Chapter 5: Give up?
Skyla staggered back as she stared at Daniel in fear.
How could this happen?
Skyla scrunched her eyebrows as her hands clutched her sweater hard. Just moments ago, she was expecting her first kiss yet it suddenly turned into a bloodbath..
Skyla gulped as she took a step back away from him. Her mind was scrambling for a solution making her head dizzy.
She shuddered when she saw Daniel's body twitch violently before a snarl erupted from his mouth. Blood drained from her face when she saw those bloodshot eyes focus on her with hunger. His lips curled up, showing his teeth, as he snarled loudly.
Suddenly, the smell of blood wafted to her nose, making her flinch.
'Damn'
She hurriedly hid her hand inside her sweater hoping it would lessen the tension in the air. But, his eyes grew darker as he shook his head to snap out of it.
Her heart dropped when she heard him roar in agony. Tears welled up in her eyes when she saw him scratch himself with his newly grown long nails.
Scratch marks appeared on his face making it bleed slightly. But Daniel turned around agitatedly as if the pain didn't bother him. He smashed his fists against the table in front of him, breaking it into pieces.
He grunted as if he was displeased by his progress. Gritting his teeth, he wrecked the tables around him making Skyla shiver in fright. Looking at his stature, she realized that he was trying to snap out of his trance.
Her eyes widened in hope as she called out softly, "D-Daniel"
She saw him freeze in his actions before he slowly turned around to face her. His eyes widened slightly before he took a step back.
Skyla looked at him in shock as he took steps back, putting distance between them. If she was in doubt before, she was sure now. She saw the love and guilt he held for her in his eyes making her doubt vanish into thin air
Daniel was in there somewhere. He is trying to fight the monster within him. Trying his best to stay sane for her.
As realization struck her, Skyla choked on her tears, "Daniel, I'm sorry"
He shook his head indicating that it wasn't her fault. His eyes widened in horror when he saw her take a step forward. He raised his hand and motioned her to stop.
He could feel the blood within him burn in thirst at her every step, voice and smell…
But it wasn't like before.
This time, he wanted her blood. His body was craving for her blood.
He opened his mouth in difficulty and uttered, "S-Stay away, S-Skyla"
He closed his eyes in agony as he clenched his hand. Nails pierced his skin making him stay sane for a couple of seconds more.
'Blood….Blood... Kill her'
He could hear those words fill his mind slowly driving him insane. He looked at the girl he loved watching him with fear and concern in her eyes.
He turned his head away from her and said softly, trying his maximum to control the desire burning within her.
"Go, Skyla…"
Skyla bit her lips as she said, "But-"
He cut her off and demanded, "Go before I turn into a monster and kill you"
Her body froze as her eyes stared at the broad back of the guy she liked in front of her. She saw his veins protrude on his arms indicating how hard the current situation was for him.
Skyla furrowed her brows and took some steps towards Daniel. She was guilty that all of this happened because of her. If only she hadn't stayed… hadn't waited for him, maybe things could have gone differently.
Right before she touched his shoulder, she saw him cry out in pain as his body twitched hard. He fell on his knees with his fists hitting the ground. Drops of sweat fell around him as he hyperventilated.
His eyes grew blood red and his canines grew out turning his handsome face into a menacing monster. Raising his fist, he slammed it against the ground before he let out a bloodcurdling snarl startling Skyla.
Her heart leaped out of her chest when she saw him turn around and growl menacingly. The small part of sanity in him had already vanished within him, burying all the feelings and love he held for her.
Right now, standing before her was the monster craving for her blood making her heart collapse.
'Ah, it's the end', her mind whispered before his long shadow toppled her on the ground.
She groaned in pain before a snarl above her attracted her attention. Whipping her head around, she looked into those blood red eyes with his canines out in the open.
If earlier, those red eyes held some pain and grief this time it has totally eradicated those feelings replacing them with hunger.
Hunger for her blood.
Her mind accelerated at this fact that she began to struggle beneath him. But his body was so heavy on her that she felt like she was shoving a stone away. She felt hard to breath with his body crushing her underneath.
"G-Get O-Off!!" she huffed as she shoved him with her full strength.
Two pale hands immediately grasped her small hands in a tight grip. Her body chilled when she saw him open his mouth to bite her. Gritting her teeth, Skyla propped her knee up making the monster above her groan.
Immediately she pushed him away and scrambled towards the door in a hurry.
But before she could take a step, a hand held onto her ankle and pulled her, making her scream as she fell.
Skyla groaned before she turned around to look at the monster who was holding his abdomen in pain. Biting her lips, she stood up with difficulty as her body screamed in pain.
Even though she was struggling with her movements, her eyes were focused on the monster. So, she reacted quickly when she saw him getting on his feet.
Skyla immediately grabbed hold of the chair near her and slammed it against his head. But to her horror, she heard him snarl loudly before the chair broke into pieces. He was standing there unfazed by her attack as his eyes solely gazed at her hungrily.
She yelped as she threw away the remains of the chair and ran towards the door. But before she could reach the door, a blow landed against her chest making all the air deplete from her lungs.
Skyla coughed violently as she slammed into the tables in the room. Before she could process her thoughts, she felt a powerful grip on her hair making her scream out loud.
Tears escaped her eyes as the pain hit her nerves. Skyla flapped her hands around, searching for an object but failed miserably. She let out a groan when he slammed her head against the wall hard.
Skyla groaned in pain as she felt something trickle down her forehead. The pain made her burst into tears as her vision blurred in front of her. Slowly an image overlapped in her mind, like the shadow in her nightmare making her eyes widen in fear.
But standing before her was Daniel and not the guy in her nightmares making her heart calm a little.
Before she could relax completely, she saw Daniel stretch his hand and hold her neck in a crushing grip.
"D-Daniel" she croaked.
'Was this her end?'
