Chapter 2: Chapter 1

"Jisung? Is that you?"

Jisung was walking to the school when someone called his name. He turned around and saw his friend Chenle.

"Oh, hey! You're in this university too?" He asked.

"Yeah. My brother goes here and he says that it's really competitive. There's even something called the Elite 10."

Jisung raised an eyebrow, "Elite 10?

"It's a group of top students who attend this school. Some of them even have assistants."

"Count me in. The next time you see me, I'll be in 1st place!"

"Good luck then! To be in the Elite 10, you have to go through a series of competitions. Like singing, rapping, dancing, or even music producing. The student in 1st place is Lee Minho, he's known to be really rude and cold to others. But he's amazing at creating choreos, he can also rap AND sing."

"What about the rest of them?"

"2nd place is Bangchan. I heard that he's created songs like Levanter and Double knot. 3rd place is Seo Changbin, he produces a lot of rap songs and raps really well. The rest of them are on the school's bulletin board. There's 2 couples, Hwang Hyunjin in 4th place and Kim Seungmin in 5th. There's also Lee Felix in 6th place and he's with Seo Changbin."

"Okay, but aren't there any vacant places?"

"There's 1 seat open. The year just started so everyone's preparing. To be able to go against the Elite 10, you have to be the top student of your class."

"Ohh Okay, are they nice?"

"Most of them. They call themselves Stray Kids. They're all really close friends. They're kind of like the student council."

"I'm excited. Come on! I have to get my schedule."

"Alright! I'll see you later Jisungie!" He walked the opposite direction, towards a group of people he seemed to know.

Jisung entered the main building of the university and asked around about where the main office was. He found it, and went inside, seeing a blond student organizing papers.

"Hi, I'm Han Jisung, a new student. I came here for my schedule?"

"Oh, a new student! I'm Bangchan, you can call me Chan. This is your schedule." He handed out a piece of paper to the latter.

Bangchan...Isn't he in the top 10?

"Thank you.. Chan?"

"Yup! Also, you should get to class, the bell rings in 10 minutes."

Jisung checked his watch and hurried out the room. "Thank you again!" He said.

Chan smiled before going back to what he was doing.

Jisung ran into the classroom he was supposed to have first and saw everyone talking. "Phew, I'm not late."

Almost all the seats were taken except for the ones in the back.

How unlucky must I be?

Jisung doesn't have the best vision, so he prefers to sit in the front.

There was one seat available though, he walked there and sat down, fixing his things. He sat up and saw people whispering.

"Does he have any shame? How can he just sit there?"

"Dude, calm down. He's probably a new student."

"Still, he should know his place."

Jisung didn't mind them but he heard someone whisper: "Does he even know who he's beside?"

He turned around and saw a brown haired guy reading a book.

"Hi, I'm Han Jisung, a new student!"

The brown haired guy closed his book and smiled at him. "Hi Jisung. I'm Seungmin."

ANOTHER ONE?!?!

"Um... What are you reading there?"

"It's a book my boyfriend gave to me. He knows I love studying so he buys me a lot." Seungmin smiled to himself.

Jisung broke, he couldn't keep his curiosity to himself. "Are you Seungmin... from the Elite 10?"

"I guess you call it that. But I'm not too into titles."

"Oh, sorry."

"It's fine. Anyway, let's be friends. You seem nice. The other students who try to be my friend always just try to use me for fame. It's kind of sad, really."

"Sure! Don't worry, I won't do that."

The two of them shook hands and talked a little more before the teacher arrived.

He and Seungmin had the same subject next, Theatre. So they agreed to go there together.

"By the way Hannie, you should be mindful of your grades. Failing a class could get you expelled. I'll help you though!"

"Thanks Seungmin."

"You can call me Minnie. Most of my friends call me that."

They arrived in the auditorium and sat beside each other. The teacher arrived and greeted everyone. "Hi guys! I'm Lee Taeyong. Welcome to your theatre arts class!" Then the class began."

"I know it's very soon. But you'll have a play in 3 months. You guys will be making the plot, script, props and everything! I'll be here guiding you. The play will be performed on the day of your school fair."

Everyone started whining.

"But sir, we don't even know anything about how to make a play!"

"You'll have many lectures and a written test at by the end of the next 2 weeks. If you pass, then I'll let you all take part in the play. You're allowed to retake the test one more time. But if you still fail, I'm sure you all know what happens."

Everyone became quiet.

Most schools would talk to their parents if the students fail, but JYPU was a very prestigious university. Failing a class simply meant you weren't good enough or you didn't try hard enough. Obviously, the pressure put on the students was extreme, but on top of that, there was the competitiveness of battles within the school.

The teacher was asked to talk to a student so the others had tome to talk to themselves.

"Minnie. If you're a top student, why are you here? Do you still need to attend class?"

"For us, it's fine to miss a few sessions but I like going to class. It's better than sitting in a room sorting papers."

"You have a point. Anyways, how did you get into the top 10?"

"I've attended this school since high school, I loved to sing and dance so I practiced a lot. I would practice my dance from 6pm to around 2-3am. Then after a few hours of sleep, I'd go to the music room and practice my vocals for a good 5-7 hours a day. I may seem like I'm exaggerating but I had to train so much to even put up a fight with other students. Chan hyung and Hyunjinnie helped me a lot, I'm really thankful for them."

"We just became friends but... I'm so proud of you!! You're basically fit to be a trainee!"

"Thanks Jisungie. I don't hear that a lot."

"Well you should hear it more!"

The teacher finished talking with one student and continued the class again.
