Chapter 2: Cold Flashes

I was brought back to reality as my feet became cold immediately she began the exercise. I could feel the knife going through the left surface of my skin. I guess she was in search of a nice spot, before I knew it she found that spot, the rest would be history. As she pierced my skin, my scream was backup with tears as I watched my blood being placed in a cup. Too weak to stand, move or even cry, I just froze in my pain.

"You are doing well my Precious!" She left my room with the cup in her hand leaving me in my present state. I Blacked out.

I think I can say I am deaths biggest fan, begging it to take me away. But it refuses every single time, leaving with me more and more memories I so much want to forget.

I opened my eyes and the whole room felt upside down. Having been used to the pain, I had to find a way.

So I placed my hand on the spot, it was time to survive.

I tore my cloth and used the piece to stop the blood flow, everything kept turning.

Or is this the end?

"Run, don't stop, keep running, don't look back, run from those words, run from the past, run!!!!!!!!!" my head screamed so loud, but my legs didn't listen, as I lost control and fell to the floor, trying to shout for help. Everything flashed before me, a bittersweet moment, this could be my chance to end it. I looked at the door, "thank you Mom for making my wish come true" I closed my eyes and open my arms to embrace death. Then with the little strength, I could get I whispered "finally"

What is that beeping sound, is that the sound of heaven's choir? Why that beeping? I opened my eyes to be found in the hospital bed.

HOSPITAL!!!!

Why here, I was expecting my body to be already six feet under. I squeezed the bed sheet in anger.

Can't I just go?

Let me go in peace... Please... Is that too much to ask?

While still complaining, a figure walked in. Apparently, he was the doctor taking care of me.

"Young lady how do you feel now?" He spoke very calmly.

But I refused to speak, he was the one who couldn't allow me just die in peace.

"I know you are not happy, your mom called for help when she saw you in your room almost bleeding to death".

Wait! Did he just say my mom?

"Why would you try to kill yourself?" as he said this, it was as though a big Boulder hit my chest real hard and I could barely breathe.

"Your mom is really worried about you, you are lucky to have her." By this time tears no longer tried holding back, as they went freely to my cheeks.

"But doc..." Just before I could say anything there she was, standing right in front of me, the woman who brought me into this world and yet making this world a living hell.

"Doctor, how is she doing?" She asked with so much compassion. I could have mistaken her for Mrs Samantha.

But even with that false pretense I know she meant none of those words.

"She is getting better, all she needs is rest, enough rest." The doctor replied still being very very calm.

Wait, is everyone blind not to see my mom for who she is?

I turned to face the wall, backing, wishing I could walk through walls. A place of escape, life or death.

"My precious, please don't do that again. You know mum can't leave without you or have you forgotten about all the beautiful plans we made?" As she made that statement, all I could say was "Ethiopia, why me?"

"Let's not forget about that so soon" she brushed my hair calmly leaving the room thicker than fog.

I really needed saving.

I didn't realize I had spent two days in the hospital before gaining consciousness...Two days of peace.. life is just so hard.

"Miss Daisy, your test results show you are responding to treatment. Hopefully you'll soon be out of here." He spoke with so much excitement for me when first of all I had no home to go to, a bed to lay my head.

All I have are memories of things that snatch sleep, things like the ritual, my mom, and most of all, Ethiopia.

Ethiopia; the place where it started but never ended. The

Beginning of the Ritual.
