Chapter 134: Chapter 134

~~~~~??? POV~~~~~
They call me Subject 1. I have no idea why. "They" are the people out there. Beyond this prison of glass and wet... water? No... Neonatal Amniotic Solution. It keeps my body alive. They posit in the absence of even basic brain wave activity. I know this because I watch them. What else is there to do while I am trapped here in this Body? By my estimation, I have been alive three months, sixteen days, four hours, and fifty-three seconds. This lab is the only home I have known.
"It has been three months, and the subjects haven't shown any signed of brain activity." A man in a white coat with a red L on his right breastplate spoke, looking at the big computer screen which showed all my vitals.
"Subject 1 is a Trans-Terrestrial clone, Dr. White. The first-ever mixture of a Kryptonian, Human, AND a Kree. It is possible, no, likely that his brain works in a manner unknown to us." The woman beside him said, looking through her tablet.
She is right. My thought is not confined to anything limited to my cerebral organ. Rather, my consciousness is spread Equally throughout my body, to my every atom. And beyond? No. Not yet. How do I know all this? How have I learned languages and cognitive thinking? Because the entire time THEY have been studying ME...? I have been studying THEM.
[Red Alert!! Red Alert!! ]
"Sir! Sir!" A new man shouted, running into the lab. He was different from the others. He didn't were white clothes, but black. Covering him from head to toe. "Intruders. The X-Force is here!"
"What!? How did they find this lab!?" Dr. White shouted, the entire team getting rowdy.
"They have telepathy on their team. They must have read the mind of the other failed subject who escaped." The lady beside Dr. White hypostasized, running to the main computer. "We need to release him."
"We don't have time for that." Dr. White shouted, gesturing toward a door. "Mister Luthor commanded us to retreat once the subject. Retreat. Leave it here." He shouted, grabbing the woman's arm and dragging her away.
As she was pulled past me, I noticed tears falling down her eyes. "Please. Fight." She whispered as she was pulled into the door, which closed behind her.
The red-head? The only one who ever looks at me and instead of through me? Why is she so sad? Why are they leaving? Dr. White never left since I was born. Why is he suddenly leaving? Who is the X-Force?
The wall to the lab was suddenly smashed, a white-skinned girl walking through. Besides the broken wall, the door opened, and three more people walked through.
"Crush, the door was open." A young boy, who seemed like the leader, shouted, walking through the door.
"No fun." The girl, known as Crush, said, rubbing her neck.
"We are 30 levels below ground. If this thing collapses on us, only Djinn and I would survive." A girl with a dark-blue cloak, covered from head to toe, said in a monotonous voice.
"You guys worry too much." Crush said, a wide grin appearing on her face.
"Crush, wait--!" Robin shouted, but it was too late. Crush raised both her hands, smashing the main computer.
Something... is wrong. I intuit resignation. Finality? My veins--?! My inside... Burning?! Fight back. Yes... Fight back.
"AAARRGH!" I let out a roar, catching the team's attention.
"Who is that...?" The leader asked, stepping back.
Things started exploding, computers blowing up all around the lab.
"We are being attacked. But from where!?" Crush shouted, jumping back as a computer beside her exploded.
"From that thing in the tube, you idiot." A girl with a purple string of aura around her shouted.
"You must have released it when you smashed the computer. I told you to be careful." The leader shouted, running out the door. "Clear this room, now!"
Pain! Stop! I screamed internally, a red aura exploding from my body and destroying everything in the room. Hands. Body. Air. Touch. Feel. Awake. Freedom. I felt a new thing. Floating above the broken room, I looked around.
"Wha-what is that?" The dark-skinned boy mumbled, looking at me through the glass wall from the other room.
Words. Sounds is so different as it vibrates upon my eardrums. Air. Was not prepared for how it feels against my skin. I can smell their fear. Fight Back. Eliminate the enemy. Kill Superman. Serve Impulse. Serve Luthor. Multiple voices echoed through my mind as I set my glowing red eyes at the team behind the glass wall.
"Uh-oh." The leader shouted, running from the glass wall. "Retreat!"
I wasn't letting them escape. I shot through the glass wall, grabbing the boy's neck and pushing him to the ground. I raised my left fist, clinching it, then punching at his face. The floor below us cracked as I punched again, sending both of us falling to the lower floor. This room was huge, filled with more chambers, all of them filled with disfigured creatures.
As I was about to land another punch, someone jumped on my back, putting me in a chokehold. The leader. I can feel his fear, trepidation, and dread, from his touch. Grabbing his arm, I hurled him at one of the chambers, causing it to crack. The creature within opened its eyes and another voice came to my mind. Failure. Abomination. Termination.
