Chapter 2: Where am I?

The horn blared within the transportation craft as its oval bodywork shuddered with anticipation. Frosty air emanated from the cryostasis chamber, condensing on the damaged hardware. Nutritional fluid and distilled water erupted out from the gelatine casing, giving sight to something peculiar. A pale-skinned, black-haired boy stared back. His hair glossy, hydrated by cryo fluid whilst his body was bare; however, giving off a unique scent of mystery; he didn't belong on this planet. The steams of cold air finally dissipated, the temperature normalised, signalling the activation procedure. The body stirred.

The boy's eyelids opened, revealing cocoa-brown irises tinged with uncertainty. Gaining focus, he witnessed his surroundings: a metal dome enveloped him, damaged at parts but not entirely broken. There was a faint aura pulsing from the control panel. He saw a rectangular object with an oval indent which was empty. Curious, he exited the cryostasis chamber that had wires meticulously attached to it. Picking up the rectangular fob, he placed it within his palm, trying to determine if he shared any familiarity with it. Nothing came to mind. With a sigh, he attempted to return the rectangular fob to its original location.

Suddenly, a voice echoed within his cerebral system.

"That was once where I resided, Master: a rectangular codex, capable of storing and maintaining artificial intelligence," said the voice. The boy's face twisted into bewilderment, utterly confused, he looked around the space.

"What the hell was that?" thought the boy.

"That…humph a bit rude Master Elderond, you may have not, named me yet; but, I am far more than just an object."

"What do you mean? Who are you? Who am I? Where the hell am I? Most importantly, why the fuck am I naked? " shouted Elderond hysterically.

"Woah, hold on there... young Master, before we get to the main point…you need to give me a name" Elderond swore he heard some cheek within the voice.

After pondering the voice's suggestion, his mouth opened again.

"Why is giving you a name the highest priority?!" said Elderond with annoyance.

"Well, we are going to be spending the rest of our lives together, so why not get much more closely acquainted?"

"I'm going crazy… I'm talking to myself- no wonder someone locked me into some mental metal prison and cast me into space," thought Elderond, who was becoming more depressed as time went along.

"Alright, well, I guess I have no choice…I need to know what is going on. So you want a name? Hmmm. Well, since you're so cheeky, I shall name you Medea Campbell," said Elderond. His mouth twitched into a smirk.

"Wait a minute… that means cunning crooked mouth…damn it, Master, you're not good with the ladies, are you?" The voice was vividly irritated. "Humph, I think it sums you up perfectly. Thus, you're named!" said Elderond triumphantly.

Elated, Elderond began to rummage the storage compartments within the transportation craft, trying to appease the discomfort of being nude. Medea, who finished sulking, transmitted the correct storage compartment to her Master. Adorning his clothes, Elderond looked at the small mirror inside the storage compartment. A young man stared back. A loose shirt hung to his slim frame whilst oversized trousers adorned his legs. It was a mismatch made in heaven. All this, topped off with some jet black shoes, gave him an intriguing look. "I look like a reject," thought Elderond. But, more important matters were at hand; he needed to know what was going on. "Now answer my questions, Medea enough of this nonsense!" commanded Elderond.

"Hmm, no need to be so pedantic, Master! I shall reveal as much as necessary."

"Well, who you are... Simply put, a created being, genetically modelled from the optimum genetics of the human race. You have no family, no relatives, no friends, only me ha-ha."

"Your name 'Elderond' originates from a movie character. 'El' standing for star whilst 'rond' standing for a vault. Ironic, considering you are the last of the human race; the last star, you contain all their knowledge. That knowledge- is stored within me, Medea."

"Now onto the next question, for what I am, it is simple: artificial intelligence. However, I am a unique artificial intelligence, one that was created, with the use of immortal essence; thus, I can manifest from your mind into reality once the conditions for the seals: have been met."

Elderond saw Medea smirking within his mind; his brows furrowed. The ability to materialise into living matter, interesting indeed, he thought.

"I am the key to your potential within this Universe and many others. As you unlock each seal from a total of eight seals, you will experience massive growth. However, if you can handle the increase in power is simply down to you."

"Now for where you are. That is a bit more interesting. This transportation craft was meant: for one purpose. To carry you to the last know outpost of the human race after the invasion eradicated 99% of the population within the Universe they governed. The final one per cent remains in that outpost, training for a chance at retribution."

"Due to dimensional fluxes, this craft's navigation system malfunctioned, heading to a Gamma Level Universe, influenced by the-elemental laws. You are currently on a blue-green planet. Planet Hystious in the elemental solar system."

"Lastly, for why you were naked when waking… it is simply due to the fact you were created, in a cryostasis chamber with nutritional fluid."

Your body needed constant absorbance to grow to an adequate state. Clothes would be a nuisance."

Elderond breathed deeply. He finally understood his origins, surroundings and what Medea was. There was one more thing he needed to know.

"Who destroyed my race?" anger seethed silently from his voice.

"I'm afraid, Master, you are not qualified yet to know."

Medea prompt reply only irritated him further.

"Why?!"

"You are far too weak in your current state. If I told you and you took things into your own hands. You would most likely die."

Silence descended again inside the oval craft. With a final sigh, Elderond spoke.

"Medea, what should I do? I am too weak as you say and know nothing…"

A faint weakness was evident within his current expression.

"Fear not, Master Elderond, you must grow strong, learn faster and be patient. Our enemy is strong; so, your will must be stronger to succeed."

"I will guide you!"

The weakness dissipated from his expression; strength returned. With determination firmly imprinted in his eyes, he turned. The exit hatch button solidified into view.

It was time to journey on the path of retribution.
