Chapter 159: I was scared

It was almost sunset when Shiro reached to the hospital. He picked up some fruit jellies and yogurts on his way as usual, and without further ado, he straight went towards the hospital room where Airi was staying. 

"God, I am so late today," he jogged at a considerate pace, and upon reaching, he knocked lightly on the door. 

Until now, he had always been knocking before going in, and usually, Airi would respond in a light 'come in', or didn't respond at all if she was asleep. He was thinking if she was awake or not, just then, a clear voice came out from behind the door. 

"Come."

Shiro slowly pushed open the door, preparing himself to get swarmed by a rain of rebukes and strange cusses directed at him. But to his surprise, he found her sitting in a wheelchair in the middle of the room.

"You're quite late today," Airi spoke up in a calm voice, looking straight at him.

"Ah… uhm, yeah. Some work in the school… but Miss President, you…"
