Chapter 82: The WAAAGH! (END)

|3rd POV|

The earth is filled with craters as both sides fight against each other. Even when their number has been slowly reduced to a few hundred million, the Orks still fight with the same ferocity as before.

However, what makes it different is that the location where Riser and co were being placed did not get attacked as much as before.

They still get to fight against the Orks skirmish. Because of this, many agents get sent to the other place to hold the other fortress the Orks are attacking. The fortress is then used as a healing base where Riser and co change jobs from fighters to healers.

"Another psychic burn!"

"Coming!"

Riser ran toward another batch of patients coming from the battlefield and quickly took them to the healing pod. This is another Tinker-tech given by the company to dry up the psychic energy around the victim.

Only a potent spell that can heal psychic damage, and they did not have enough personnel and energy to do that. Because of the number of victims in this quest, the healer needs to save their energy.

This healing pod is used to reduce the amount of psychic energy around and inside their patient. With the amount of psychic energy is reduced, the healer has an easier time healing them, and they can save a good amount of energy for emergency use.

While Riser, Medea, Hermione, Sakura, Rin, and Illya are busy healing their patient, Shirou volunteers to be the hunting group. They are the group that scouts the area to make sure there are no Orks around the fortress.

"Emergency! Two people!"

After that announcement, two people appear near the healing pod. Both of them are badly injured. One of them is missing an arm and leg while the other is burned to the point people can see his bones. The only thing that lets them live is the healing spell the rescue team casts.

"Riser! I need two vials of phoenix tears! I will pay it back."

Riser nodded his head and tossed two vials of phoenix tear to Yuni. After receiving the phoenix tear from Riser, Yuni quickly opens the vial and pours the phoenix tear on the patient. A second later, their body healed at a fast rate.

However, it was not enough to fully heal them.

But it was good enough to save their lives and let them be placed into the healing pod. The reason why Yuni is willing to pay Riser back is that she knows those people. These people are her comrades from the early batch.

They are the people that have gone through hell, literally, with her and survive from that experience.

After a few minutes inside the healing pod, Yuni quickly moves them to the emergency bed and begins to heal her friend. She did not hesitate to use a good amount of energy to save her friend, and their wounds quickly healed. Sadly, she cannot regenerate their missing limbs as she needs enormous energy to do it.

She cannot show too much favoritism. She is still a squad leader, after all. She does it later when they are finished with this quest.

After finishing healing the last patient, Riser released a sigh and wiped the sweat from his forehead.

"It has been three days. A very long three days."

True to Riser's word, it has been three days since the day they arrived on this planet. They have been fighting non-stop for thirty-two hours—almost two days of non-stop fighting in the first two days.

The western wall almost collapsed from the suicidal attack from the Orks that blew themselves up after reaching the wall. Three hundred Orks gather a massive amount of psychic energy before releasing it after believing that it will destroy the wall.

Just like how their Warmachine design where they only believe it will work for it to work, their attack almost destroys the western wall fully. Lucky for the company, it only destroyed a quarter of it, but it shows how powerful the Orks' imagination can be.

"Indeed."

Riser looks at his back and sees a young man sitting next to him before lighting a cigarette.

"Do you want some?"

"No thanks. I don't smoke."

"Shame. Anyway, the name is Alexander Terrarum."

"Riser Phenex."

Alex takes a deep breath before exhaling the smoke from his mouth.

"You know, I never thought to see a young boy in this war."

Riser looks at Alex with a surprised expression before saying.

"What do you mean?"

"Heh. I have upgraded my eyes, and I can see your true form. You are nothing but a child. I guess you are ten years old?"

"... Yes"

Alex looks at Riser for a second before nodding his head. He knows that Riser is lying to him but decides not to ask him about it, and it was not his problem after all.

"Anyway, which class are you from? I come from the class division."

"I'm a Class-C agent."

"Really? The tentacle agent, huh? I hear that division is the one that has mostly gone insane."

"Not really, no. As long as you did not directly look at the true body of your patron, you did not need to worry about going insane. We also get immunity to the void insanity the longer we are in this division."

"Fair enough."

"How are you doing? Are you one of the patients? I did not see you."

"Nah. I'm in the scout group. I came here as I had just finished my shift and regular check-up. The outside is not only filled with psychic energy but it was also filled with tainted energy from the Chaos Gods."

"Yeah. That is a nasty thing."

As Riser called it, Chaos energy is an energy coming from the realm of chaos, also known as immaterium. Psychic energy is the same energy as Chaos Energy. The difference is that the Psychic energy is more stable than its chaotic counterpart.

This energy is the one that has been 'purified' by the medium that absorbs it from the Immaterium. However, even when it has been 'purified,' it still contains madness, just like Chaotic Energy. This is the reason why the healing pod exists. It was to let the healer have an easier time and heal the victim from the madness.

"That it is. I hear from my captain that the quest is almost over."

"Really?"

"Yes. The main army is currently fighting against the Ork Warlords. There are only a few million more Orks left, and they should be done tonight."

"Tonight? When is it? This planet is always bright as it is rather close to a star and the moon of this planet is excellent in doing a job reflecting the light from the star."

"Seven hours. More or less."

"I see"

~Ten hours later~

The quest finished ten hours later. It took longer than Alex predicted, and it is because the Warlord is more difficult to kill than the main army thought it would be. Not only that, the Orks are even more dangerous when they are on their last leg.

Riser and his peerage stand in the company hub with what remains of their group. Out of five agents, three only remain. Out of thirty-two people, only fifteen remain.

Riser is rather lucky that his peerage survived the quest. If he did not bring thirty phoenix tears, he would lose Rin from a stray bullet. The same with Medea, who almost lost her leg from protecting the other people and did not see a stray bomb the Orks threw.

If not for the Phoenix tears that attach her leg back, she will need artificial legs.

"Good work, team. You guys survive the emergency quest. Take as much time as you need, and when you get back to the company hub, you will be rewarded for your contribution. With that being said, please walk away from the company hub. The higher-ups will be busy for now."

Riser nodded and led his group to walk through the portal to get back to Kuoh Town.
