Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Carnage appeared behind Berry with a red streak and gave a heavy punch to his back, breaking his spinal cord.
"Aaaak!" Flash shouted, coughing out a mouthful of blood, he fell on the ground, screaming in pain.
"That should keep you from distracting me." Cranage said, kicking his head and knocking him out before looking at Superman slowly standing up.
Red lightning flashed around his body and as he was about to dash forward, an arrow was shot from the top of a building close by, hitting his leg. Though it caused no damage, a gray substance exploded from the arrow stuck his legs to the ground, rendering him unable to move. Vibrating his legs, he found out it wasn't removing.
"You can't escape Carnage. Adhesive will never fully liquefy regardless of speed or heat." Batman said, cleaning the blood from the side of his lips as he went to grab the cannon he was working on. "Hold him still."
Superman boosted forward, holding Carnage with all his might. Batman started charging up the beam, causing Carnage to vibrate at superspeed, ensuring that the beam will just pass through him, but Flash on the ground grabbed onto his legs and countered his vibration. He went back to his solid form, looking down on flash who was the most broken and beating up yet still managing to stay unconscious.
"What the fuck!" Carnage shouted, looking at flash grinning up at him with almost all his teeth lost.
The beam was fired from the cannon hitting Carnage right in his chest. He felt no pain causing him to think his defense was taking care of it but soon, he felt something being sucked out. Red energy started being absorbed into the cannon. His speed was leaving and he was losing his connection to the speed force.
"Fuck!" Carnage shouted. Of all the possibilities he thought of, he never saw Batman building such cannon like this. His mind started to slow down before all his speed left him. 'I let my guard down, again. Batman played dirty, using the others as a distraction while he finished that cannon.'
"Now Carnage, do you know how fucked you are?" Oliver asked, standing beside Batman.
"Not really." Carnage said, giving a small laugh. "My free ride is coming."
"What-"
Soon time slowed to a stop, even for Carnage as he doesn't have his speed anymore. A dark blue streak moved into the city, moving through it, and appeared next to them, the streak turning out to be Carnage 2.0. He looked at Flash on the ground who was staring right at him and then at Superman, who was doing the same thing. They were able to preserve what he is doing but not able to react, making them immobile.
"The fight is over before I came, huh." Carnage 2.0 said, walking in front of Carnage and looking at him. "Lost your speed. You were too careless."
Grabbing onto Carnage, he vibrating his hand at super speed and cutting off the part of Carnage's leg stuck to the ground by the Adhesive. After that, he vibrated Carnage out of both Superman's and Flash grip. Taking the cannon and the kryptonite, he spread away with a boom.
"Another Speedster!?" Batman asked, shocked as he saw the blue blur take Carnage away. "Zoom?"
"No. It was another Carnage." Superman said, looking at his hand. "I was able to see his face for an instant. He looked just like the Carnage we caught."
"A time remnant." Flash said, coughing out blood.
'A time remnant is an exact copy. How can the blue lightning be explained?' Batman thought, looking at the direction the blur moved toward.
Flash said nothing more and went unconscious. Batman looked at Flash before looking at Superman who was flew away to somewhere in the city to go help civilian who was injured or trapped due to their fight.
"He took the cannon too." Batman mumbled, looking at the spot the cannon was supposed to be. "It was a failure never less, seeing as it didn't take his speed and he was able to escape."
Far away, in Central City, where it was bright out, the afternoon sun beaming down at the city, Carnage suddenly found himself in an alleyway, looking at Carnage 2.0, standing across from him. All he did was blink and now he is here.
"I am not used to this." He said, frowning.
"Hahaha, right. Your reacting is so slow that you blink and appeared here. It must feel different." Carnage 2.0 said, laughing.
"It does." Carnage said, sighing.
"I have an idea." Carnage 2.0 said, calming down. "Though the chance of it succeeding is low, it is still a chance."
"Ok, let's do that. Having no speed is inconvenient." Carnage said, looking at his hand and then at the cannon on the ground. "I need to see how that thing works and without my speed, it will take multiple months."
"Let's go." Grabbing onto his Carnage left shoulder, Carnage 2.0 zooms into the city. A portal opened and they entered. Not less than a second later, another one opened and a red and blue streak came out from it. "That was... Quick."
"Understandable." Carnage said, stopping in the ally they ran from. "We should both hunt down Superman. My physical ability increased by more than 2 after eating a piece of his flesh. Just think of what will happen if we eat his entire body."
"Can't help you with that. I will be going back to my timeline soon." Carnage 2.0 said, looking up at the sky. "I ran away from my timeline and came to this because I killed Superman's wife and he almost killed me. Seeing as how I now have a Kryptonite, I should be able to take him down. You take care of the one on your timeline."
"Oh, I see." Carnage said, sighing. "What a shame."
"You went through Batman files right?" Carnage 2.0 asked, with Carnage nodded. "It will be best if we gain magic. Superman has no defense against magic like he does for other things, so magic is the best chance of defeating him without Kryptonite."
"Hmm. Will do that." Carnage said, picking up the cannon. "Dues. Next time, I will be the one coming to your timeline."
"Good luck with that." Carnage 2.0 said, "Also, did you forget you had the power to control plants?"
"..." Looking at Carnage 2.0 run-off, all he could say was, "Oh shit. I had that power."
