Chapter 4: Card Sealing Skill

More than 50 teenagers were sitting cross-legged at the center of Village Hall. The parents and families of the teenagers had been asked to step aside by the village hall staff.

Alto looked around him to find out that the majority of the participants of the ceremony were from his school. The rest should come from places around his village and some older teenagers that couldn't attend last year for various reasons.

"Okay, take a breath slowly and calm your mind! Close your eyes and be ready to accept whatever comes to you. I will open your soul locks so your hidden talent that has been suppressed could bloom.

Remember, after the lock is opened, focus your mind to comprehend the nature of your talent. It is a precious moment that won't come to you for the second time. So whatever happens, stay focused!" Anna guided everyone from the podium.

Alto then took a long breath and closed his eyes. It would be a lie, if he wasn't nervous. It was not a game. In the game, it was normal for a player to have an occupation. However, this was the real world. Everything could happen. Although he had an ability to look at the goblin's world, no one would guarantee that he would be a summoner.

He then looked at the goblin village. It was still normal. The goblins were still busy with their daily lives.

"So, I think everyone is ready, right?" Anna asked.

"Yes~," Many teenagers answered.

"Then, let's start!" Anna said.

Anna's body then floated in the air slowly. Her eyes glowed a blue color.

It made people in the village hall who watched it alarmed. Many of them had watched the process of the awakening ceremony many times. Each envoy had his or her own method to do the ceremony. However, it was the first time they saw such an eye-catching technique.

The village hall staff then tried to calm the people. It was an important ceremony after all. It could easily go wrong if the process was disturbed.

As for the teenagers who sat at the center, they didn't realize anything wrong. They were in a deep meditation state. Trying to comprehend a new sensation that they felt.

Alto, like the other teenagers, felt a sensation he never had felt. He as if could feel his blood circulating around his body, every time he breathed, he could feel new energy although so slightly entered his lungs and then being sucked by something between his lungs.

He knew that it was his core. Not like beasts and other creatures that had low intelligence, human's core was abstract. In a normal situation, the owner wouldn't be able to feel it, because it was attached to his soul.

Core was an important organ that absorbed and stored mana. This abstract organ, not like other organs, appeared after a human was born. It continued to grow along with the human's growth.

It would be mature when a human was 10 to 13 years old. However, there were some cases when it completely matured at 14 years old. So, for safety reasons, teenagers would attend the awakening ceremony when he or she was 15 years old.

Alto felt his core started to work. It continued to absorb mana from the air that he had inhaled.

'Finally, I'm awakened. It's too easy. Now, the next step…,' Alto was glad, his core had been working.

From what he had studied from school, he knew that he had already awakened. Even if he couldn't complete the next step, at least he would become a user.

However, of course, he wasn't satisfied with just becoming a user. He had already occupied the world where the goblins lived, so technically he had the capital to be a summoner.

After being awakened, all people would get a skill, 'Card Sealing'. So, it could be said that everyone had this skill. It is used to sealing something to a card. They could be creatures, spell-like skills, and items.

The only requirement for something to be able to be sealed in the card was, it was your own thing. It looked obvious, but it was pretty complicated.

Everything in this world had strings of fate. string of fate was the relationship between one thing to creatures. it was produced from the pure awareness of all creatures.

For example, when someone stole someone's thing, the theft would never become the owner of something that he stole. Because deep down he knew that it was acquired by wrong means and the real owner felt that he still had right over the thing.

It became complicated when a thing became the object of conflict of interest. For example, a parent has died in an accident. He only had a child. In law perception, all of the parent's possession would be inherited to the child. However, many times the child wouldn't able to seal anything from his parent's inheritance because the parent didn't want to give them to anyone, before he died.

There was some kind of espers that had ability to trace string of fate. However, their number was really low and their technique required some harsh requirements. They could trace someone's offspring or trace the owner of something.

Alto was taken aback by the warning. He didn't understand what the warning meant. However, subconsciously he felt if he didn't agree, it was impossible for him to summon any goblin from the goblin world, so he wouldn't become a summoner.

However, at the same time, he was afraid, if some changes happened, it would leave a hidden danger to him.

He didn't have any choice, except to accept it. Because he was the inhabitant of this world, it would be impossible to get benefits from the goblin world before synchronizing its law with this world's.

He was still confused with the phrase 'world fragment', but he decided to study it later.

Alto could only wait patiently. There was nothing he could do. Even if he wanted to interfere, he couldn't, as the synchronization ran automatically. Looking at the pace of synchronization, it would take a while for it to compete.

He tried a few times to access the goblin world, but for some reason, he couldn't. He thought it was normal, as it was being synchronized to this world.

Meanwhile, in the goblin world, all goblins, no! All creatures were in panic. An Earthquake was happening. Although the tremor was not too strong, the creatures felt that their world was suffering. They didn't know what could make their world suffer.

However, as the inhabitants of the world, somehow, they could feel its suffering.

In the goblin village, many goblins were gathering in the yard of the biggest straw house. The goblins who were outside of the village were running towards there hurriedly.

Two old goblins entered the house hurriedly. In front of them, an old goblin was in a meditating pose.

"What has happened, Eldest? What do you think has happened to the world?" A panicked old goblin asked the meditating old goblin.

"Wait Second! The world is trying to communicate with me," Eldest said while still closing his eyes.

After a minute, he opened his eyes. Helplessness was on his face, "It is beyond our power. The world said that a bigger world wanted to swallow its consciousness."

The two goblins were startled. The other goblin then asked, "B-but the king surely will save us. Just like 15 years ago."

"I also think so. Surely he will save us. After all, he is our king. But, the world said that he has permitted the bigger world to swallow our world's consciousness. It seems it is his means to enter this world. As you two know, he always observes us, but for some reason he can not enter this world," Eldest said.

"Yes, it must be like that. It is impossible for our king to abandon us," Second said.

"However, it will severely damage our roots. After all, we are connected to our world. Once the consciousness of our world is swallowed by the bigger world, we will become totally different goblins. We will lose our special characteristics.

Sigh….

What we can do right now is to protect our children. Second! Third! Get out and order all of our children to come back to the village! The beasts outside must become crazy. It is not safe for them to be outside," Eldest order the two goblins.
