Chapter 31: Assassin Incoming!
Feng Hei Lang yawned as she awoke from the bed in the inn. It was rough, but she still managed to get a good night's sleep. 'Ah! Today, we should be able to start hunting the wolf! I wonder if Kang Lei and Kirei are awake yet!'
She got out of bed and neatly organized her messy clothes. Then, she exited her room and knocked on Kang Lei and Kirei's door. "Morning! Are you two awake yet?"
A scuffle could be heard from inside the room, then some crashing. Kang Lei's voice could be heard. "You dare throw that pillow at me?! Take this you Gold-Rank scum!" A crash could be heard after that.
Feng Hei Lang flinched and pushed the door open. "Is everything okay-" She saw a dripping wet Kirei with a Kang Lei covered in feathers all over the floor. She gaped at them. "Don't tell me you two were fighting in here..."
Kang Lei crossed his arms. "Hmpf! He hit me in the head with a pillow first and it exploded all over me!"
Kirei frowned. "It was an accident...you threw a water jug all over me."
Feng Hei Lang sighed and facepalmed. "Both of you, just go clean up! You've made a mess in here, I don't want to pay extra fees for clean-up." She closed the door behind her and went back to her room to wait for them. She quickly pulled out her stat windows.

Feng Hei Lang almost choked on air when she saw that. 'Are you FLIPPIN' SERIOUS?! !@@#^$!&' A stream of swears flower through her mind. 'Death of a party member? That would probably mean Kang Lei or Kirei! And a time limit of one week?! Who the hell is after us anyways! We were hiding pretty well, I think! Anyways, I have to stay in Fengli city!'
She stood up from the bed and started pacing around. "Okay okay...Calm down Hei Lang. You know that they aren't going to make an action in one week, so you just have to find them before then. They are after one of my party members, but I don't know who! Kang Lei is part of the four great families, but so is Kirei! However, Kirei is well-hidden within the Royal Fox Clan, especially with the fact that he only came to light a year ago. They are probably after Kang Lei then!"
Feng Hei Lang knocked on their room once more. 'I need to take precautionary measures! I will not let them out of my sight for now!' No one answered, so she knocked once more. "Kang Lei? Kirei? I'm coming in."
She pushed the door open to see an empty room with no one inside. The window was open with a bit of breeze filling the room. She anxiously looked around. 'Shit! Was I too late? But the time limit is one week! That doesn't mean the assassin can't capture them ahead of time!'
A hand was placed on her shoulder from behind her, and she jumped. Instantly, she formed a blade using [Shadow Manipulation] and pointed it at whoever was behind her.
Kang Lei held up his hands. "Woah! Hei Lang, watch where you're pointing this at!" She dispersed the sword and frowned. "Sorry, but where did you go? I was worried!"
Kirei held up a plate from behind her. "When you were in your room, we picked up breakfast from downstairs. I think we should go to hunt the wolf after eating."
Feng Hei Lang shook her head. "I think we should stay in Fengli city for a week. I have some artifacts in some shops that I would like to look at." She tightened her fist for a second there. 'Please believe it! I need to stay in Fengli city!'
He tilted his head for a second, but then nodded. "We could. I spotted a dagger that I had my eyes on too."
Kang Lei grinned and took the plate of food from Kirei's hands. "Anyways, go and eat Hei Lang! We can browse the shops afterwards!"
She picked up a fork and stabbed the pancake on the plate. She took a big bite and the flavor of syrup exploded in her mouth. Feng Hei Lang let out a satisfying noise. "Mmm! So good..." She quickly finished it and stood up. "Alright! Time to head out shopping!" Feng Hei Lang placed the plate down. 'And to look for the assassin...'
