Chapter 57: School Year End

Paul soon recovered from the sad ordeal as he regained a new vigor in studying his doctor studies and gave more importance to it. Time passed by quickly as the red head focused on his studies and his pokemons; imperceptibly, the semestral break was over.

The quartet soon came back to their normal routine, as they found out the rank of each one of their classmates through their adviser who announced the rankings.

"As I announce each of your rankings, I hope you will have a positive mindset. For those whose ranks lowered, I hope you take this second semester as a time for improvement. On the other hand, for those whose rank stayed the same or rose, I hope you will take this as an incentive for your hard work and won't keep the status quo. You can always aim and achieve better. Congratulations everyone though, keep up the good work." Mr. Figg once stated on the Adviser Time, first day after the semestral break.

The four were able to discover that Andrew David, the 2nd ranker, was able to maintain his rank. Page Olives who was the 5th ranker, on the other hand, was able to raise his rank by 1, becoming the 4th ranker. The 3rd ranker, Dolores Scott, was demoted to the 10th rank, which Paul hypothesizes to be due to the practicals.

Damon Thorn who was the 9th ranker, was promoted and became the 6th ranker. Meanwhile, Blaire Embers who had the 13th rank, became the 8th ranker. The 7th ranker was actually a shock too, which was similar to Jake's jump in rank. Rick Umber, past 18th ranker, had the 7th rank for the first semester. Also, Patty Pattinson eventually rose to the 11th rank from her former 14th rank.

Those mentioned above are those Paul took notice to be of importance. To be honest, while the rest below 11th rank have quite a good background, there weren't really people who stood out or someone of ability. Still, the red head made sure maintain good relationships with everyone, not only because of necessity and practicality, but also because it was the polite and nice thing to do. Also, it's not a bad thing to have many friends and connections anyways.

The class resumed their lessons right after, with the students being more used to the school classes and lessons. Paul, along with his friends, continued their study sessions and visits to Paul's house. Sometimes, they do also visit the other three's houses, but they mainly chose the Crimson Manor to be their after-school spot.

Noticeably, after a few days of classes right after the semestral break, Paul, at last, made progress with his classmates that disliked him. They somehow eventually accepted that Paul is younger than them but is smarter, and actually a nice person and a good classmate overall.

The sour and stiff atmosphere in the first-year classroom finally faded away, replaced by a jovial but studious one. Mr. Figg was really happy when he noticed that the class seemed to get along better than before.

A month and two weeks into the semester, the Ralts egg, after a long wait, was ready to be hatched. It actually happened quite quickly; luckily, the egg was in Paul's room when it hatched thus Paul was the first one Ralts saw when she came out of her shell.

She was quickly integrated into the Crimson Family after her two-week long baby period, which Ralts, at that time, was always sticking to Paul whenever she sleeps or feeds. It was quite an adorable memory for the red head, as he kept plenty of pictures too; the same as the times when he just got Eevee and Ditto. Though, he still takes pictures whenever they have the time as a memento for the events and memories.

Paul quickly communicated with the school for Ralts' permission on going to the Pokemon Trainers' School with him. Thankfully, there were no problems as the school was quite fast on processing his request. As Paul continued his routine of exercise, going to class, studying for professional tests, and training his pokemons, Ralts included, the second semester passed by swiftly

Within the semester, Jake's Cherubi finally evolved into a Cherrim whose favorite was to switch out into its overcast and sunshine form. Steven too, finally decided to let his Shiny Beldum evolve into a Metang. Amber, on the other hand, decided to wait a year more before she lets Happiny evolve into a Chansey. His other classmates' pokemons also evolved, while a few others having a new pokemon along with their first one.

After that, it was quickly the start of the second semester's exam, in which Paul's pokemons have visible improvements.

Paul noticed that as soon as Ditto entered the Expert Boundary, its leveling pace slowed down thus Eevee was able to catch up on the former's level. The latter was also able to learn two new moves, [Baton Pass] and [Take Down]. Ralts, on the other hand, quickly grew up and learnt her racial skills while gaining around 13 levels from the past three months, starting from being level 1.

