Chapter 31: Night Raid
When Akira first built their house it made a loud sound that could be heard through the entire forest.
While on Night Raid's hideout, every one of them was thinking if it was an enemy. They didn't investigate it because they thought It was just a monster until the dead of night they all heard it again. The woman inside opened their eyes with nothing but murder in them as they felt like killing whoever was up there making that racket.
With that in mind, Najenda, the leader of the group told them to take care of it, and went back to sleep. While some of them didn't want to bother with it as they went back to their rooms, the pink-haired sniper and the blonde thief Leone were all out for blood while following them was the dark-haired assassin Akame just in case.
When they arrived they saw a beautiful house they have never seen before and who would think of living here. So to be cautious they went back to their hideout and explained it to their boss in the morning.
As morning rose, Najenda called out to everyone since she was still curious who the one was making all that noise.
Though as Leone, Mine, and Akame recounted everything that happened there, all of them couldn't help but feel wariness towards that house.
And Mine never felt her Teigu, the Romsan Artillary; Pupmkin, so full, it was practically about to explode if she didn't get out of there.
With their experience on account, Najenda decided for all of them to visit that house as soon as possible.
So with that in mind, she gathered all of the members currently and made their way towards that house.
After walking for quite a while they came across two girls who seemed to be taking a stroll. Najenda and the group couldn't allow anyone to know where their hideout was if they knew who they were so they couldn't take any chances.
*Toga and Eri Pov*
We were walking through the forest while admiring the scenery and although we ran into some beast, they were nothing for Kumara who burned them to cinders.
After a while of walking, we came across a group that seemed to be the one's big brother was talking about. They act like their doing it for the greater good but don't think about the consequences.
The woman at the front with a robotic arm and an eyepatch walked forward before talking " Hello there, do you two know who we are?" she asked.
" Big Brother said they are night raid right? She's going to try to kill me and Eri if we know who they are and where their base is, but big brother said that he wanted me to test out my powers on them as well so i guess its fine" thought Toga while looking at the group.
She looked at them indifferent while holding Eri by her hand. Eri also knew who they were and was ready to order Kumara to fight them but Toga looked at her and smiled before looking back at them. Night Raid who saw the exchange between them was a little confused but let it pass.
" Ye i know who you are, Night Raid right?" Toga said indifferently. Najenda then sighed in her head and said " Since you know where our secret base is, we can't let you go so will you join us or not".
" No, i won't join you, but you won't kill me or my sister either" Toga said. But she then continued " Remember i wasn't looking for a fight, so if one of you dies by me don't be angry at me for protecting myself". Toga also heard these guys were hypocrites from Akira and their mindset is just if it saves millions to kill a couple, its perfectly okay.
Toga then used her new phoenix powers and flames began to appear around her clothes but Eri wasn't getting burned at all since Toga could control who she wanted to hurt with her flames or not.
Night Raid was surprised by the flames and went into a battle stance. " What kind of Teigu does she have?" thought Najenda.
Night Raid immediately surrounded Toga and Eri while holding onto their Teigu's. In front of Toga were two males in the group. One was a tall muscular man with blue eyes and a black heart shaped pompadour, Bulat, while the other was a young man with shoulder length green hair that covers his left eye, green eyes, and red goggles on top of his head, Lubbock. Behind them were Najenda and Mine who were already aiming their weapons at her.
Toga smiled and said " Just a heads up, if you do manage to hurt us, it will be the biggest mistake you've ever made".
Najenda narrowed her eyes thinking that they might just be from some rich family and didn't bother with it any longer.
Behind Lubbock was the purple haired woman, Sheele, while on his right were Akane and Leone. All of them were in their battle stance while Toga and Eri still remained calm.
A tense silence prevailed in the area for a moment, then Mine started it as she aimed and fired at Toga's head before anyone could react.
Akame gripped her Teigu: Murasame, a cursed katana with deadly poisons. On her side she looked at Toga's unmoving figure with Mine's attack headed straight at her head.
Mine smiled confidently when she saw Toga but at the last moment her attack was about to hit her, the bullet burned to nothing in front of Toga.
Night Raid was shocked and couldn't follow what just happened " Even if it is fire from her Teigu, it shoudln't be able to burn the bullet from Pumpkin so fast" Najenda thought in her head.
With that, all of them grew serious as Leone, Sheele, and Bulat charged forward in a pincer attack while Lubbock spread his wire based Teigu, Infinite Uses: Cross Tail, all over the area as he prepared to attack Toga.
Mine shook her head to focus and aimed again at her as she charged her Pumpkin while Akame and Najenda watched in trepidation. Both of them felt something was very wrong ever since her flames appeared.
Leone was the fastest as her hands turned to claws and swung her right fist at her head while Sheele used her Teigu to try and cut her on her midsection. Bulat took a throwing stance to fire his spear at her at a moment's notice.
All of them thought that it would be overkill at this point and thought about the little girl next to her but sadly that quickly changed when the fire moved from Toga.
Just as Leon's fist was about to connect to her head, Leone's hand burned instantly and her entire hand was gone just like that. Before she could even think, Toga kicked her in her midsection sending her flying away into a tree, knocking her out.
Toga then outstretched both of her arms on both sides just in time to catch the scissor blades and burned them to cinders.
Sheele grew shocked at this but before she could even collect her thoughts, Toga casually back kicked her in her stomach. She tried to hold her ground but the force of Toga's kick sent her flying. She immediately fainted in the air while she was still flying towards a tree.
Bulat, seeing Toga's outstretched leg, immediately threw his spear aimed at Toga's heart looking to end this fast but again, he grew speechless when the spear turned into nothingness when it came into contact with Toga.
Toga then threw a flame spear back at them. Bulat and Lubbock widened their eyes at this but just as Toga's flame spear was about to hit Lubbock, they evaded just barely while it graized some of their skin.
Lubbock's legs wobbled as his back was covered with cold sweat. He knew if he didn't manage to dodge that flame spear, he would be dead. But as he looked back at Toga, he saw Bulat was now charging at her.
Lubbock tried to warn Bulat though he was a bit too late when Bulat drew back his right arm and intended to punch Toga but before he could even touch her, Toga kicked him sending Bulat flying in Lubbock's direction.
*Bam* *Thud*
Both of them fell into the ground as Bulat groaned in pain but otherwise alright while Lubbock was instantly knocked out.
Toga brought down her leg then held out her arm just in time to cath Leone from falling.
Akame, Mine and Najenda became slack jawed when they saw her take out most of their members within a matter of seconds. They all thought if Toga was actually with the Empire then the Rebel Army's days were numbered but if she was on their side, then they could finally take on the Empire.
As this revelation hit them, Akame, Najenda and Mine brought down their weapons.
" Take them...we have to go now," Toga commented calmly as she placed the knocked out Leone and turned around with Eri.
" Wait!...where are you going?" Mine hesitantly asked.
Toga turned around calmy and said " To the one who i said if you hurt me it will be the biggest mistake you'll ever make".
Akame, Najenda and Mine all unconsciously gulped since they knew that it was true. By now every one of them felt numb as they watched the leaving two figures.
As soon as they disappeared, all of them let out their breaths they were unconsciously holding while they quickly tended to the wounded.
Sheele, Leone, and Lubbock were the only ones who were knocked out, Leone being severely injured while Bulat still felt pain on his chest but he pushed through, unlike Lubbock. They lifted the three to go back to their hideout but before they went, they all couldn't help but look back at where the two figures left.
