Chapter 4: Workshop
The ride to the workshop was quite smooth, except for several stops at the red traffic lights.
In the car, the LCD screen displayed some child's nursery 'Cocomelon', which Lily loves so much. She giggled and laughed at several songs that picked her interest. Luna whom was driving, smiling indulgently when she sees her daughter at the backseat sways her head according to the song's rhythm from the rear view mirror.
Lily is the God's blessing for her. Lily's presence taught her to be more patient, more lenient, more stronger and tolerant. When the first time she realized she was pregnant with Lily two weeks after she married Alex, Luna was stunned. She felt complicated, for all she knew she was not very good with kids. She knew she had quite hot-tempered when something went wrong, resulted from her tough childhood experiences.
Luna felt worried, happy and sad at the same time, but overall she felt blessed to be able to become a mother. She tried very hard to love, cherish and giving her daughter everythings, even though some times she felt drained and stressed, almost became a monster. She would be lying if she said she never shouted at her daughter. But everytime it did happened, she would apologized to Lily and hugged her tightly.
The sound of the car's horn from behind broke Luna's reminiscene as she quickly apologize and shift the gear and accelerate the car. She turns at the next junction before stopping around a kilometer away and parked in front of a suburb neighbourhood.
Sister Chien excitedly opened the backseat and unbuckled the child car seat before she picked Lily up. She animatedly talks to Lily even though the child just reply by nodding or shaking her head. She directly carry her into the double storey shoplot.
Luna just smile while shaking her head and fetch her backpack and a big shopping bag from the shotgun seat. From outside the shop, she could hear Lily's laughter. It sounds like a melody to her ears.
"Good afternoon, madam."
She is greeted by a young lady, whom she assumed one of the workshop trainees. She managed a small polite smile before greeted back. She proceeds to a room which they used as a kitchenette. There she sees Lily proudly showed her jungle in autumn painting to Sister Chien, in which Sister Chien praised her to the moon.
"Sis Chien, may I troubled you to asked everyone to come here?"
Sis Chien readily stood up and walks towards the kitchenette entry before shouting, "Everyone, everyone..come here, come here.."
Her loud voice echoed at every corner of the shop and almost at the same time all the workers and trainees gather in front of the room.
Luna shake her head helplessly when she sees the smug smile on Sis Chien's face. Sis Chien may had a loud voice, but she actually a nice lady. Luna turned her head towards the room entry before she asked everyone to take their seats.
"I had baked some cookies and cupcakes. I'll feel grateful if everyone can provide me with some honest comments and constructive criticisms. Come, have a taste. Don't be shy," she said with a small smile.
Sis Chien already munching on a cookies before Luna could finished her sentences. She then moans after she take a bite of a cupcake.
"Woww..these...these are so good. No..no..good is understatement. These are heaven," she exclaimed with closed eyes.
When she opens her eyes, you probably be blinded by how shining her eyes and how big and bright smile she had.
"You are exaggerating, Sis Chien." Luna smiled.
"No..I'm not. If you don't believed me, asked everyone else," she said while busily munching on another cookies.
Everyone in the room nodded vigorously at her statement. Some of them said they gladly pay higher price for the cookies and cupcakes because it was worth it. Some even said, it was better if she could make another portion with less sugar, to tackle other people whose worried about their sugar intake. Overall, she get a rating of 9.8 out 10 from both cookies and cupcakes.
After everyone finished eating, Luna announced they will have a meeting right after she finished evaluates everyone progressions and finished products.
Everyone disperse towards their own work stations while preparing their respective works. Although their boss seem amiable to everyone, the workers knew fully well how strict their boss was when it comes to works. So they advise the new trainees to toughen their heart if ever she criticises them.
Meanwhile, Luna finished jotting down some important notes as her mind running in full gear. She looks up and sees Lily smiling sweetly at her with both her hands cupping her cheeks. Luna smiled back and strode to picks up her daughter. She kisses her cheeks and softly asked if she wants to take a nap. Lily nodded and immediately cuddles her mother. Luna humming a lullaby and pats her back gently while walking out of the room towards the workstations.
