Chapter 3: Emotions

Days passed

Corinth the barony was busy harvesting the crop and workers with the protection of the beast guard are scouring the forest for supplies and goods like honey, fruits, herbs and wood occasional predators that attack the group.

Marcus has almost recovered by now and he is allowed to go out of his room. So he started walking around the keep. Although this was the first time for him, he felt the location familiar.

During these days Marcus came to love his mother whom he accepted as his family. He can't deny that the old Marcus was a part of the reason that happened. As for his father he was a cold-hearted man.

Both his mother and father don't seem to be aged above 30 years. His mother was a beautiful woman with auburn hair and her stature is on the shorter side of the spectrum. an important detail for the Artharan is that majority of the population in this country has black hair with very few exceptions for colours like blonde, auburn and ginger, they are less than one percent in the kingdom and the royal family is famed for their white-blonde hair. and like the rest of the country, The Wargrave family's usual hair colour is black and all males In the family have black hair except for few females whose mother has a different hair colour.

His father is a man of stature in both body and life. He has a well-built body, that is like a chiselled statue and was also a Guardian Knight of stage 3. during a war he was even said to have won against an ambush created by a stage 4 striker knight.

And he played key roles in the protection castle Blancart during a siege from an enemy. all his accomplishments in the war of Bluefire were enough to make him more than a baron and his military rank should be increased. Many of his father's friends and few subordinates were increased either in military rank, nobility or the order of inheritance. But only his father was stuck at the rank of captain and a baron from starting to the ending of the war. He never understood why that happened 'was it due to enmity with a higher rank noble or an officer?'

'no, no one can hide these accomplishments and their crucial role played in the war.'

'But only if it is the king or other personalities that are at the level of the king in the kingdom that played this game is this possible'

he was disrupted from his thoughts by the greetings of the passer-by.

"Good health to the young lord". "Greetings to the young lord"." hail the Urul for giving you back "

Various kinds of greeting passed through his ears as he walked through the markets and few shopkeepers even took out a few of their goods like fruits and toys to gift him for his safe recovery

But deep down he knew these gifts were given not because of respect and love but due to their previous young master's bullying and extortion, they hoped that if they take the initiative and give him the goodies themselves he might take a bit less and leave them alone for rest of the day.

So he curtly replied "Take them back "

few nearby owners were shocked after seeing what their thief of a young lord said

Amid this whole fiasco, Marcus felt something extremely strange. he felt a flood of emotions seeping into him.

they felt familiar to him. Jealousy, hate, a slight amount of pity and an endless amount of surprise.

He instinctively felt like all this emotion is like threads attached to his brain. Although he felt slightly nauseous due to this sudden change in his mind, this was not much compared to the pain that he felt back in the void and bedroom during the memory transfer of the body. He tried to look where these strings were coming from individually.

He concentrated on one particular string of jealousy, that leads him to a boy in a woodworks shop. When he noticed that Marcus was staring at him he became flustered and greeted him like the rest of the people and lowered his gaze. This time the string connected to him told Marcus the boy was feeling fear. He moved across the market wondering about his newfound ability to read emotions. At the end of the market as he was passing a smithy he felt an outrageous amount of hate, jealousy, and sadness. But he was surprised to find that all this emotion being emitted from just one string. At the end of the ring was a boy who was just a year or two older than Marcus staring at him even forgetting what he was told to do by his master. Due to his carelessness, the farm tool he and his master were hammering was ruined in the middle. The smith was enraged and slapped the boy hard.

But the boy's emotions were constant the same intensity of hate, sadness, and jealousy. What shocked Marcus the most was there was a hint of respect and gratitude behind all that flood of emotion. He stopped abruptly in his path he made his way towards the smithy. The Smith was shocked to see that Marcus was coming into the shop in other words barging into the shop. So, he immediately changed his expression from anger to respect and greeted Marcus "Good health to you young lord "

Although barging into someone else's shop was punishable with lashes Marcus was a young lord and possible heir of the barony. So, many rules that apply to commoners do not apply to him.

Marcus asked the smith "Who is this?"

"He is an orphan young lord I recently took him into work."

"What is your name ?"

the boy hesitated a bit and answered "I don't have a name young lord"

Marcus felt the fluctuations in his emotions sadness were soaring but the boy's face was as cold as a stone. Marcus instead of being enraged by his negative emotions a curiosity started to bug him to learn the source of these emotions. He never remembered bullying this boy before, not even remotely interacting with him. so he asked him

"hmm... follow me ".

The boy looked confusedly at his master. The master was confused about this young lord's request.

He had an order to do. although, the order was not urgent. He had an urgent debt to be paid off at the tavern of the town.If he didn't he would not be allowed there from the next day. But a sudden thought occurred to his head 'what if I can ask young master a favour for sending this brat with him. I know nobles have a lot of money. Although this one is an ingrateful runt. But maybe if I play hard to get he might just leave or ....' before his thought came to an end his tongue took control

"I..that young master I have an urgent order to finish so I need his help and I have this debt to pay within the deadline... "

Marcus was fed up with his reaction 'this bastard! I can feel his greed from a kilometre but Marcus was impatient to negotiate with him so he just glared at him and spoke loudly "do you want the guards to come tomorrow and "

the smith got the point and was saddened because he needs either money or this runt to complete the work. Or else he might go mad after today without any ale. Marcus sensed the mood swings, his heart softened a bit 'well whatever I will give him few coppers" how much do you pay for him ?"

"1 copper per day young master ."

"ohh" Marcus took out his pouch and took few coppers and kept them on the table.

"I think this is enough I will take him with me today "

He left the shop but the boy was standing there confused about what was happening

"Hey what are you waiting for come "

The boy followed him without saying anything

Marcus didn't say anything after calling him

They just roamed in the castle aimlessly
