthodt, and Reiner especially , just sat on their fat asses at night, giving her lip service and lectures every time when they met about how they were going to become "heroes" of Marley.
Today was almost the final straw for her. She was tailing a government official and almost got caught. The person was wearing a black coat and gave off a different air compared to the previous people she had followed.
It was an extremely terrifying experience . She considered taking him out first with a surprise kick , when he discovered her. However he was actually able to react and dodge it?
Annie knew her abilities , and especially in close combat , she could be considered the cream of the crop even in the Marley Military. But that man ... was on a totally different level.
She never imagined a monster like that existed within this cramped walls.
"That person I met today.. He's the real deal. I'm certain even if all 3 of us fought him. We would be dead unless we used our titan shifter powers. "
"If I join the interior MP and he is there ... I'll be done for. " Annie continued , both her hands were clasped together, her head slightly bowed down, it was clear she was nervous.
"Maybe we should just return to Marley... the information we hav.... "
"No. We will B.R.E.A.K Wall Rose. " Reiner firmly refused.
"So we're doing it huh? Reiner." Bertholdt asked.
"Yea. As planned. Once we complete our graduation ceremony, the next day, we will break the gates of Trost district followed by Wall Rose. Most of the survey corps are not around so we won't have anything to worry about." Reiner nodded.
"We'll take advantage of the chaos and sneak further within the walls, putting ourselves in the best position to take action should the king of walls move."
"How about that Flash Blade: Eren? Rumors say that his speed is so ridiculous,that with every flash, he takes a titan down. Most of the survey corps may be away but he's still here. " Bertholdt reminded him.
"Flash Blade: Eren? I'll turn him into the Fallen Blade: Eren if he dares to show up."Reiner chuckled with an evil grin.
Those damned eldian devils. No matter how many of them died, it didn't matter to him.
It would be the best if they all perished.
Bertholdt nodded, while a blond-haired figure simply kept quiet before standing up and walking away.
"I feel like I'm going to puke..."

Upon finishing his 4th mapping mission and returning to Trost, Eren could hear the system's voice. He had been anticipating eagerly for the reward.

[Advanced Titan Fighting Skill] Quick Draw :Activates automatically every time the user changes to a new pair of blades. For master titan hunters , changing their blades is as easy as breathing. User changes to a new pair of blades in an instant . This skill can combo with [Hexagonal Slash] and [Quintuple Strike].

Eren was pleasantly surprised . The skill quick draw was really useful. In battles where even a second difference can mean life or death. He would no longer have to worry about the time wasted in changing broken blades .
"But still… survive for one week?" Eren thought to himself. He had a bad premonition something was going to happen .
However , he was going to keep moving forward.
For Mikasa , for Armin , to exterminate the world of titans , and create a happy world for them to live in.
