Chapter 4: A forced accomplice
After going to her house and waiting for Margaret and saying goodbye to her, Herminia and her parents, I got into the car and went straight home, I hid the novel.
Alejandro: Aha, I caught you, you're coming at a good time.
Casandra: eh, caught, how, *don't tell me Herminia or Margaret and they called, what do I do?*.
Alejandro: -raising an eyebrow- Do you want some flan?
When I heard that my face of *was that* was so obvious that I almost made a mistake again, I had to calm down to not be so obvious that I had gotten the novel and could read it, so I pretended I was going to go to the kitchen to get something delicious and said
Cassandra: what a clever father, typical detective, how did you know I would go to the kitchen?
Alejandro: because you look just like your mother.
Those words left me so thoughtful, but I preferred to eat the cookies and then go up to my bedroom to do my homework and then read the novel, when I got to my room I greeted Pecosa and her two babies named Tiger and Deseo.
Both names placed by my brother and me, Tiger is because it looks like a tiger small version and Desire because my brother when he was little said it more asleep than awake and it stayed that way.
I had read the prologue and I liked it, just when I started to read the first chapter the door of my room rang and like a scared cat I jumped up and hid the novel.
Ricardo: Casandra I'm coming in.
Casandra: *nervous* cla.... come in brother.
Ricardo: What's wrong with you, if I didn't know you well I'd say you were hiding something.
After looking at me he goes to the mini bookcase in my room and takes a book from it, I thought it was funny that he left it on the shelf if he was going to need it, but I remembered a very important detail in my brother, he always breaks down the notebooks he doesn't use and adds more information about the books he needs more.
When I remembered that I remained thoughtful and in a whisper I asked him if he was ever curious about the book of our ti to Esther, his look in that instant was so fixed that he said he knew he was hiding something under the pillow, obviously before asking I looked and saw that a part of it was still visible, he just sighed and told me that if once, but as he has been busy he has only postponed it.
I was astonished to know that, it meant that Claudia's explanation had not been a lie and it was true that my brother did want to read it, in a few words, the lie was not a lie at all, I told him firmly that I was going to read it because I felt it was important, also because our parents were hiding things from us.
According to mom I was leaving early from the Restaurant but coming home late, I didn't want to label mom, but it made me think many things and in them that I had a second job, but why hide it, why the insistence that we both learn defense since we were kids, what is going on or happened.
My brother just looked at me fixedly and said: stop thinking about nonsense, I also asked myself those questions years ago, now that I am an adult I don't have as many questions as you do... You haven't thought that they do it because they want to be calm, sometimes stirring up the past doesn't help at all.
Casandra: But, then why do they hide it.
Ricardo: because not everybody gets over the past in the same way, you will see that the doubts will have their answers in their time, although I wonder, did Mom become like you at that age?
Casandra: hey... I will still read it.
Even though he said those words, I felt that even my own brother knew something that I was still completely unaware of, after leaving me alone, I decide to read the novel in parts and avoid unnecessary scares.
