Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Very Rough Actually
Slate was once again looking weirdly at Amethyst.
He, of course, joined her in her visit to Wright Park, which is around 15 minutes by foot.
And now, she had rode a horse around Wright Park circle before taking the Marlboro trail that was among the most famous tour on horse riding, it lasts about three hours.
And just like the first time, Amethyst seems to be on her own world again. After they entered Wright Park, she took a deep breath before the air around her have changed.
'Scarlet once said that they have this times, what was it called? Getting into character? If this person is really the person we think she is then I guess this is no longer shocking but as compared to Scarlet, she goes into character much deeply as if reality was not her true reality.'
With the last thought he couldn't help but shake his head because that thought was too absurd.
Amethyst snapped out of what she was doing after they have returned from the trail.
She closed ehr eyes for a bit before a small smile appeared on her lips, she got what she needed again.
When she turned she was once again shock to see Slate behind her.
Then she silently berated herself because she once again forgot that he was with her.
"The ride was fun, right?" she asked in an uncertain manner.
Slate stared at her for a bit before opening his mouth, "Are you hungry? It is just a little bit past one but it is already past lunch."
She blinked a few times, she had noticed this even back in Botanical Garden, she knew he noticed something was amiss but he didn't comment at all.
"If you are not, then I will go and have lunch myself," he then said turning around.
A restaurant was just across the road when you are in Wright Park.
"I... I am hungry," she run to him when he started walking away.
It is true, she was already hungry. Whenever she do what she does, she would forget about the time and by the time she snaps out of it, that's when she would feel her hunger or thirst or even how tired she had become.
Slate just glanced at her before he continued walking.
The two of them had their lunch as they watched a few more people enjoying horse back riding.
"I'm sorry you have to spend your vacation accompanying me," Amethyst couldn't help but say after a few minutes of silence.
"What you are doing is for my sister, you shouldn't apologize."
Amethyst smiled, "You siblings truly loved one another."
He looked up to her from his food when he heard a bit of envy in her voice.
"We only have one another, not taking care of each other is worst than abandoning each other," was his answer.
"Indeed, it is worst."
Slate frowned feeling that she once again fell into depression.
Without much though he raised his hand and flick a finger on her forehead, this was what he and Scarlet would do to one another when they fall into sadness or depression towards their situation.
Amethyst snapped out of her sad thoughts when she felt the pain from it.
She held her forehead before looking up at him in shock.
"I told you, when you feel depressed it would affect your health, are you trying to fall sick right in front of me?" he berated her making her purse her lips.
"I'm sorry."
Slate no longer commented before he continued eating.
Amethyst took a few more spoonful before she once again opened her mouth, she had been meaning to ask but didn't know how. And this time, she just wanted to ask.
"When..."
Slate looked up when she started speaking.
"When... did you find out about her sickness? You... You don't have to answer if I shouldn't know about it," she finally asked.
Slate started at her for a good few seconds before he went back to eating.
Astra smiled slightly seeing as he didn't want to answer, she was curious but she was not someone who would push anyone just to get the answer from her question.
Plus she already said that he didn't have to answer if he didn't want to.
Another two or so minutes passed when Slate opened his mouth.
"Five and a half years ago."
Her head snapped back up when she heard of this.
Slate sighed, "When we found out about it, she decided to up and go to make one last project that involves what we are doing now though after a year, her health took a drastic change for the worse that we ended up where we are now."
"Oh..." she didn't know how to continue that and could only react in such a way.
"The argument you heard once was of her insisting that she needs to at the very least take everything she can in this City. Because she can no longer add more places to her list," Slate continued before drinking from the coffee he had ordered.
He then placed it down before looking straight in her eyes, "That is why we really are grateful that you took this job for her."
"No... well, I was indebted to you guys that this is all I can do in order to repay everything. Plus, uhmmm I really bad about what happened two years ago," she then said.
Slate looked at her with furrowed brows.
"I actually heard what you said back then, though I guess in my half awake half asleep state. And I understand the reason why you are that angry back then. I really apologize for that."
Slate had a blank look on his face making her feel even more guilty.
But in reality, Slate was shock that she actually remember what he said back then. It was indeed true that he was mad back then but now it was no longer the case. Knowing her and seeing her willingly do what his sister needs the most, what happened back then was already at the back of his mind.
That is why, her bringing it up is a shock to him because he was rough towards her back then.
Very rough actually.
"Am I still not forgiven about that?"
As she can no longer take the blank look he was giving, she couldn't help but ask.
Her words snapped him out from his thoughts.
Slate cleared his throat, "I was too harsh back then as well. So you don't have to think about it anymore."
He took up his cup and drank from it and Amethyst didn't know whether it was just because of the lighting or what but his ears looked flush.
"Are you done for today?" he asked after drinking all of his coffee.
Amethyst nodded her head and upon seeing this, Slate called for the waiter for their bill before paying and standing up.
Amethyst didn't get the chance to say that she will pay for her share because he seemed to be rushing somehow.
"Is there something wrong?" she couldn't help but ask as she tried to run after him.
"Just thought getting home earlier is better since you are already done," was his answer.
She no longer asked and just shrugged not seeing that his cheeks were actually flushed as well.
The day ended with Amethyst giving Scarlet all the information she had gathered before returning to her own unit.
"So what happened?" Scarlet approached Slate after Amethyst left and asked.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"You seem a bit flushed when you two returned," she replied with a teasing tone.
"Whatever entertains you," was his reply before entering the study room.
Scarlet smiled before she started giggling, she can see that there must have something that happened for him toa ctually act that way.
Though she didn't expect for him to actually become like that towards Amethyst, whom he somehow hated in the past.
"I hope I would still get the chance to see you two improve your relationship," she then uttered in a sad voice before going towards her room to compile what Amethyst has given her.
As she looked at the materials, she couldn't help but sigh.
"I wish I could be the one going out-"
She stopped her words as an idea finally appeared on her head.
"That could be it," she smiled as she opened her laptop ready to type away.