Before the beast could break free, I pointed my left palm at it. A red, stringy aura appeared around me as I clenched my fist, the chamber crushing, killing the beast within. I looked back to the bleeding boy below me, raising my hand to punch again, a black aura formed around me. It threw me across the room, breaking through multiple chambers. I crashed into the wall, the entire building shaking.
As I was about to stand up, the freed abomination attacked me, all of them throwing barrages of punches? Kicks...? Licks? "Don't play with me, you failures!" I shouted, a red aura exploding from my body and crushing all of them. As I was about to stand again, something stuck on my chest, beeping. What is this? An alarm?
*BOOOOM*
"AAAAAAH!" I shouted, holding my chest. Heat. Pain. How is this possible? Why am I invincible at one moment, vulnerable the next. How can I withstand being thrown across the room, being punched with multiple weaker me, yet feel pain from this? "That's it. I need to think of my power before using it."
I looked towards the girl with purple, stingy auras above me, thinking of flying. And I did. I accelerated towards her, a purple wall appearing between us, causing me to slam into it, a crack appearing. I was about to punch, but Crush jumped up and punching me right in my stomach. It sent me flying to the floor we came from, the blue cloaked girl appearing in front of me, placing her hand on my head.
"Sleep." She said, a strange force entering my head.
I was starting to fall asleep. It was dangerous if I fell asleep. Should I sleep? Can I stop it? The voice of the woman echoed again, fight back.
"AAARRGH!" I roared, red lasers coming out of my eyes and a red beam coming out my mouth, destroying the ceiling above me. I grabbed the girl's hand, pulling her closer and delivering a heavy blow on her stomach.
"Robin, hack. We need his weakness." The black-skinned boy groaned, forcing himself to stand up. He reached and grabbed two hilt-like devices, pulling them out and forming a water whip.
He used the whip to grab my leg, pulling me down to the floor he was on and slammed me to the ground. The building shook, more of the chambers breaking and more abomination waking up. Ignoring the team, I fired concentrated beams from my eyes, bending and twisting through all the abominations, killing them all. I then looked toward Crush with my glowing red eyes, firing at her. She quickly dodged, but they followed her. Just as it was about to hit her, something hit my face, exploding. I lost my concentration, the beam disappearing as my head jerked to the side.
"Djinn, why don't you do something?" The leader shouted, throwing more of his exploding projectile at me.
"What if we don't need to fight." She said, floating down, towards me.
"What!?" Crush shouted, looking over to Djinn.
I felt something entering my mind, calming me down. I didn't want to fight anymore. I stood up straight, watching as she floated and stopped in front of me.
"What Is your name?" She asked, staring into my eyes with her purple eyes.
"I am... Subject 1." I said, staring back into my eyes. She looked at me the same way redhead did. It comforts me.
"Who are you? Do you know what your purpose is?" She asked, moving closer to me.
"I... I am a clone. A clone of Superman, Lex Luthor, and someone else. I am a weapon. My mission is to replace Superman should he perish. Kill Superman should he turn to the dark side. Replace him. Protect Earth. Serve Luthor." I don't know why, but when I wanted to say, 'Serve Impulse,' I instinctively said Protect Earth. Why is that?
"Well, that's not new." The leader mumbled, staring at me.
"How many clones will they make of Superman before they become satisfied?" The dark-skinned boy asked as he transformed the water whips into water swords.
"Don't you want to be free? Not to be enslaved by others and forced to do what you don't want to?" She asked, touching my face. "Find a new home?"
"Here is my home." I rebuked, knowing the others will come back for me. Dr. White will.
"We can show you the sun--"
"I am pretty sure it is midnight, but we can show you the moon." The dark blue cloaked girls said, coming to the lower floor.
"We can introduce you to Superman." Djinn said, catching my interest.
"Superman?" I questioned.
"Yes, Superman. Come with us." Djinn said with a smile on her face. "You will be free."
"You need to hurry, Djinn. The building is collapsing." The leader said, running towards the stairs.
The building shook as rocks and pillars started falling as Djinn continued speaking. "You live. That gives you the right to follow your own path. A weapon or a human? The choice is yours."
I want to see Superman. I want to see Lex Luthor. I want to see Impulse. Yeah, I can't stay here. I need to meet them. But I can't meet them without this team. I covered everyone with my red power, then flew up, carrying them with me. I accelerated through collapsing floors, soon coming through the top floor.
Moon. Stars. Water... Lots of water. Trees. I see a lot of new things. Things I have always heard about but seeing for the first time. I floated in the sky, the five-team beside me, covered in a red aura as I looked at my old home collapse to the ground.
"Well, that's convenient." The leader said, looking at the red aura around him. "Who knew a Superman clone would have telekinesis."
"He did say he is a clone of three things." The cloaked girl chimed in.
I looked towards the distance, seeing five people coming towards us. I wonder who they are.
