Chapter 15: It's getting weird

On the other side.

Arnas and Nasha had got a call mentioning Jonas fever. They had got quite a shock hearing that their kid had got a fever without a season change.

"Has he been eating junk stuff?" asked Arnas gravely. He and Nasha were partially responsible as they had to leave their child to perform the mission.

"No sir, it's because he got wet" Silvos said as he was getting quite nervous by Arnas piercing gaze.

"Did he fall, or was it because he playing with water?" asked Nasha with a hint of concern.

"He got wet due to rain," said Silvos.

"Tell us how, where, when," asked Nasha as her gaze became sharp.

They got the idea that he might be playing in the rain and it was Silvos duty as his guardian to keep the kids from their pranks and play that might lead to their harm.

"Well, it was like this" Silvos said as he started to tell them Yesterday's whole story.

He recollected the whole event from the start. He started with the fact that the weather was nice and calm till Jonas came home from his school class.

They were irritated by his slow flow. So they told him to speed up a bit.

He then told them that they had gone to the cinema hall and purchased some popcorn and a drink for him.

"It's okay to purchase snacks for the movie but how is it related with him getting wet," said Nasha as she too was getting frustrated by his slow pace.

'Did he got wet by his soft drink' Arnas thought as he was getting quite far from the assumption with his poor detective skills.

"Uh" Silvos grunted. He wanted to tell them everything. So that he wouldn't be held responsible for anything that might be caused by some misunderstanding.

He told them about how something urgent came to the Restaurant when he had to be present with the kids in the park.

"You left them," said Arnas with a calm expression. But he was not so calm, he was in fact quite angry, coincidences caused something that might have led to something terrible.

The town was a peaceful one, but it was not like a pure fantasy town where no conflicts happened. There were cases of monsters roaming the town and cities in the dark side of the environment. People getting kidnapped, getting disappeared without a trace and blood traces could be found here and there.

The order of the town was maintained by the police and monster hunters keeping the town free from possible casualty that could occur at any time.

But it was not always plausible. There were cases of theft, murder, robbery or kidnapping that could occur at any place at any moment. Without the prejudice of rich and poor or the kids and elderly.

Silvos kept his silence. He too realised the gravity of that moment.

He could have delayed an hour or the restaurant could hire someone temporarily to do the job.

It was not his place to leave the kids alone.

*Sigh*

Nasha sighed at the fact as she thought that 'something unfortunate didn't happen otherwise...'.

She shuddered, she couldn't continue.

Arnas too noticed the inner struggle she was experiencing so he advised "Take deep breaths"

After a few deep breaths, she calmed down.

"Continue," said Nasha as her tone sharpened.

"Yes," Silvos didn't dare to look straight into their eyes and continued.

"I was doing my task and was in the midway, when..." Silvos recounted that moment.

POV Silvos Yesterday

"Huh it's quite a cool environment," said one person as the temperature was getting down in the restaurant.

"Uh it's starting to rain," said Another one

Silvos was doing his job. He had almost half completed the task when those voices started to fall on his ears.

'Rain' he thought perplexed as he continued but something clicked 'Kids'. He thought as he got up straight toward the window on the first floor.

Small droplets were falling on the window. Wind clapped against the window creating sound.

Silvos ran and met with the manager of the restaurant.

"Get someone other to do it," said as he ran through the main door of the restaurant.

The manager was quite confused by his behaviour but didn't ponder over it. He just called where his attention was required.

Silvos raced the car through the slippery and empty roads reaching toward the park.

The people near there were leaving the park one after another, but something was common among them, they were all wet without any protection against the rainwater.

Silvos stopped the car near the side as it was quite empty there. He ran out and got into the influx of

He ran toward the standard resting area from where the people were continuing to step out.

POV Kids

A minute later after the old man Howell had left.

The kids supported each other to stand and remained dazed for a while.

It was not that the kids were physically exhausted. Their exhaustion has been filled replacing it with a brim of energy. They could just start with that much energy.

They were mentally exhausted, they might not have experienced that much mental exhaustion since their birth.

They started to walk toward the rest area unknowingly. And met with Silvos.

"Why are you guys out here," said Silvos as he was disturbed by the whole number of unnatural things he had to face since the mall visit.

The kids looked very sad, they didn't speak till they reached home and slept.

POV Present

"You said they were sad" Arnas was confused too. But he got his attention raised, his detective sense tingled as he caught the word sad.

"Yes sad," Silvos said as he didn't notice anything unusual.

Arnas looked toward Nasha who nodded in confirmation.

"This whole park thing is getting bizarre" Arnas said as his detective skills finally gave him something about the situation.

The weather changed suddenly when there were no new updates about the storm. Their Butler Silvos getting distracted on the job. And finally...

"Why were the kids sad," said Nasha as she finally lost her cool.

"They should feel happy about the rain," Nasha said as she covered her temple with her hand

"Yes and if they don't like rain, why would they be out getting wet" Arnas as he couldn't get to the conclusion.

After racking their brains here and there. Asking questions and making Silvos feel out of the place.

"Well Jonas will tell," said Nasha as she paused on the case.

"We will come tomorrow, till then.." said Arnas as he looked at Silvos for the last time.

"Wait for the judgement" Arnas cut the call.

On the other side of the phone, Silvos cleaned his sweat with a sigh of relief.
