Chapter 5: Chapter 5: A New Explosive Member
Subaru, Kazuma and Aqua were sitting at one of the tables of the adventurer's guild thinking of a way to complete the toad killing quest. Kazuma then gave a suggestion.
"Why don't we get more party members?"
"That's true! I know some people so may-!"
"Sorry not happening."
"Huh?! But I thought you said that maybe I could join your party…"
Subaru was talking to Rudy's party and asking if they could teams up but it wasn't going as planned.
"Sorry, we're going to be heading out for awhile so it would be dangerous if you joined up with us. You're current party will do, just get through it nice and slow. That's how all of us did it."
Rudy smiled softly as he got up and waved goodbye to Subaru. He headed back to the table with the others utterly defeated.
"My plan failed."
"Guess we'll just put up a post saying we need a party member or two. I'm sure someone will come along eventually."
Kazuma just kind of shrugged off the problem at hand and waited for people to join. They put up a notice saying how they were looking for new members but no one seemed to be coming. Other adventuring parties were getting interviews left and right while our gang of weirdos stayed sitting at a table. Subaru was about to fall asleep before he heard a girl's voice to the side of him.
"I saw the notice seeking adventurers of advanced class. Is this the right place?"
To the side of him was a girl who he recognized instantly as the person Yunyun stated as her rival. She wore red colored clothing, had red eyes, with one eye that was being covered by an eyepatch and somewhat long brown hair.
'Is this my chance to find Yunyun?'
"I am Megumin! l am of the occupation Arch-wizard
who wields the most powerful of all offensive magics, Explosion!"
Subaru and Kazuma looked at each other before looking back at her. Subaru didn't say anything since he didn't want to be rude but Kazuma appeared to not care.
"….Are you messing with us?"
"I-I am not!"
"…That red eye…Are you one of the Crimson Magic Clan?"
The girl nodded at Aqua's question and passed her Adventurer's Card to Aqua.
"Indeed I am! I am Megumin, first among the spell-casters of the Crimson Magic Clan! My ultimate magic can level mountains and shatter stone...!
Y-You don't happen to need an exceptional magic user, do you? And if you will pardon my asking, could you give me something to eat before we start the interview? I haven't had a bite to eat in three
days..."
Subaru pushed a plate of food towards her and she began eating faster then he'd ever seen someone eat before.
"So, Aqua? What does being part of the crimson magic clan mean?"
"These kids, the Crimson Magic Clan, are born with exceptionally high Intelligence and Magic, making it easy for them to become expert spell-casters. They're distinguished by their red eyes, which give
them their name and...Well, their weird personal names."
"So I guess we'll take her then, wouldn't hurt to have a wizard in our party."
"That's true." Kazuma budded into the conversation. "If she's an explosion user that means we should be able to wipe out large areas of enemies easily." Kazuma turned to Megumin again. "Out of curiosity, what were your parents' names?"
"My mother is Yuiyui. May father is Hyoizaburou!"
"Hm…"
"Hey! If you have something to say about my parents' names, let us hear it!"
"Anyway, I'm Kazuma, this is Aqua and he's Subaru. Welcome aboard this tragic ship, Arch-Wizard."
A new party member had been gained and this meant they now had a chance of clearing the toad killing quest!
