Chapter 3: Beginning (1.3)

I look at the portal in front of me and take a deep breath. Right now, I'm in front of a portal to the dungeon near my house. The location of the portal is behind an empty building seventy meters to the west of my house.

When I arrived in front of the dungeon location, I could see a portal appear out of thin air.

Anyway, I walked into the portal, and suddenly the world changed.

Congratulations! You visit your first dungeon!

Dungeon is where the player can hunt some monsters, get loot and even get new skills.

While a dungeon looked like another world, it was not. You are currently inside a pocket dimension. Each dungeon is of a different size. Some of them are smaller, some of them bigger. Inside all dungeons, there is a Boss tower. You can see it even from far away.

You can only use each dungeon for a maximum of 48 hours. While inside the dungeon, the time outside will be stopped, so don't worry about getting late for work.

After you get out of the dungeon or your time is up, you need to wait for 24 hours before you can use the dungeon once again.

BEWARE! You will die in real life if you die in the dungeon.

Have Fun!

After the notification disappears, I see a bleak world in front of me. The beautiful and colorful world I used to see changed into a grey world filled with destroyed buildings and vehicles. However, what makes me disturbed is the one that is roaming the land.

I can see their name, level, and HP bar.

|Feral Ghoul| |Level: 1| |HP: 400/400|

Feral Ghoul is a former human but because of the radiation from the Nuclear Weapon. The radiation is strong enough to make them mad, and the mutation makes them carve for the flesh of the living. They are not zombies, but they have the same behavior.

There is five Feral Ghoul not too far away from me. It Looks like they cannot see me, which is good. I think I cannot take them out all at once, even with my bow skills. The base attack of the arrow is 10 + 50% of my STR (4.5), meaning my basic attack will cause 14.5 damage. That is before I add the 2% of bonus damage from my passive skill.

If I use my Twin Shot, I will get 14.5 + 90% of my DEX (8.1) per arrow. 45.2 damage cannot kill the Ghoul in a single shoot. Lucky for me, my MP is big enough for me to spam my Twin Shot. I can use my skill every three seconds. Meaning that I can kill the zombie after I use the skill nine times.

I can kill two of them no problem but five of them? I cannot do that. Meaning that I need to search for other prey for me to hunt. I walk away slowly from where I'm from. I walk to the west.

After walking for about twenty seconds, I encountered my prey. It was an alone ghoul roaming the street aimlessly. I take out my bow from the inventory, equip the quiver filled with arrows and aim my bow at the lone ghoul.

A second later, I fire the arrow toward the Ghoul and see it right in the head.

Critical Hit!

It looks like there is a critical hit. Before the Ghoul could see me, I activated my skill.

"Twin Shot!"

After I invoke the name of my skill, my body moves on its own and shoots two arrows in less than a second. Both arrows hit their target. The first one hit the head while the second one hit the neck of the Ghoul.

The Ghoul shrieks in pain before it begins to charge toward me. I fire another two arrows that hit the Ghoul head before I begin to activate my skills. Another two arrows hit the Ghoul's head. Seeing the HP bar, I know that the Ghoul is almost dead. I fire another arrow toward the Ghoul that hits its head once again before I begin to run away from the incoming Ghoul.

Each time I can use my skill, I activate it and shoot the Ghoul.

It took another few seconds before I could kill the Ghoul with my bow and arrow.

You killed a Feral Ghoul

You get 1 XP, 1 Class XP, and 10 ST

One XP?!? Seriously?!? I need a few seconds of running and shooting to kill that one Ghoul, and I only get one XP?!? Urgh. At least I get a Shop Token. For now, I need to search for another lone Ghoul. I need a lot of them to level up.

~Five Hours Later~

Name: Himura Tanaka

HP: 32/90

MP: 2200/2200

Age: 16

|Level: 1| |22/1000|

|Class: Archer| |Level: 1 (22/100)|

STR: 12

VIT: 9

DEX: 13

INT: 120

WIS: 220

LCK: 10

SP: 5

I look at my status while eating an Egg and Tuna sandwich inside one of the buildings. Right now, I'm inside one of the still-standing buildings taking a break after a few hours of non-stop fighting.

Twenty-two Ghoul in a few hours. That sounds small, but to me, it was a tough fight. Continuous running around the place while shooting the enemy behind you is a hard task. Even after I decide to pick a lone Ghoul, there is one or two Ghoul around the corner ready to ambush me.

I have already experienced two ambushes. If not for the potions I bought, I should be dead by now. So yeah, between searching for lone Ghoul and doing a hit and run tactic, twenty-two Ghoul is a high number for me.

Anyway, I've decided to take a break inside one of the buildings that are still intact right now. Well, mostly intact as there are many holes on the wall, and only half the roof is still intact.

I eat the last sandwich and get up from the rock where I sit and pick up my bow once again.

From my hunt, I know when the Ghoul spawns. They spawn every one hour, and their spawn location is the exact place where I find them. I don't know if there will be a roaming monster, but I will exploit the Ghoul that spawns here for now.

I aim my bow at the location where the nearest zombie will spawn and aim where its head should be located. When the Ghoul appeared out of thin air, I released my arrow, and it hit the Ghoul right in the head. After firing the first arrow, I activate my Twin Shot skill.

I continue to shoot the Ghoul that is running toward my location. My current attack range is thirty meters. With the current speed of the Ghoul, it will reach me in five seconds. However, by shooting one of its legs…

*SPLURT*

I can make them go slower, and if I shoot the other leg…

*SPLURT*

I get myself a slow-moving prey.

Unlike in games where you need a special effect weapon or item to immobilize your enemy, I don't need to do that here. While my reality is based on games, it also has a real-world influence. Like you know, you will get slow if someone shoots your legs.

I ignore the notification in the corner of my vision. Oh, that is another thing I'm really grateful for. As long as I'm in combat mode, the notification will not appear in front of me, but rather it will appear in the corner of my vision.

Anyway, I walk toward the other Ghoul location with my bow in hand. I go hunting once again.
