Chapter 3: MESRIAM
Earth had seriously changed. It had been 7 long years, but to me it only had been seven weeks. Time really does move differently in space. One year on mercury was merely 88 days on earth. There were tall, majestically built skyscrapers way above the clouds. Buildings that were made of glass and metal with long veins of trees wrapped around several buildings. Gardens the size of forest with big oak and apple trees where on top of the roofs. Samantha gently cruised down the clouds and around the buildings avoiding the birds that were flying around. she went even further below the clouds and what I saw shocked me. Unlike the futuristic buildings that were above the clouds there was a wasteland that was full of trash.
There was trash as far as The eye could see. could see. I was expecting something like this, but even this was too much. Of course, the rich would obviously monopolise everything for themselves, Leaving nothing for the poor people. With my enhanced vision I could see several trees that were growing in all that waste.
"Oh my..."
Mace was shocked by this even more than I was. The green scenery below the futuristic empire above the clouds had been destroyed. It was now filled with oil, human waste, scrap metal and lots of other unwanted products. I remember eighty years ago countries around the earth came together to solve the problem of the nearly destroyed ozone layer. They wanted to use the alien technology They had managed to salvage what was left of the ozone layer and managed to save it. There solution was simple ,They planted over seven billion trees in each country and the cutting of trees was banned in one hundred and ninety five countries out of all two hundred and five countries.
Animals other than livestock were let out into the wild so that they could reproduce and multiply to help the environment. This caused lots of people to become jobless and large companies to suffer huge losses. Over 6200 species were released into the wild but before they could they went through a special programme to help them become adjusted to the wild. The gas emissions of vehicles were stopped due ban of all vehicles that used gas, petrol or diesel. Ninety percent of all car owners changed to an electric or solar powered car and all other cars were confiscated.
After sixty long years it had paid. World hunger went down all the way from seventy six percent to twenty percent but that was still a lot with the population of being sixteen billion people on earth. The Saharan desert and lots of earth deserts including the Namibian desert had become major cities that were bustling with life and turned into important trading countries in the world.
The beautiful green scenery had become a nightmare. With my enhanced vision I could see people walking knee deep in the mixture of water, oil and faeces. There were small cities made from metal on top of garbage's.
"Fun fact the available fresh water in the world changed from three percent to ten percent." Samantha said. "But people suffer from droughts because the water is monopolized by the sky-livers"
"Sky-livers? What was that? Some kind of animal?" I thought to myself. Samantha saw Akira's confused look and explained. "The people who live in the tall skyscrapers. I went on earths internet and found out. That is what the people call them."
According to Samantha there were only ten countries were there were sky-livers. Namely : Russia, America, China, Nigeria, India, Italy, France, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and Australia. The similarity between these countries was that they had a high economy, natural resources or they were the country's with the most population. The public did not know anything about the alien technology before it was too late to do anything. The rich and powerful had retreated to behind the clouds. They had been told that the technology was a result of decades of research and that it was to be used for the betterment of humanity. Countries built skyscrapers the size of small of villages. A big mansion on top of the skyscrapers cost on average fifty million maks. The Sky-livers had their own form of currency. The public only found out thirty years later but it was to late, the sky-livers made their own country above the clouds safe from any attack.
I walked towards the far end of the room and picked up the couch that was upside down. I picked it up, turned it and laid down on it. Humans were truly stupid. As Samantha continued to explain what had been happening in the seven weeks we were away Jasmine and Mace started fixing the mess that was made. Mace sat down and used her telekinetic abilities to clean and pick up all the stuff that had been broken.
Jasmine gave up in the middle of it after she realised she looked stupid with Mace using her ability to clean.
"They had been planning this ever since the alien arrived. Everything they did was so that they could monopolise everything and live in tall skyscrapers."
As she bumbled on talking about these sky-livers I realised we were slowing down and landing. I jumped out of the couch to see where we were . I looked outside and saw that everything was completely different than what we just saw. We were hovering one kilometre above the ground of a city full with life. People continued with their business as they could not see us in stealth mode.
This city was something else. There was a large road and on each side of the road there were trees planted at an interval of ten metre. There were hover taxis, and tall buildings and large houses. Some houses were made from what seemed like gold while others were made from reflective glass.
"Where are we?" I asked Samantha
"The city of riches, Mesriam" she replied. "You asked me to drop you of first, did you not?"
This was beyond belief I had travelled the Galaxy and went to different planets but I had never seen a city with buildings made of gold. Statues were made diamond and I could see some trees with golden apples. The other planets I had visited had futuristic technology. The first time I had visited Small meteor I was bewildered. Just as the name said it was a city on a small meteorite. There were three buildings on top of each other. One building was floating on top of another while another was floating on top of the second. The small meteorite was a hangout for criminals. The scum of the universe went there when they needed to hide from the galactic military or to relax and repair their ships. They also came to get supplies and do shady deals.
Mesriam was not that big of a deal but considering how I had been stuck on a spaceship for two weeks it was a breath of fresh air. "you can jump on to that building." Samantha said as she pointed towards a tall building. The building was four hundred meters tall and quite far away from the ship.
"I will get closer so that you can jump of. I also talked with the employer and he is expecting you. You already have the address."
As Samantha got closer to the building the door opened and I jumped of landing on my feet. I watched as I the faint outline of Samantha go up and disappear.
"Oh my GAWDDD!!!!"
I turned around and saw a couple who were looking at me in disbelief. A young man who appeared to be around 22 years old with tanned skin and ponytail. He was wearing a turban and what appeared to be some kind of clothes for rich people. The girl who had been sitting on the mans lap jumped of his lap and threw away the cigarette she was smoking. She stormed towards me and pointed her finger at me and poked me in the chest while asking me questions.
"Why are you following me? Did my father send you? If you say a single word-"
I slapped her finger away from me and I looked at her while expressing my disgust at her.
"Listen here you little dickhead, I will slap the utter shit out of you and your ugly ass boyfriend. I do not know who you are, where you are from or what you were doing. I also do not care so do not involve me in your bullshit."
The young woman was shocked at how I spoke to her. I could see her shocked face before it turned into seething rage. She raised her hand to slap me while shouting : "Do you even know who I am?"
"I'm guessing probably a brat but seeing as how you were making out with that ugly bastard I would say a bitch with no standards."
I blocked her slap with my hand and I tried hitting her with the back of my hand but it was stopped.
I looked to see who was holding my hand and it was the man who was with her.
"You can say what you want about me or hit me but I will not let anyone talk rudely or harm her in anyway."
oh for fuck's sake why did I have to meet a down bad simp right when I just got back on earth.
"Looks like I'm gonna have to teach you a lesson." I said in a menacing voice.
