Chapter 4: Chapter 4
"Son" Mrs. Adelaine just woke up and looked at his son who is still sleeping beside her while holding her hands. She caresses her son's hair with her other hands. Slowly Angelo raised his head and saw his smiling mother look at him.
"Mom you're awake! Wait I'll call dad. He's talking to your doctor right now." He immediately ran outside and called his dad. Furthermore, he came back and smiled to his mom.
" Do you need anything mom? You want water?" He asked. Her mother just nodded and smiled back.
He took a glass and filled it with water and give it to his mother. His mother mouthed thanks to him as she gave a glass back to his son.
They both turn around when they heard the door opened. It was his dad who went inside the room. His father was smiling looking at them, but there was concern and sadness on his face. Mr. Robert kissed his wife on her forehead.
"How are you feeling?" He asked
"I'm feeling better." His mother said.
"Son, we need to go to US as soon as possible. Your mom needs treatment. And the US has a high technology hospital that can cure a cancer patient." Michael was shocked with what his father said. He didn't notice tears dripping down to his face. He looked at his mother, who gave him a bitter smile. Furthermore, he immediately gave his mother a tight hug. After a few minutes, he looked at his father who is now silently crying.
"Dad, if that's the best way to cure mom, then so be it." he said with finality.
"You should go home son and pack your things then take a little rest. Tomorrow we will fly to the US. I'll ask my secretary to take care of your school papers. So you could transfer to the US." His dad said. He nodded and do what his father said.
He even forgot to tell it to Athena. And he didn't bother to call the girl. All he could think right now is his mother's condition, he didn't want to lose his mother. They will do everything to get his mother to cure.

Eight o'clock in the morning when they arrived at the airport.
"I will only take you to the US and once you settle there I will return here to the Philippines. I can't let go of our business. You will take care of your mother there son." His father said he just nodded and didn't utter a single word. He is thinking about Athena.
His father seems to understand why she is silent.
"Don't worry about her son, I will talk to them. And you are still her fiancé." He smiled.
After several hours, the airplane landed at the US airport. They immediately went straight to the hospital.
Mrs. Adelaine, take a series of tests and admitted to the hospital.
His father rent a condo near the hospital. And they went to the nearest school. Michael transferred there, and he started his first day next week. When they head back to the hospital where his mother is admitted, they got the result and as what they expected, the result was the same as to what the doctor in the Philippines said. But being the number one hospital in the whole wide world, Mrs Smith has the chance to recover fast. She will undergo chemo therapy and treatments for about a year or two depending on how her body receives the medicine. Michael Angelo decided to stay in US and finish his studies until he graduated from in college and to what his father said, Mr. Robert to go back to the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Athena is wondering why Michael didn't go to school, and it's been a week! She's bothered because the last time they talk was they argue, and she knows that Michael was hurt. ' I'm hurt too...' she thought. She admitted that she misses her friend.
When she got home from school, she was a bit startled when she saw Mr. Robert Smith.
"Good evening Mr. Robert, What can I do for you?" She looked around looking for his friend. " Where is Gelo anyway? He didn't go to school for a week, is he-- is he sick?" She asked worriedly. Mr Robert smiled weakly and shook his head.
"He is in the US." Athena's eyes widened.
"W-why? Is he m-mad at me?" Again, Mr. Robert shook his head, and she felt relieved.
"It's my wife, Adelaine. She needs to be treated there. Adelaine is diagnosed a four stage cancer. US has the best hospital, so we decided to bring her there, and Michael will be the to take care of her while studying there. While me, I will stay here for our business. But don't worry about him, he is fine. They'll be back as soon her mother is completely healed." He reassured.
She just nodded an excuse herself when her parents arrived.
The elders talked about Mrs Smith's condition and business.
As she headed to her room, she immediately check her social media account hoping that Michael will message her. But to her dismay, she didn't even receive a single one from her friend. She shrugged and dive in to her queen-sized bed. Little did she know, she fell asleep.

Michael Angelo, on the other hand is busy taking care of his ailing mother and studying. He is to focus and busy to forget his friend, Athena who's waiting for him. When he graduated from high school, someone offered him to enter as an agent. He started training even though it was very difficult, he accepted it. His parents didn't know what he had entered. And he has no intentions on telling it, because he doesn't want his parents to be in danger.
Due to his training, his body shaped. The former fat nerd boy has become a muscular and handsome one. He no longer wears glasses, he just uses them as props. His personality serves as two, being a cold-hearted agent, and a loving nerd son.
While his at his second year in college, Mrs. Adelaine was completely healed, and she decided to go back to the Philippines, while Michael Angelo stay and decided to finish his studies in US. And he also got his first assignment as an agent.
"Mom I promise, I'll be back in the Philippines once I finish my studies here. And as promise, I'll marry her. " He said.
" Okay son, but do you want me to accompany you? I'll stay if you want to." His mother said. He shook his head.
" I'll be fine here mom. Don't worry about me. Besides, didn't you miss dad?" He grinned.
Mrs. Adelaine bid his goodbye and headed to the airport.
It's all for your safety mom. He thought.