The red head had decided to not let Ralts take a Pokemon Optimizer before she becomes a year old. He thinks it as a necessary precaution of intaking the optimizer at a young age as a pokemon.

As mentioned earlier, the second semester exams finally came upon the Pokemon Trainers' School. Like the first semester exams, the quartet reviewed at the Crimson Manor together as well.

This time, there weren't plenty of surprises as the mode of exams was similar to the prior semester, which only differed in the theoretical topics. The practical exams, on the other hand, was still in the same mode, but there were still some small differences.

The week right after the second semester exams week, the school invited all current students at the school and their respective parents for the Pokemon Trainers' School Annual Ranking Assembly and the Pokemon Trainers' School Festival Day right after the former.

The former is an event where teachers collate the grades and announce the rankings of each student in each year, while awarding the top 3 ranks of each class respectively. They not only give out trophies but also gives a good mark for the students' future credentials. The latter, on the other hand, is an annual event of the school wherein they invite alumni to orient and guide the current students of the Pokemon Trainers' School along with other performances and events.

This also includes the yearly Battle Team Recruitment of the school. Sadly, they only take in 3rd year students thus Paul and his friends wasn't qualified to join. Though, the Crimson Family heir discovered that the school has a representing Battle Team that competes with other schools from other regions in the Pokemon Alliance School Cup that existed for around 50 years already.

He was able to discover that the school was currently in the second rank for the highest number of Champions with 16 trophies. Meanwhile, the Celadon University located between Viridian City and Celadon City was presently in lead with 17 Championship Trophies. Violet Pokemon Academy, on the other hand, was in 3rd rank with 8 Championship Trophies. Jubilife Pokemon Academy in 4th rank with 5 Championship Trophies, and Striation University in 5th rank with 3 Championship Trophies. The 6th rank being the Santalune University with 1 Championship Trophy. The Alola Trainers' School was the current last school to join, and currently has no rank as it hasn't won any championships yet.

It was certainly an interesting event, in which Paul aims to join at his 3rd year. For now, Paul will stick on studying for the professional tests and train his pokemons stably.

At the Pokemon Trainers' School Annual Ranking Assembly, Paul was able to see few older students in the school. Shockingly, the red head saw Wallace, the future Master Coordinator, being a 4th year and the top 1 of the graduating class. He also heard that Wallace was currently the Pokemon Trainers' School Battle Team Captain and has a high chance of leading the team to win the championship in the upcoming Pokemon Alliance School cup in July.

This means that the school could finally tie with the Celadon University on the School Rankings if they will win. Thinking of the Future Master Coordinator and Hoenn Champion, Paul was positive that Wallace would win the Pokemon Alliance School Cup for the school.

Back to the Annual Ranking Assembly, it was with no surprise that Paul was the rank 1 of their class and was awarded with a quite large golden pokeball trophy with a placard of [1st Year Class Rank #1 – Paul Crimson] with a [Pokemon Trainers' School Batch 71] below it. The 2nd ranker was certainly Andrew David who was awarded with a smaller and silver version of Paul's trophy and Amber being awarded with a small bronze pokeball trophy as the 3rd ranker.

Their class rankings were basically the same with minimal changes. For the quartet, the only one who has a change in the final ranking was Jake, who became the 7th ranker, with Rick Umber and Blaire Ember downgrading one rank.

The whole school body had fun interacting with the school alumni while also watching the prepared and scheduled performances hired by the school for the Festival Day. The quartet was also able to witness the recruitment tests of the Battle Team, which was quite interesting.

The school year ended with a fun student-alumni-parent interaction which made a good end for the Pokemon Trainers' School. With promises of meeting each other soon while in vacation, the quartet parted ways, accompanied with their respective parents.

With Paul back on track on his profession studies and summer schedule, time quickly ticked away, and in a glimpse, more than a year had already passed by.
