Chapter 85: Chapter 84- People Of Interest

I hardly slept, but was grateful that Wam was sleeping with his arms wrapped around me. I tried to act nonchalant, but someone tried to burn down his cabin. I and/or Wam may have been targets. How can anyone be so cruel?

Just as the first light hit the sky, I felt Wam slip out of bed and head downstairs. I decided to shower quickly before throwing on jeans and a long sleeved shirt and heading to the kitchen. The strong aroma of coffee filled my olfactory senses and practically led me all the way to the kitchen.

There in front of the sink, with a coffee cup in his hand, was Wam. He appeared deep in thought, staring at the floor, and didn't seem to notice me. I walked past him and began to prepare myself a cup of coffee. Wam surprised me by grabbing my mug, bowing, and saying, "at your service m'lady," as he began to pour coffee from a carafe into my mug. When finished, he held the cup in front of him to hand it to me with eyes downcast.

"Thank you peasant," I said before testing the temperature with my lips. "You made a fine cup of coffee. I think that deserves a promotion young man."

"Oh, thank you your highness. It is my…pleasure, to serve you in…any… way," Wam said with a devilish smirk.

I smiled at Wam, ran my tongue over my top teeth, and then in an exaggerated manner, sucked my lower lip into my mouth. I tentatively moved my face closer to his, but not quite touching. Hovering just below him, I whispered, "I'm in need of a manstress or possibly a paramour…That is, if you're interested?" My smile and eyes widened as I looked from Wam's eyes to his lips. Both our hands were empty, having placed our objects on the counter. Wam framed my face with his hands and covered my lips with his.

I couldn't help but moan as he deepened the kiss. Wam licked his tongue into my mouth and tipped his head just so… I forgot where I was at and that what we were doing was maybe not for shared spaces, but I simply didn't care. I didn't care about anything except getting as close to Wam as possible.

These clothes I just put on, we're suddenly too warm and too tight. I felt Wam's fingers skim the area above the waist of my jeans and somehow under my shirt. I loved the feel of his hands on my skin. I could feel his warmth and the strength in his hands when he touches me. A shiver that had nothing to do with being cold, ran through my whole body. I could almost feel all rational thoughts leave my head. My body went from thinking and speaking to pure feeling.

This kiss was nothing like the gentle, innocent kiss he gave me yesterday. This kiss is like a precursor to what he hopes to show me tonight. It feels like a claiming. I'm not sure for whose benefit Wam was being aggressive, possessive, and sexy as all hell, but I'd do almost anything if he will just finish what he has started. I was consumed by the physical contact until I heard a deep voice cough.

"Wam, stop," I said as I attempted to push him back away from me for two reasons. One, to get off Marvin's counter with my boyfriend between my legs, and sticking his tongue down my throat. Two, it was disrespectful to be making out in their kitchen…again. "Wam, I need to get down."

Wam backed up, crossed his arms over his chest, and smirked at me. Just as I slid off the counter and took a deep breath, Marve shuffled into the room and sat at the table. His chest was moving rapidly and I went into caregiver mode. "Marve, let me get you a neb set up," I said as I assembled the neb cup, squeezed the medicine into it, attached the mask, connected the tubing, and slid the elastic over his head before I pushed, 'on' and the mist started. I took a seat at the table next to him, and within a couple minutes, Marve looked less out of breath. This did not give me a good feeling about all the walking to our appointment today.

I heard the television in the living room click on but thought little of it until Wam said, "Kynlee?"

I stood and walked into the living room but stayed where I could see Marve in case he needed me. "What's up?" I said as I looked in Wam's direction.

Wam motioned toward the television and increased the volume slightly. They were discussing some national news before a male announcer came on and said, "thank you Nancy. Now in local news..the Olmstead County Sheriff's Department, would like your help in locating these people of interest in connection with a fire that took place yesterday." A couple pictures popped up on the screen and the announcer continued, "the picture on the left is of Dr. Ahman Armani. Next is Dr. Kelly Adams. If you see these individuals, please inform your local authorities. These individuals may have information necessary to help solve a crime."

My mouth gaped open and my eyes were glued to the screen as the broadcaster droned on. "Now, don't forget that your local orchards still have plenty of apples, pumpkins, and activities for the children…" my eyes flickered to Wam's, and noticed Jane in the doorway of their bedroom, dressed for work, and also listening to the television.

As Jane fastened the buttons on the distal aspects sleeves of her pink blouse, she asked, "Wam, aren't they both colleagues of yours?"

"Yes mam," Wam spoke in a bit of a sigh as he rubbed his thumb and index fingers of one hand, across his forehead in opposite directions. Everyone remained quiet expecting someone to say more, but after buttoning the second button, Jane turned on her black stocking-footed heel, and strode back into her bedroom. I crossed the room to stand in the doorway of Jane and Marve's room to ask Jane, "Marve seems awfully winded the last day or so. Do you have a walker or wheelchair or something I can use in case Marve becomes weak today?"

"I thought I showed you the collapsible wheelchair in the trunk of my car," Jane replied, "remember?"

I nodded, "but won't you have your car at work? I can't reach the trunk of your car if it's not here."

Jane smiled, shook her head as she slipped her second pump onto her foot, and tapped her index finger on her temple as she turned to stand in front of me. "Smart girl Ms. Kynlee. How about we switch vehicles today just in case you need it? The other option would be to grab a wheelchair from the entrance of the clinic. They always have wheelchairs at each main entrance."

I smiled as well and felt sheepish about Jane's compliment that I was, 'a smart girl'. "I umm didn't realize each building had wheelchairs. I can just grab one then. You can take your car," I reassured her.

Jane grabbed a packet of papers off the dresser and brought it to me. The sun was now shining brightly and gave us plenty of light, as Jane showed me the itinerary for today as well as a map that showed which building and where there was parking. We discussed our meeting time, location of appointment, where Jane would meet us, and we verified cell phone numbers for myself, Jane, and Wam. I was hoping Marve would be strong enough that we would make it okay on our own.

Jane was the first to leave for work. I assisted Marve with a quick breakfast, before Wam and I ate with him. The nebulizer treatment seemed to help make his breathing slightly easier again, and Wam ate most of his food. I'd noticed his appetite seems better if someone sits and eats with him. As Marve and I finished up, Wam slipped off to dress for the Board of Directors' meeting. He hoped to speak with the tailor at lunch and hopefully get clothing and such ordered. Last evening, the Fire Chief who handles arson investigations in this area, had said it could be more than a week before Wam could get back inside the cabin. Luckily most of his things were in Red Wing. Whatever was in the cabin would have to be dealt with after evidence gathering was complete.

Being the gentleman he is, Wam escorted me and Marve to Marve's car, and made sure we were settled, before following us toward the clinic. For us, Radiology, for Wam, the Board of Directors' meeting. Wam agreed to text me when his meeting ended to touch base. Wherever he was staying, I wanted to be there tonight too, if possible.
