Chapter 11: The Scheme
Kenny asked such a bizarre question to Billy, but Billy was wide eyed and flustered, he wasn't confused about the question but surprised
At this point Kenny's mother Sarah asked him "Kenny! What is the meaning of this? Explain yourself"
Kenny's father just looked at him, Kenny answered "mother, father, this man attacked me last night when I was sleeping, luckily he didn't intend to kill me, he just wanted me to blame it on Billy here"
Sarah was silent and shocked as she digested what was said, of course John knew what he meant, even if Kenny forbid the guards from telling anyone John was the man of the house, of course he would know if his son was attacked, but he kept silent as to see how his son would react
Kenny continued "remember the attack in the city by the 3 pursuers? It wasn't targeting me but it was targeting Billy, the rumours about me not treating Billy well? Only a servant can spread such a rumour not the guest, that was the biggest give away and his mistake"
Billy just looked at him as Kenny continued "the attack last night, no outsider could possibly dare to enter my family compound and yet he entered my window? He even tried to bribe me with goods and make me hate you, but that didn't work out as I didn't give into the rage"
"he even offered me Billy's sister as mistress for a single skill? He thinks I'm a fool? Plus he vaguely mentioned your brother and when he did I could see he respected your brother more than the both of you at first glance, that was the giveaway"
Kenny looked at Billy and asked his straight "why are you here and why does your brother hate you"
John looked at his son in shock, 'so much had happened? How could he analyse all these clues to come up with such a conclusion?'
Sarah also looked at her son and wondered 'maybe I've treated him as a kid for far too long, maybe he's more mature than I thought'
Kenny was their first son they thought maybe all the genius kids are like this, it was them who were thinking of him as a kid
Billy digested everything that had happened, he stood up and bowed and said "sir John, madam Sarah and especially young master Kenny, I've brought you all unnecessary trouble and put Kenny's life in danger, it is my fault and I take full responsibility"
He hesitated for a while and straightened up and continued "in my family, my parents are only at the 2nd stage of mortal realm and with the position my family is in, they can only send one of us to the prestigious cultivation institute among the top 5 countries, so my father asked both me and my brother to both take the entrance exam and the one more qualified will attend and the other has to stay behind and look after the family"
Kenny thought about the cultivation institute, it was located in Astrodamas the top country and force in the eastern continent, anyone who had to join the institute had to take the test and if they fail, they could contribute a certain amount of funds to the institute to let the student enter, the price was quite pricy so it was understandable that Billy could afford to send only one to attend the institute
Billy continued "my brother is 2 years older than me but he is still at the 3rd stage of mortal realm while I'm at 2nd, but he has always been trying to drag me down and halt my progress as he fears I'll over take him. He's using all the resources he can to get stronger to attend the institute, and so I came here to try and cultivate in the Vayu breeze art as I'm comfortable with the wind element, my brother found out about this and wants to get rid of me as soon as he can"
"But if he does it himself, my parents will throw him out of the family so he doesn't dare try to, and so he must have planted one of his guys as my attendant and the rest you know"
Kenny heard all this and looked at his father, John looked furious, he got to his feet and shouted "I don't care what reasons you have, I'm going to skin your brother alive and feed him to the wild bests!!he dares to attack my son for his goal?! Does he think our family is a joke?!"
Kenny expected this and kept quiet for now, Sarah also started talking "I'm going to ask the barton family to remove your puny family as one of ours!! You messed with my son over some petty feud?!"
Billy was shocked and sweating profusely, he started kowtowing and begging not to do such a thing
John looked at Kenny and said "son, you're the one who uncovered this, tell me what you want to do, if you say yes I'll kill the whole family right this instant!"
Kenny was calm and said " there's no need for that mother and father, I have just the solution for them"
