Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Queen’s menace
Mia was infuriated.
This ghost of a man, was like a prick in her flesh.
"My beautiful Queen Mia. I am Zachariah, the Lord of Zapareth."
"Who?" Mia said, feigning ignorance. She had no patience for such an obnoxious man.
"I heard you are looking for a husband," Zachariah continued his speech.
"I am the most accomplished warlock of the century. I have accumulated great wealth and by all means, very available and very handsome." He smiled at the mention of his attractive physique.
"I am the best candidate for a husband, as far as I know." There was an overwhelming confidence in his voice.
"So accomplished and attractive that you don't even have the decency to turn up, but send a ghost of yourself. You just look green and translucent rather than handsome and attractive." Mia spoke in a calm and collected voice.
"It was all for the dramatic effect," Zachariah retorted. "Do you have any idea how difficult this magic is to conjure? I am the best in the land. That's why I can do it."
Mia's beautiful face stiffened with annoyance.
"I would like to ask you, nicely, to leave. Please bring your bats home too." It took all her self control to say that.
Zachariah let out a long hysterical laughter. It sounded like a combination of insanity yet condescending and flamboyant at the same time.
"Not until you make me King of Pradzia," he said.
Mia sighed.
She was wearing a long simple dress, adorned with small yellow flowers. She looked like a dainty flower fairy. Her crimson hair was tied neatly behind her.
Her blue eyes were placid. Then, the blueness in her eyes began to boil and turned the colour of a hot angry flame.
The knot on her hair fell apart, and her hair was a messy beauty. Its colour deepened and glowed.
Next, her face paled and glowed like a lantern. She stared at the ghost of Zachariah.
"Please go away." Her voice was shaky, and it took all her self control to keep it within her.
The green apparition was not backing down. He took another step closer, his hands wanted to touch her waist and his face closing in and leaning forward to kiss the Queen.
Now, her face glowed brightly and her eyes became a red that consumed her entire soul
"Go away!" Her voice bellowed. It was so powerful that all the bats scurried out of the castle in fear. It was so strong that Zachariah's apparition disappeared in an instant.
The Great Hall fell silent.
Queen Mia closed her eyes. It seemed like a flame within her had extinguished and drew the life out of her. Then, she turned pale and collapsed into the arms of Emily, who had rushed to her side.
Some of the suitors turned pale and their faces were painted with confusion.
The Guards came and started to send people away back into their rooms.
It was a sorry day.
